Meanwhile, Mario wakes up to find himself in a strange multi-dimensional hubworld called Flipside, where he is greeted by his old friend and ally Merlon. Merlon tells him of the prophecy from the Dark Prognosticus that Count Bleck is trying to fulfill, and another prophecy in the Light Prognosticus that tells of four heroes who can stop it. In order to do so, Mario must travel to different worlds and find the seven pure hearts to counteract the Chaos Heart’s power. To help him on his quest, Merlon introduces Mario to a strange, pixelated butterfly creature.
This is Tippi, the first of the many Pixls you will meet along your journey. The Pixls prove to be great allies, each one providing you with a brand new ability to use to traverse the various levels. As you journey, you also slowly learn that Tippi was once human, a woman named Timpani, attacked and left for dead before being found by Merlon and saved by transforming her into a Pixl.
In the game, Tippi will form the core of the fighter, with each of the other various Pixls moving and acting around her. They will be incredibly light and quick with strong attacks pulled from the various Pixls and the abilities they bring to the gameplay.
