Across the New and 3D series of platformers, Mario would see numerous unique power-ups, with several falling into the fursuit category. One of the most prominent draws of Super Mario 3D World, however, would be its unique take on a fursuit, the Cat Suit, which would soon springboard into its own popularity.
The Cat Suit allows Mario, Luigi, Peach, and Toad to run around on all fours like cats, climb up walls and other surfaces, glide through the air a short distance, and swipe with claws. On its own, the suit would see playable appearances in such games as Mario Kart 8, but then the lore of the suit would be expanded even further in 3D World’s re-released expansion Bowser’s Fury, set in a world entirely centered around the cat suit and the bell that summons it.
As a playable fighter, Cat Mario, and Cat Luigi, Peach, and Toad in the color swaps, will be fast and agile, with one of the best wall-cling abilities in the game. Their moves will pull from the original release of the game, but also from the added lore and abilities appearing in Bowser’s Fury.
