Paper Mario wasn’t the only game to get a sequel, as Mario & Luigi got itself a sequel in 2005 with Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time. The game saw Princess Peach trying out a time machine newly built by Professor E. Gadd, only to disappear on the return trip, the machine instead bringing back a vicious alien shaped like a poisonous mushroom.
These are the Shroobs, aliens that attempted to invade the Mushroom Kingdom at some point in the past, back when the Mario brothers were babies. The invasion forces the brothers to team up with their infant selves and travel back and forth through time to stop this new malicious force.
As fighters, the Shroobs will be quick and powerful, fighting with fierce and violent moves mirroring their malicious nature. Their moves will pull from across the game, forming an amalgam of all the different types and variants that appear.
