Baby Mario & Baby Luigi

BABY MARIO & BABY LUIGI

The sequel to Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga would begin with Professor E. Gadd showing off a time travel device he had built. Among other shenanigans, and the mishaps that would set off the plot, Mario and Luigi would come face to face with the baby versions of themselves.

This is Baby Mario and Baby Luigi as they appear in Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time. Whereas another moveset would focus heavily on the individual babies and their abilities as shown in the Yoshi series, this one would be expressly based on the twins' appearance and moveset in this game in particular.

As a character, the two babies will function in tandem with each other, much the same as Mario & Luigi do, with their moveset pulling from their personal unique abilities and combo attacks.

Likelihood rating: Could happen.

Elder Princess Shroob

ELDER PRINCESS SHROOB

Princess Shroob defeated, Mario and Luigi reunite with Princess Peach and reform the Cobalt Star, just in time for Peach to warn them not to, as the reason it had been separated was because she had trapped the Shroob's true leader inside it. Said true leader would emerge from the newly formed star and begin her own reign of terror.

This is Elder Princess Shroob, the elder sister of Princess Shroob, who had attacked Princess Peach on her journey back through time and as a result ended up in the Cobalt Star. Her younger sister had since been on the warpath, seeking vengeance for her sister and power for herself.

As a fighter, Elder Princess Shroob is much bigger and stronger than her sister, with moves that are more physical and feral rather than relying on technology, pulling from her major boss fight at the end of the game.

Likelihood rating: Never gonna happen.

Second Chance: Elder Princess Shroob

ELDER PRINCESS SHROOB

This one's a tricky one. Elder Princess Shroob is the older sister of Princess Shroob, and the true final villain of the game revealed after her sister is defeated, and honestly, she feels like she exists purely because the game developers wanted a last minute twist. So I mostly skipped her over, and just melded her in with her sister, but in the interest of fairness, I went back over both of their major battles and paid specific attention to their differences.

There's actually quite a bit. For one, Princess Shroob is smaller and much more reliant on technology. She rides around on a hover chair for her battles, one that can grow spider-legs and project a shield around itself. When off the hover chair, she can teleport and summon energy balls to throw at fighters. Obviously, there's more than enough to work with on just that alone.

On the other hand, Elder Princess Shroob is much more of a brute force kind of girl. She fires energy blasts, but from her mouth, uses tech only in a primitive capacity, like riding on top of two saucers to get higher and shooting saucers out of the sky to crash down on her enemies, and she attacks with tentacles that she lashes out and strikes her enemies with. She can also cough out a cloud of noxious gas and create shockwaves when landing on the ground.

So, although the characters don't really feel all that different, they're distinct enough for our purposes. My answer is . . .

YES

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Gas Cloud

She will cough out her cloud of noxious gas which will envelop those that pass through it and poison them.

Side B: Tentacles

She will extend her tentacles outward and spin them in a circle, damaging any that happen to be in their range.

Up B: Flying Saucers

She will ride on top of a pair of flying saucers before hopping down with a large shockwave.

Down B: Energy Blast

She will charge up a blast of energy in her mouth and spit it out directly in front of her.

Final Smash: Kamikaze Saucers

A fleet of saucers will appear in the sky above the stage. The princess will spit an energy disc into the sky, which will ricochet off the saucers and cause them to come crashing down explosively onto the stage.

Entrance: She will break out of the Cobalt Star.

Taunts: Up, she will laugh evilly while waving her tentacles. Side, she will extend her tentacles a bit and relax. Down, she will cough up a little bit of poison.

Kirby Hat: Her big mushroom head and crown.

Kart: A pair of Shroob saucers under her feet.

Special Move: She will fire an energy disc into the air, causing saucers to drop from the sky.

Spirit Battle: Princess Shroob on Shroob Mothership, followed by a giant battle with Elder Princess Shroob.

Victory Screen: She and her sister will laugh over a barren wasteland of mushrooms.

Losing Screen: She will pound on the inside of the Cobalt Star as it spins away.

Color Swaps: I believe we had four for her from her sister's list, so take those four, plus a black dress, a white dress, a green dress, and a dress more accurately based on Queen Elizabeth I.

Baby Mario

A stork flies high in the sky over Yoshi’s Island, carrying two small infants on their way to their parents’ house. Koopa minions in red hoods swarm the stork, taking it and one of the babies hostage, while the other falls, escaping their grasp and landing on a passing Yoshi below.

This is the baby form of Mario, who is taken in by the Yoshis of the island who agree to help him rescue his twin brother. Mario as a baby would prove the constant companion for Yoshi throughout his games, sometimes alongside other babies such as his brother Luigi, Peach, Daisy, Rosalina, Wario, and Donkey Kong.

This fighter will be an amalgam of all the babies that appear in the series, with Baby Mario acting as the first color swap, with Luigi, Peach, Daisy, Wario, Waluigi, Rosalina, and Donkey Kong as the other seven. Their moves will pull from all of the abilities demonstrated by the babies across the series.

Shroob Mothership

Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time’s most notable aspect, apart from the time traveling, was the invasion of the Mushroom Kingdom by the alien Shroobs. Over the course of the game, you see the Mushroom Kingdom become more and more infested with giant purple mushrooms as Shroob ships fill the sky.

This stage will heavily focus on both of those aspects. It will have two different forms, one pre-invasion, set atop Peach’s Castle as it appears in the game, mushroom-free and the skies clear. The other will be post-invasion, the castle covered in giant Shroob mushrooms, drastically altering the terrain. Princess Shroob’s mothership will also hang in the sky over the castle as smaller ships fly in and out as platforms. A time portal will stick out of the ground in the middle of the stage, regularly becoming volatile and triggering the change.

Princess Shroob

These aliens turn out to be led by a vile, vindictive princess wearing a dress similar to Peach’s, who seems bound and determined to take down Peach and the Mario brothers and conquer their world.

This is Princess Shroob, or should I say, the younger Princess Shroob. Her elder sister was the true leader of the Shroob forces, but Princess Peach had ended up sealing her away inside a star during her encounter with them in the past. The younger princess took up the force’s leadership, determined to free her sister and take revenge.

In the game, Princess Shroob will move similarly to Princess Peach in many ways, but will pack way more of a punch with her moves. Her moveset will pull from her various boss battles in the game, and also a little from her older sister’s battle at the very end.

Likelihood rating: Could happen

Shroob

Paper Mario wasn’t the only game to get a sequel, as Mario & Luigi got itself a sequel in 2005 with Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time. The game saw Princess Peach trying out a time machine newly built by Professor E. Gadd, only to disappear on the return trip, the machine instead bringing back a vicious alien shaped like a poisonous mushroom.

These are the Shroobs, aliens that attempted to invade the Mushroom Kingdom at some point in the past, back when the Mario brothers were babies. The invasion forces the brothers to team up with their infant selves and travel back and forth through time to stop this new malicious force.

As fighters, the Shroobs will be quick and powerful, fighting with fierce and violent moves mirroring their malicious nature. Their moves will pull from across the game, forming an amalgam of all the different types and variants that appear.

Thwomp

Larry defeated, the adventure continues into the next world, a desert world. Once again, the world features a fortress in the middle and an airship at the end. As you tentatively make your way through this new fortress, you suddenly look up to see a giant stone block with an angry face crashing down on top of your head.

This is a Thwomp, a giant living cinderblock that sometimes acts more like an obstacle than an enemy. These creatures can be found in most castles and fortresses, creating hazardous booby traps for anyone who dares trespass. Although nearly universally known for hanging in one space and moving up and down, they have shown other abilities in various RPGs and other random games, including spitting up large boulders, being followed around by smaller Thwimps, and even showing the ability to move along the ground, albeit a bit slowly.

In battle, Thwomps will be among the slowest and heaviest in the entire game, made up for by intense power and a staunch refusal to be launched by all but the most powerful of attacks. Their moves will pull from all of their random appearances, and even a little from their cousins, the Whomps, but most especially their familiar and iconic up special.

Character Sheet: Shroob

SHROOB

Today, we begin our newcomers. I did say going into this that the RPGs would likely be the last shot for many of the frequent enemies you wouldn't expect to see on a Smash roster, but what I didn't expect was that the RPGs would actually come through for a lot of them. At least one I thought was never going to happen in a million, billion years. But here we are. The first ten are all Mario regulars who finally took the step up to playable. The other sixteen are originals to the Mario & Luigi games (or Origami King) specifically.

1. Toadsworth

2. Captain Toad

3. Buzzy Beetle

4. King Bob-Omb

5. Pokey

6. Ninji

7. Thwomp

20. Princess Shroob

21. The Dark Star

22. Antasma

23. Midbus

24. Shroob

25. Popple

26. Durmite/Wisdurm

Today, we'll be covering the Shroobs, the alien race who invaded the Mushroom Kingdom in Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time under the leadership of Princess Shroob. This is the only enemy species we'll be covering this time, and the only enemy species that will appear in the RPG roster. They come in many forms, from regular grunts, scientists, and the larger Shrooboids, all of which will be represented here.

Across the game, the Shroobs are seen flying around in their flying saucers and shooting laser guns, probably their most iconic moves, as well as firing massive laser blasts, calling in other saucers to shoot lasers from above, swimming in sand, throwing spike balls and giant hammers, summoning hammers, using special Shroob Bob-Ombs, throwing meteors, throwing fireballs and lightning, spinning and throwing maces, trapping opponents in crystal, and throwing lollipops (that one's more or less specific to a specific Shrooboid boss). Also their ships have shown the capacity to transform living beings into poisonous mushrooms. I'd say that's quite a bit.

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Giant Laser

The Shroob will pull out its laser gun and fire off a blast. You can either fire off a regular blast, or you can hold the attack down, increasing the power and size of the blast, similar to characters like Samus.

Side B: Meteor

The Shroob will pull out a flaming meteor and throw it into the air, at which point it will careen down through the air at an angle like a meteor falling from the sky.

Up B: Flying Saucer

The Shroob will hop up into one of its saucers, its head poking out the top the way it does. You can fly around in this state for a short time at your leisure, pressing A to fire lasers from the ship's guns.

Down B: Crystal

The Shroob will freeze an opponent in a solid chunk of crystal, which will last for a short time, similar to being frozen in ice.

Final Smash: Invasion

A swarm of Shroob saucers will fly down from the sky and zoom all around the stage, firing off lasers everywhere. Everywhere a shot hits, purple mushrooms will spawn, spewing poisonous gas around the area. Every opponent hit will be turned into a purple mushroom.

Entrance: They will float down in a saucer and pop out of it.

Taunts: Up, the shroob will pirouette on one foot and point its gun to the left. Side, the shroob will pull out a lollipop and lick it for a second. Down, the shroob will dig into the sand for a second and pop back up wearing a scuba mask.

Character Sheet: Princess Shroob

 PRINCESS SHROOB

Today, we begin our newcomers. 21. The Dark Star

22. Antasma

23. Midbus

24. Shroob

25. Popple

26. Durmite/Wisdurm

Okay, so, strictly speaking, we are talking about the younger Princess Shroob who acts as the actual villain for the majority of the game, not the elder Princess Shroob who shows up at the end as a "SURPRISE!" secret villain. That said, Elder Princess Shroob's battle will factor into this as well, as giving them both a character slot just kinda felt superfluous (but hey, if you'd like to think of them as echoes . . .).

The Shroob sisters are the leaders of the Shroob army, with the elder being locked away at the beginning of the game, leading to her younger sister to spearhead the invasion seeking a means to free her sister once again. Across the game, the younger princess rides in a hover throne, not unlike Cacklettas. She calls in Shroob soldiers and flying saucers to do her bidding. She can summon a shield, fire lasers, call down laser fire from above, attack with electrical orbs, grow spider-legs from her chair, and teleport. Her sister can ride on flying saucers, stomp and charge, throw meteors, spew poisonous clouds, and swing her tentacles around. I'd say that's enough.

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Flying Saucer

I think, similar to Rosalina, she should be able to call in a saucer to hang around her and act as a second fighter. Pressing the command once will summon it, again while it's out will send it forward to attack opponents.

Side B: Laser Fire

This will be a standard attack for both her and her saucer. She will spin and shoot with her own laser gun, while the saucer will shoot a beam from above.

Up B: Saucer Flight OR Spider-Chair

One possibility will be to have the saucer either carry her up via tractor beam or have her ride it like her elder sister does. OR her spider-chair will come out under her, crouch down, and then spring into the air.

Down B: Shield OR Sky Beam

One possibility is that she will project her shield that she uses in battle. Another is that she will call down a beam from outer space. Part of me feels like that's a little too similar to the Side B, hence the options.

Final Smash: Elder Princess Shroob

I mean, obviously, right? If she's not playable, she's going to be her sister's final smash. The Elder Princess will basically burst onto the scene, spewing toxic gas everywhere while attacking with her tentacles.

Entrance: She will float down in her throne.

Taunts: Up, she will spin and hold up her chalice. Side, she and her sister will stand side to side and look at each other. Down, she will screech in fury and point at the last opponent to do her damage.

Thanks for reading! Next up, we will cover the Dark Star, the cosmic entity that kinda stole Fawful's thunder a little bit.

Character Sheet: Mario & Luigi

 MARIO & LUIGI

Today, we begin our newcomers. I did say going into this that the RPGs would likely be the last shot for many of the frequent enemies you wouldn't expect to see on a Smash roster, but what I didn't expect was that the RPGs would actually come through for a lot of them. 24. Shroob

25. Popple

26. Durmite/Wisdurm

Today, we'll be covering Mario and Luigi. Now, I know, I know, we already have a Mario and a Luigi and several other variants in between. Isn't it a bit extraneous to just have them both working as a pair. So, I guess to be more specific, this is Mario & Luigi as they appear in the Mario and Luigi RPG series, with moves based entirely on their tag-team abilities in those games, and stylized to look like the game series' distinct style. Their star companion Starlow will also be a technical third member of the team, as she will fly around them and appear in a number of moves and taunts.

Across the games, the brothers have a butt-ton of moves to work with, and I will do my best to sort them out for you. They have base moves like jumping and swinging their hammers, and they can also use hand-abilities like shooting fireballs and lightning. They can switch around which brother is in the front, which can then affect which abilities they can perform. For instance, with Mario behind Luigi, he can put fire to Luigi's back and make him run faster. But in the reverse way, Luigi can electrify and paralyze Mario and pull him backwards. They can also perform various jumps, like the Spin Jump to spin on top of each other, or the high jump to bounce off of each other. They can also either smack each other with a hammer to make them tiny and then smack them around like a ball, or bury them underground at which point they can then pop up under an item or unsuspecting enemy. They also have a ton of Super-Moves to be used in battle, any one of which can be utilized as the "Final Smash." Honestly, it's a take-your-pick on that one.

Here's the moveset I've come up with:

Standard B: Fire Bros. OR Thunder Bros.

My concept for them is almost two separate movesets. Pressing Down B will switch whichever brother is up front, and then they will have different moves across the board. Much like Min Min, A and B will function to control the different brothers in that state, A controlling the one up front, so that his Standard A move will utilize his fire or lightning as a mere projectile, but the B will control the one in the back. With Mario in the back, he will light a fireball on Luigi, giving him a boost of speed. Luigi in the back will let him freeze up Mario and move him around as a human shield and give them added defense.

Side B: Ball Bros. OR Dig Bros.

Side A will make use of the brothers' hammers, just swinging them around with little difference. Side B, however, if Luigi is in the back, he will smack and shorten Mario and then smack him in the butt, sending him flying forward as a ball. If Mario is in the back, he will send Luigi straight into the ground. Luigi will stay that way until you press up, at which point he will fly up out of the ground, striking any walking over him.

Up B: Spin Jump OR High Jump

If Luigi is in the back, he will jump up on top of Mario and the pair will spin in the famous spin jump. If you just press the command, they will raise and spin side to side, though you can make them fly upward with another upward press, or send them into a side drill with a sideways press. If Mario is in the back, Luigi will pull out a spring cap and let Mario hop on top of him and send him flying skyward.

Down B: Switch Bros.

Basically, this will just switch them.

Final Smash: Bros. Attack

Honestly, there are soooooooo many fitting for a final for them, and I honestly have no idea which to pick from the large number of them. So, my stance is, pick your favorite. I have a few, like the one where they fire a bunch of fireballs into a massive meteor that then slams down on the enemy, or the one where they hop into a bunch of pipes and fire them off. It's possible it could be different based on who's in front like the other moves. Whichever you pick.

Entrance: They'll rise from the ground in one of those big pipes with the two sets of footprints on them.

Taunts: Most of their victory poses are fun. Up could be their victory screen with them punching the air and saying "Go Weegee, Go Weegee." Side could have Starlow fly around them and pull at Luigi's mustache. Down, could have both brothers fall asleep and Starlow float around them like she can't believe they're sleeping at a time like this.

Character Sheet: Thwomp

 THWOMP

Today, we begin our newcomers. I did say going into this that the RPGs would likely be the last shot for many of the frequent enemies you wouldn't expect to see on a Smash roster, but what I didn't expect was that the RPGs would actually come through for a lot of them. At least one I thought was never going to happen in a million, billion years. But here we are. The first ten are all Mario regulars who finally took the step up to playable. 21. The Dark Star

22. Antasma

23. Midbus

24. Shroob

25. Popple

26. Durmite/Wisdurm

Going into this, I imagined I'd get a few surprises. There were a few I thought probably wouldn't get in, but considering the RPGs, there was at least a chance. There were some I didn't want to get in at all, but once they made their case, my rule was that I couldn't say no. And then there were those that I thought long and hard about, and figured there was no chance in the world it was going to happen and they'd be better off just acting as stage hazards or assist trophies. That's where Thwomps fell.

Until now. There were a couple of things that made the radar for Thwomps. Obviously they had a built-in Up B. Their connection to Whomps and other blocky races gave them some things to work with, and then there were Thwimps, but it just wasn't enough. Then Partners in Time came around, gave us an entire volcano made of Thwomps, and threw in a boss fight with a Thwomp that just happened to fill in every box I was missing. A point of reference for how they might move around on stage, hey, look at Mrs. Thwomp hopping around in a similar fashion to Sushie from the first Paper Mario. Appendages to pull off normal and Smash attacks, hey, look, she's got those too, and they bear a distinct resemblance to a few other Thwomp relatives' arms. Look, she's coughing up a boulder and throwing it at the enemy. Welp, I don't have a case anymore. Thwomp's in. They'll likely be incredibly slow and heavy, but hey, what's game balancing for.

Here's their moveset:

Standard B: Boulder

This one's based on Mrs. Thwomp's attack from Partners in Time. The Thwomp will cough up a large boulder and send it rolling across the stage.

Side B: Slam

This is largely based on Whomp, which was going to be just a color swap for Thwomp, until I decided on echo instead, but it still fits well. The Thwomp will slam forward and faceplant. That's basically it. If pressed in quick succession, the Thwomp will then flip onto the top of its head, then another press will send it slamming forward onto its back. Think, those big box things from Super Mario 64.

Up B: Slam Down

You all know what this is. It's a Thwomp. What do you think the Up B is going to be. Imagine it similar to King Dedede's in terms of function.

Down B: Thwimp

A tiny Thwimp will appear and slam into the opponent directly in front of the Thwomp. Directional tilts can then make it leap over the Thwomp and slam down behind it as well.

Final Smash: Thwomp Volcano

A game presents me with a volcano made of Thwomps that then erupts and spews flaming Thwomps into the sky and you think I'm not going to use it as the Thwomp final smash. Do you know me at all at this point?

Entrance: Drop from the sky with an "Rrrgh!"

Taunts: If anyone's going to have a Snake-esque taunt where all three are the same, I feel it's going to be this one. Maybe just a close-eyes, rise up a couple feet, slam back down with an "Rrrgh!" kinda thing.

Thanks for reading! Next up, we'll cover their cousins, the Whomps!

Character Sheet: Toadsworth

 TOADSWORTH

Today, we begin our newcomers. I did say going into this that the RPGs would likely be the last shot for many of the frequent enemies you wouldn't expect to see on a Smash roster, but what I didn't expect was that the RPGs would actually come through for a lot of them. At least one I thought was never going to happen in a million, billion years. But here we are. The first ten are all Mario regulars who finally took the step up to playable. 21. The Dark Star

22. Antasma

23. Midbus

24. Shroob

25. Popple

26. Durmite/Wisdurm

Today, we will begin with Toadsworth, who was left out previously largely because Toadette was Toad's echo fighter, and I just didn't care enough about the character to give him a separate slot when he was largely just another Toad in terms of moves. However, when Professor Toad gave me the inspiration needed to make Captain Toad his own separate character, suddenly we had the freedom to, shall we say, move around some stuff. Toadette could be an echo of Toad or Captain Toad and it would work either way. And freeing up Toad left a nice opening for a Mario regular who'd been waiting in the wings long enough.

Here's his moveset:

Standard B: Pick Up and Throw
Probably a much weaker throw than the regular Toad

Side B: Ice Flower OR Boomerang Flower
Or maybe using his magic wand, which we can then retroactively give to the Toads.

Up B: Propeller Hat

Down B: Treasure Chest
Just pulls out items he can use or give to others.

Final Smash: Mega Mushroom
Honestly, the idea of Toadsworth tromping around as a giant adds a bit of a comedy element to it, I think.

Entrance: He steps out of a Toad House and clears his throat.

Taunts: I've recently had it pointed out to me that the taunts generally have a subtle direction to them. The Up Taunt has some kind of upward movement, Side is side-to-side or neutral, and Down has a downward movement. I'm going to try my hand at that. Up, he will wave his wand in the air and cause magic to appear. Side, he will do his signature cough. Down, he will sit down and take a load off for a while.

Next up: Let's cover Captain Toad, who is either the echo of Toadette or Toadette is the echo of him, whichever you prefer.

Character Sheet: Kamek (Revision)

 KAMEK

This will largely be our last run of revisions, for the Mario series at least. Now that the RPGs are over, pretty much every game left is either something we've already covered for the most part (Remakes, etc.), or run on a core game mechanic not unique to any one character (the Sports games). So, once these are done, I will do character sheets for new characters added and just a general sum up for everyone else. With all that said, let's get into it:

2. Luigi
3. Professor E. Gadd
4. Princess Peach
5. Toad
6. Toadette
7. Bowser
8. Dry Bowser
9. Bowser Jr.
10. Koopalings
11. Koopa Troopa
12. Dry Bones
13. Goomba
14. Piranha Plant
15. Boo
16. Cheep Cheep

24. Wiggler
25. Chain Chomp

27. Petey Piranha
28. King Boo
29. Paper Mario
30. Yoshi
31. Baby Mario
32. Baby Bowser
33. Kamek
34. Shy Guy

I swear, I do not understand why the sports games feel the need to ignore this guy. He has got to be one of the most important Mario/Yoshi characters out there. This time around, he appeared as a minor supporting character to Baby Bowser in Partners in Time and acted as a major part in both Origami King and Paper Jam, Paper Jam as a major villain alongside his paper form, and Origami King as one of your companions throughout much of the second-to-last world of the game.

Throughout all of these games, he acts much as you would expect Kamek would, as the faithful companion and advisor to Bowser. He casts spells, rides around on a broomstick, teleports, summons enemies out of thin air, and creates duplicates of himself. He also shows the ability this time around to create magic barriers and force fields, as well as to create paper terrain to change up the environment on you. Let's see what we can do.

Here's his moveset:

Standard B: Magic Spell

Side B: Broomstick

Up B: Teleport

Down B: Duplicates
How about just a defense/counter move. He will just summon up two duplicates of himself, which will take hits directed at him, and will strike with a magical blast at the attacker.

Final Smash: Boss Battle

Entrance: Swoop in on his broom and do his little chuckle.

Taunts: Hold up his wand and wave it around for a second, is a good one. His chuckle, as mentioned before. Maybe cast a little magic and surprise himself.

Next up: Let's go over the Shy Guys and finish the revisions!

Character Sheet: Baby Bowser (Revision)

 BABY BOWSER

This will largely be our last run of revisions, for the Mario series at least. Now that the RPGs are over, pretty much every game left is either something we've already covered for the most part (Remakes, etc.), or run on a core game mechanic not unique to any one character (the Sports games). So, once these are done, I will do character sheets for new characters added and just a general sum up for everyone else. With all that said, let's get into it:

1. Mario
2. Luigi
3. Professor E. Gadd
4. Princess Peach
5. Toad
6. Toadette
7. Bowser
8. Dry Bowser
9. Bowser Jr.
10. Koopalings
11. Koopa Troopa
12. Dry Bones
13. Goomba
14. Piranha Plant
15. Boo
16. Cheep Cheep
17. Blooper
18. Bob-Omb
19. Lakitu
20. Monty Mole
21. Spike
22. Hammer Bro
23. Chargin' Chuck
24. Wiggler
25. Chain Chomp
26. Birdo
27. Petey Piranha
28. King Boo
29. Paper Mario
30. Yoshi
31. Baby Mario
32. Baby Bowser
33. Kamek
34. Shy Guy

Now, let's cover Baby Bowser, who appears, alongside the baby versions of Mario, Luigi, and Peach, in Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time. You have a few battles with him, during which he breathes fire, throws around a hammer, and flies around in a Koopa Klown Kar. It's not much, but it's there.

Let's see what we can do:

Standard B: Fire Breath

Side B: Bowser's Pet

Up B: Super Jump

Down B: Rock Fall

Final Smash: Giant Bowser

Entrance: A Toady will carry him in inside of a wrapped sheet.

Taunt: Just general brattiness works well for the character, maybe crying because he's not getting his way, maybe insulting opponents the way he did his older self.

Thanks for reading! Next up, we'll cover Kamek!

Character Sheet: Baby Mario (Revision)

 BABY MARIO

This will largely be our last run of revisions, for the Mario series at least. Now that the RPGs are over, pretty much every game left is either something we've already covered for the most part (Remakes, etc.), or run on a core game mechanic not unique to any one character (the Sports games). So, once these are done, I will do character sheets for new characters added and just a general sum up for everyone else. With all that said, let's get into it:

1. Mario
2. Luigi
3. Professor E. Gadd

5. Toad
6. Toadette
7. Bowser
8. Dry Bowser
9. Bowser Jr.
10. Koopalings
11. Koopa Troopa

24. Wiggler
25. Chain Chomp
26. Birdo
27. Petey Piranha
28. King Boo
29. Paper Mario
30. Yoshi
31. Baby Mario
32. Baby Bowser
33. Kamek
34. Shy Guy

Today, let's cover Baby Mario and Baby Luigi, primarily, as of course they appeared as primary characters in Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time, paired up with their older selves as well as each other. There's not a lot to talk about, as most of their moves are moves used by their elder selves in other games and were just divided out to them for this game, but it's worth mentioning that they can drill into the ground, fill up with water to spurt it out, get flattened and then sent floating, and attacking with hammers and green shells, all cool and worthy of adding to their moveset.

Now, one thing I do want to talk about is representation of these characters, as there are many varying ideas out there. Up to now, I have chosen to have them represented as color swaps, with Peach, Daisy, Rosalina, Donkey Kong, Wario, and Waluigi represented as well. Others have suggested a tag-team much like the Ice Climbers, largely based on things like how this game works. Another possibility is echo fighters, maybe with Luigi then taking Daisy, Rosalina, and Waluigi as color swaps. I don't really feel the need to change my current method, as it gives you the ability to play as all the various babies without too much trouble, but if you'd prefer them as either alternative, that is fine. I don't think the movesets change much either way.

Here's the moveset:

Standard B: Waterlogged

I actually kinda prefer one of the moves seen in Partners in Time here. The baby will fill up with water and then spray it as a straight-shot projectile.

Side B: Baby DK Charge

Up B: Baby Peach Parasol

Down B: Baby Wario Magnet

Final Smash: Temper Tantrum

Super Cape could also work.

Entrance: The stork will arrive at a Stork Stop, with the baby in question hopping out of the carrier.

Taunts: Rolling around and being cute. Waving a rattle around. Floating in a bubble for a second.

Thanks for reading! Next up, let's cover Baby Bowser!

Character Sheet: Princess Peach (Revision)

 PRINCESS PEACH

This will largely be our last run of revisions, for the Mario series at least. Now that the RPGs are over, pretty much every game left is either something we've already covered for the most part (Remakes, etc.), or run on a core game mechanic not unique to any one character (the Sports games). So, once these are done, I will do character sheets for new characters added and just a general sum up for everyone else. With all that said, let's get into it:

1. Mario
2. Luigi
3. Professor E. Gadd

5. Toad
6. Toadette

10. Koopalings
11. Koopa Troopa
12. Dry Bones
13. Goomba
14. Piranha Plant
15. Boo
16. Cheep Cheep
17. Blooper
18. Bob-Omb
19. Lakitu
20. Monty Mole
21. Spike
22. Hammer Bro
23. Chargin' Chuck
24. Wiggler
25. Chain Chomp
26. Birdo
27. Petey Piranha
28. King Boo
29. Paper Mario
30. Yoshi
31. Baby Mario
32. Baby Bowser
33. Kamek
34. Shy Guy

Today, let's cover Princess Peach. Although she appears in all games covered here, she really doesn't have much to go on. Most of the games, she spends half her time held captive by the respective enemy, and the other half of the time just kinda hanging around in the hub area. She gets cursed a couple times, gaining literally explosive vocabulary and growing a mushroom face at one point, but its pretty basic for her this time.

Here is her moveset:

Standard B: Group Hug
It's a good thing I got rid of that Toad counter move altogether considering certain coming developments. (Spoilers)

Side B: Sleepy Time

Up B: Parasol

Down B: Parasol Shield

Final Smash: Psych Bomb

Entrance: She floats down from the sky on her parasol.

Taunts: Her kiss of Mario at the end of many games could be one, a lot of her small movements throughout her cutscenes perhaps, some of her victory screens maybe.

Next up: It's time for Toad!

Character Sheet: Professor E. Gadd (Revision)

 PROFESSOR E. GADD

This will largely be our last run of revisions, for the Mario series at least. Now that the RPGs are over, pretty much every game left is either something we've already covered for the most part (Remakes, etc.), or run on a core game mechanic not unique to any one character (the Sports games). So, once these are done, I will do character sheets for new characters added and just a general sum up for everyone else. With all that said, let's get into it:

1. Mario
2. Luigi
3. Professor E. Gadd
4. Princess Peach
5. Toad
6. Toadette
7. Bowser
8. Dry Bowser
9. Bowser Jr.
10. Koopalings
11. Koopa Troopa
12. Dry Bones
13. Goomba
14. Piranha Plant
15. Boo
16. Cheep Cheep
17. Blooper
18. Bob-Omb
19. Lakitu
20. Monty Mole
21. Spike
22. Hammer Bro
23. Chargin' Chuck
24. Wiggler
25. Chain Chomp
26. Birdo
27. Petey Piranha
28. King Boo
29. Paper Mario
30. Yoshi
31. Baby Mario
32. Baby Bowser
33. Kamek
34. Shy Guy

Today, let's quickly go over Professor Elvin Gadd once again. Luigi's mentor in the Luigi's Mansion games, he has a few select appearances outside of those games, one of the most prominent being his role in Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time, where he basically kicks off the plot by inventing the time machine that allows the brothers to go into the past and meet their baby selves, as well as a younger version of the professor himself. There's not much to say here, just the time machine, as well as a giant water machine inspired by one heck of a time paradox.

Here is the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Suction

Side B: Flashbulb

Up B: Balloon OR Backfire

Down B: Gooigi

Final Smash: Super Suction
You could consider his water machine here too if you really wanted to.

Entrance: He will transport himself through his own machine.

Taunts: His famous chuckle, adjusting the settings on his poltergust, playing with Polterpup, so on.

Thanks for reading! Next up, we'll cover the princess herself, Princess Peach!

Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time

MARIO & LUIGI: PARTNERS IN TIME

Today, we cover the sequel to Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga. You know, the one that got skipped by the remakes for some reason. The game features a Mario and Luigi tag team once again, this time working in tandem with not only each other but with their baby selves as they get entangled in a complex time-travel plot involving evil alien invaders called the Shroobs.

Mario and Luigi can do a lot of their basics, like jumping and using hammers, and together they can perform their spin jump like in their previous game, and can roll up together into a ball and move through tight spots Samus-style. The babies can do a lot of that too, carrying hammers of their own, but they have their own special moves like spinning to drill into the ground (also similar to the last game), and Baby Mario can drink up water that he can then spit like a projectile. As a foursome, they also have a few moves going on, like carrying the babies piggyback then throwing them up to reach higher places, rolling over them to make them flat as pancakes, or spin jumping into them to make them float through the air. (Oh sure, but if I do all this to real babies . . . {insert standard joke here}). They can also use items in battle like fire flowers and green shells.

We have a handful of recurring characters running around, like both a baby and adult version of Princess Peach, filling the role we've come to expect from Peach by this point. We also have an old and young version of Toadsworth and Professor E. Gadd. The Toadsworths mostly inadvertently teach you new techniques you can use while trying to entertain Baby Peach, while E. Gadd supplies both the time machine that causes the plot and your living suitcase named Stuffwell. We also have a number of Toads, like the scientist Toadbert, Yoshis, and a pushy Koopa reporter named Kylie Koopa.

Bowser and his own baby form also appear here, and of course you have a couple of fights with them. Bowser stomps, spits poison, breathes fire, spins in his shell, and causes shockwaves. Baby Bowser breathes fire as well, uses a hammer and his Koopa Klown Kar, and has his own version of the Koopa Cruiser. The baby form is accompanied by Kamek throughout the game, doing his normal thing of flying on brooms, casting spells, splitting into multiples, and summoning enemies to battle. Fawful, having survived the end of Superstar Saga, has a very brief cameo running a shop and ranting about his FURY!!!

Our main villains are the Shroobs, an alien race attacking Earth in the past. They are led by Princess Shroob, although their leader turns out to be her elder sister, Elder Princess Shroob, although this doesn't really add much to the story outside of being a surprise twist ending where you have to fight a bigger version of the character. Princess Shroob flies around in a hover throne, directs both flying saucers and Shroob soldiers themselves, shields herself, fires lasers, call down a beam from above, shoot electric orbs at you, sprout spider legs from her throne, and teleport. Her sister also shoots lasers, rides the flying saucers, stomps, charges, throws meteors at you, grow even bigger, spew a poisonous cloud, and swing tentacles at you. At the end of the game, her essence possesses Bowser, because you can't end a game not on a Bowser battle, I guess.

The Shroobs themselves have quite a bit of variety. Regular Shroobs pull off a variety of moves, such as flying around in their flying saucers, shooting laser guns, firing a massive laser blast, calling in saucers to shoot lasers, swim around in sand, throw spike balls and fish, swing giant hammers, summon flames, throw Shroob-ombs, throw meteors, and send others into battle. They even have scientist versions who use remotes to control saucers and eat mushrooms and other health items. There are also a couple of mini-boss versions called the Shrooboids who throw fireballs and lightning, spin to throw a mace, trap you in crystals, spit up saucers, and throw lollipops.

Other bosses include the giant dinosaur Yoob, who likes to eat Yoshis with his long tongue; Sunnycide, a shroob egg thing that throws eggs, stomps, and sucks in; Petey Piranha, our boy, eating, burrowing, stomping, flying, and divebombing like it's nobody's business; and Mrs. Thwomp, a large round Thwomp who stomps . . . around, spits up rocks (huh), and splits herself into multiples. She even has arms she can use . . . wait a minute. No way. Let's see, spit up rocks, the big up and down thing, Thwimps, slamming forward like a Whomp, arms, a basis for regular movement . . . no way. No f**king way. Um, I guess we'll be talking about this more in depth later. I'm not smiling. You're smiling.

So, um, besides Thwomps being an unexpected but welcome surprise, let's go over the other enemies, shall we? Regular returning characters, we have Goombas, Boos, Shy Guys, Piranha Plants, Hammer Bros, Wiggler (who spouts a poison cloud), Pidgits, Dry Bones, Bullies, Pokeys, Bob-Ombs, Tanoombas, Thwacks, and Rexes. New enemies include Koopeleons who turn invisible; Spiny Shroopas who leap; Coconutters who carry around spears; Egyptian Snifits called Snifaros; robotic Shroobs called Shroids; Love Bubbles; Skeleton Pokeys; shadowy hands that hold up signs depicting other enemies; literal Piranha Planets (big orbs of pipes with Piranha's sticking out of them and one of my favorite enemy designs ever); and Snoozorbs, big rolling balls who sleep a lot.

As for our stages, we have Peach's Castle, a Christmas-themed Toad village called Hollijolli Village, Bowser's Castle and the Koopa Cruiser, Toadwood Forest, Yoshi's Island, Gritzy Desert and the Koopaseum, a literal volcano made of Thwomps (FINAAAL SMAAAASH!), the Shroob Mothership and a Shroobified version of Peach's Castle, and Star Hill leading to the Star Shrine.

Items in the game are very similar to the previous game, with beans, mushrooms, peppers, and so on.
