Princess Peach in dire trouble, the Mario brothers and Bowser join forces to travel to the Beanbean Kingdom and find a cure. On the way though, up to even more of their tricks, Cackletta and Fawful attack Bowser’s cruiser, causing it to crash. Mario and Luigi come to with Bowser nowhere to be seen. Meanwhile, a greedy thief encounters a giant confused turtle with a bad case of amnesia.
This is Popple, a cowardly crook who takes Bowser under his wing as his personal muscle, making regular appearances throughout the game as their rival character, just like Croco and Jr. Troopa before him, and will crop up again in Mario & Luigi: Dream Team. He doesn’t do too much fighting himself, preferring to let others do the fighting, then running once they are defeated.
As a fighter, Popple will likewise not have too much going for him offensively, but he will have great speed and decent defense to make up for it. Though he lets others do his fighting, he does have a few scattered moves that will make up his moveset.
