Given that it was based on a non-Mario game but was brought in to give western audiences a Super Mario Bros. 2 to play, it naturally follows that Super Mario Bros. 2 has a completely unique design concept and visual aesthetic not seen anywhere else in the Mario series, complete with tall grass-covered mountains and waterfalls with logs falling down them.
Honestly, the Melee stage Kingdom II did a pretty good job of representing the concept I’m going for with this stage, with the possible exception of Birdo’s removal due to her playable appearance. We could just go with that, or design a new stage still adhering to the general design concepts.
