As Mario and Mallow travel together, they soon discover the fiends behind the attack on Bowser’s Castle, a race of machines from another dimension, all patterned after different weapons and determined to get their hands on seven powerful stars.
These are the Smithy Gang: Mack, Bowyer, and Yaridovich, a sword, bow and arrow, and spear respectively. Another bomb-based villain named Punchinello may also be part of their gang. They would play the role of the game’s bosses, fighting Mario and his crew over possession of the titular seven stars.
Mack, Bowyer, Yaridovich, and Punchinello would act as the fighters’ four color swaps, similar to the Koopalings and the Broodals. Their moves would pull from all four boss battles and make use of their weapons of choice.
