In 2020, the Mario Kart series branched out into a new direction, the realm of augmented reality. Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit was released, alongside a remote-controlled Mario car that allowed players to set up racetracks in their own homes and then play Mario Kart inside their house.
This stage will capture the spirit of that experience. The stage will take place mostly on a small real-world table, with a soft couch to one side and a carpeted floor below. Overlaid on this real world setting, however, will be filters giving the appearance of a Mario Kart racetrack. Racers will race through the stage on the carpet, some being merely virtual and will pass right through the players, while some will be the actual toy.
