Fawful Express

Although the inside of Bowser’s body was easily the most iconic location within Bowser’s Inside Story, it also gave us the experience of fighting gigantic kaiju battles between Bowser and various giant foes, a trend which continued in Dreams Deep with a giant dream Luigi. One among these battles saw Bowser take on a living mountain, with a train adorned with Fawful’s face running in and out of it.

This stage will reflect those giant Bowser battles, specifically the fight against the mountain. Players will fight atop the Fawful Express as it races along its track, circling the battle as Giant Bowser and the mountain fight back and forth, sometimes entering the mountain’s tunnel, sometimes being affected by the twists and turns of the fight.

Dreamy Pi'illo Island

Mario & Luigi: Dream Team’s main draw was that the game was played both in the real world that Mario lived in, as well as in the dream world inside Luigi’s mind. This dream world could be affected by stimuli in the real world, with Starlow messing with Luigi in his sleep, such as causing him to sneeze to cause strong winds to blow. If you went deep enough into the dream world, you would also find Dreams Deep, a trippy world of abstract shapes and concepts.

This stage would reflect that dream world, with a Dreamy Luigi icon in the background that would activate from time to time, blowing strong winds, speeding things up or slowing them down, and other such effects, drastically altering the layout of the stage. At certain points, the stage would warp into Dreams Deep and then return after a little while.

Massif Bros

As Mario, Luigi, and Dreambert continue their quest to awaken the ancient residents of the island and defeat Antasma, they have to traverse the real island and awaken every Pi’illo they can find. Some areas are easier to reach than others, and one of the most difficult to access is the active volcano Mount Pajamaja. They recruit a pair of musclebound brothers to help guide them up the mountain.

These are the Massif Bros, Big Massif and Little Massif. These brothers challenge you to beat them in combat before they agree to the job, and then when they do agree, they help to demonstrate new team abilities Mario and Luigi will require to get up the rocky pass.

In the game, the Massif brothers will have a heavy focus on strength and will act as a pair, just like the Mario brothers. Their moves will pull likewise from their initial boss battle as well as the abilities they help demonstrate to our heroes later on.

Likelihood rating: Never gonna happen

Prince Dreambert

As our heroes reach Pi’illo Island, they soon discover Antasma and Bowser’s plot and learn that the strange pillows lying here and there are not pillows at all, but the ancient inhabitants of the island, put into an eternal slumber centuries before. The first to be awakened is the people’s crowned prince and ruler.

This is Prince Dreambert, who, upon learning of his people’s fate, joins forces with the Mario brothers and becomes a constant companion to them throughout the game, helping them enter the dream world and awaken the rest of his people.

As a playable character, Dreambert will act as a representative for the game as a whole and all the dream mechanics within, including especially the abilities of Dreamy Luigi, which proves invaluable within the dream world. He will be light and floaty on his own, though summoning Dreamy Luigis will weigh him down and give him greater power.

Likelihood rating: Could happen

Antasma

Despite Nintendo’s crackdown on the Paper Mario series, the Mario & Luigi series managed to survive for at least one game longer, putting out a fourth game, Dream Team. This game saw the Mario brothers and Princess Peach traveling to an island where sleep is a big deal. On the way, Luigi suffers a nightmare wherein a strange vampiric creature attacks the airship.

This is Antasma, the main villain of Dream Team and an ancient nightmare creature in league with Bowser, who put the original residents of Pi’illo Island into an eternal sleep centuries before. He draws his power from nightmares and seeks to rule both the world of the living and the world of dreams.

As a fighter, Antasma will be powerful offensively, but will also be able to move in the shadows and use trickery to avoid harm. His moveset will pull from his various boss battles throughout the game and the abilities shown outside of battle.

Likelihood rating: Probably not

Broque Monsieur

Cast out of the castle with his minions, the Mario brothers, and the princess nowhere to be found, Bowser sets out to reclaim his kingdom and get his revenge on Fawful. He doesn’t go too far before he encounters a strange merchant made of blocks, working in the business of peddling the various item blocks found throughout the game.

This is Broque Monsieur, a flamboyant Frenchman who provides Bowser with a number of upgrades he needs to fight Fawful and Midbus. The merchant would appear again in the game’s sequel, Dream Team, accompanying the Mario brothers and Princess Peach to his home on Pi’illo Island, where a number of others of his species live and work.

Broque Monsieur will only take up the first color swap slot, a number of his other more prominent fellows acting as alternates, such as Madame Broque and Boss Brickle. Their moveset will pull from the various power-ups Broque provides Bowser, including his dog Broggy, and will also pull from various tools and items used by the blocky race throughout Dream Team as well.

Popple

Princess Peach in dire trouble, the Mario brothers and Bowser join forces to travel to the Beanbean Kingdom and find a cure. On the way though, up to even more of their tricks, Cackletta and Fawful attack Bowser’s cruiser, causing it to crash. Mario and Luigi come to with Bowser nowhere to be seen. Meanwhile, a greedy thief encounters a giant confused turtle with a bad case of amnesia.

This is Popple, a cowardly crook who takes Bowser under his wing as his personal muscle, making regular appearances throughout the game as their rival character, just like Croco and Jr. Troopa before him, and will crop up again in Mario & Luigi: Dream Team. He doesn’t do too much fighting himself, preferring to let others do the fighting, then running once they are defeated.

As a fighter, Popple will likewise not have too much going for him offensively, but he will have great speed and decent defense to make up for it. Though he lets others do his fighting, he does have a few scattered moves that will make up his moveset.

Likelihood rating: Probably not

Mario & Luigi

Paper Mario proved a huge success, but AlphaDream Studios had other ideas for directions to go with an RPG for the new Game Boy Advance system. They put together a new game called Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, built on the concept of the player controlling Mario and Luigi as a single unit.

With this new concept, the player controlled Mario and Luigi together, Mario programmed to two buttons on the pad and Luigi to two others. Together, they could switch back and forth as the leader and could perform a number of combo moves both in and out of battle.

This character is based on that concept. Mario and Luigi would be stylized to look like the art style of the Mario & Luigi series, differentiating them from the normal Mario and Luigi designs. Their moves would pull from all of their combo moves across the entire series, with two different versions based on which character is in the lead.

Character Sheet: Popple

 POPPLE

Today, we begin our newcomers. I did say going into this that the RPGs would likely be the last shot for many of the frequent enemies you wouldn't expect to see on a Smash roster, but what I didn't expect was that the RPGs would actually come through for a lot of them. At least one I thought was never going to happen in a million, billion years. But here we are. The first ten are all Mario regulars who finally took the step up to playable. The other sixteen are originals to the Mario & Luigi games (or Origami King) specifically.

1. Toadsworth

2. Captain Toad

3. Buzzy Beetle

4. King Bob-Omb

5. Pokey

6. Ninji

7. Thwomp

8. Whomp

9. Mechakoopa

10. Nabbit

11. Mario & Luigi

12. Prince Peasley

13. Prince Dreambert

14. Olivia

15. King Olly

16. Broque Monsieur

17. Massif Bros.

18. Cackletta

19. Fawful

20. Princess Shroob

21. The Dark Star

22. Antasma

23. Midbus

24. Shroob

25. Popple

26. Durmite/Wisdurm

Today, let's cover Popple, the recurring thief from Superstar Saga and Dream Team. Popple wasn't initially going to make it into the roster, as most of his fights involve him letting someone else do the fighting for him and then running away as soon as they are defeated. However, on a second go-over, he had just enough to convince me otherwise.

Among the various moves he uses when he's not running away are sneakily stealing the weapons of his opponents and using them against them, charging at an opponent and forcefully stealing a healing item from them, and pulling out a bag and tossing items from it. He can also use "Bros. Attacks" with his partners, the most famous of which is Rookie, an amnesiac Bowser, who will grab him and throw him into the air for a piledrive maneuver.

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Steal

This move is pretty simple. He will basically reach out and steal any item a character might be holding so that he might use it himself. Probably would have a timing element so as not to be broken, I imagine.

Side B: Charge

He will hop, pump his legs really fast, and charge headfirst into an opponent. Rather than take a healing item though, he will simply steal health, recovering as much damage as he dealt with the attack.

Up B: Bros. Attack

Rookie (with the distinctive headband so you don't confuse him for regular Bowser) will appear and throw Popple into the air, then jump up and chuck him toward the ground in the direction indicated by the player.

Down B: Loot Toss

He will pull out his bag of loot and toss out an item. These items can be hammers, soccer balls, or random items from the game.

Final Smash: Run Away

Now, a different possibility would be for him to simply piss something off (like the Wiggler from Dream Team) and then peace out as it rampages around the stage, but the best candidates I can think of are already playable here (Bowser, Birdo, and Wiggler). Another possibility that falls a bit into the experimental stage, but would be entirely on brand for the character, is that he simply decides to run away from battle, hopping off the stage but without his stocks and damage counter going away, effectively making him immune to losing lives and taking damage for a short time until he decides to get back into the action.

Entrance: It would be funny if his cover is blown and he just plays it off like he was always supposed to be there.

Taunts: Up would be his little hopping fit he does when he's really angry. Side, he would crouch and look back and forth with shifty eyes. Down, he might dig around in his bag like Nabbit does.

Thanks for reading! Next up, we will finish the newcomers with Durmite, or Wisdurm, the fairy-caterpillar creature from Bowser's Inside Story.

 ANTASMA

19. Fawful

20. Princess Shroob

21. The Dark Star

22. Antasma

23. Midbus

24. Shroob

25. Popple

26. Durmite/Wisdurm

Today, let's check out our final main villain of the Mario & Luigi series, the nightmarish vampire demon who put the Pi'illo people into a deep sleep that lasted for centuries. He and Bowser gang up to take over both the real world and the dream world, and he has all sorts of nightmare powers we can work with. Let's get started. So, to start off, Antasma has a nice big pair of claws to work with, he can take on a pillow form, and he can turn into a swarm of bats. He can create Dreamy Marios to serve him, similar to the Dreamy Luigis. He can create fire and smoke and open up chasms. He and Bowser work together to make dreambeats to put others to sleep. He can create duplicates of himself, throw balls of energy, create a circle of spikes around himself, and summon a dark shield. Definitely quite a bit to work with.

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Dreambeats

One of the main things he is known for, Antasma's main special will feature him setting off some dreambeats which will then put anyone within the radius displayed around him visibly to sleep.

Side B: Spike Circle

He can also summon up a circle of spikes around himself, which will offer him some protection by planting hazards in front of him for enemies to walk into

Up B: Swarm of Bats

His main exit and entrance will of course feature him transforming into a swarm of bats and flying upward. If the bats fly into anyone, they will do a bit of poison damage.

Down B: Dark Shield

This is based on the Dark Shield he summons during his battles. We have had a few shield down specials in this series now, but I guess that's just part of the Mario & Luigi mechanics.

Final Smash: Dreamy Bowser

For his final smash, he will summon up the technicolor Dreamy Bowser who will then rampage around the stage in his gigantic form.

Entrance: He'll fly in as a bat.

Taunts: Up, he will laugh maniacally while lightning strikes in the background. Side, he will spread himself out as bats and come back together. Down, he will transform into his pillow form and rest a while.

Thanks for reading! Next up, we'll cover our one single supporting villain this time around, Midbus!

Character Sheet: Massif Bros.

 MASSIF BROS.

21. The Dark Star

22. Antasma

23. Midbus

24. Shroob

25. Popple

26. Durmite/Wisdurm

Here's another odd one, though one I don't get irritated trying to read, so, hey, they're fun. The Massif Bros. are a pair of . . . sausages? . . . obsessed with beefing up, and who agree to guide Mario and Luigi up Pi'illo Island's Mount Pajamaja in Dream Team. When you first meet them, you have to beat the elder brother and his crew in combat before they will agree to guide you. In those battles, his minions will punch a rock out of the air toward you, charge at you, bounce across the top of smaller minions called Hooraws, and heal. After them, Big Massif will fight you, using moves similar to those of his minions, but can also increase his rage if the battle goes on too long. Later on the climb up the mountain, he and his brother work together, learning the spin jump and the spin drill along with the Mario bros. All in all, I'd say we have quite a bit to work with.

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Block Punch

A block will fall out of the air and the Massif Bros. will punch it, sending it forward as a projectile.

Side B: Spin Drill

The brothers will stack on top of each other and then drill sideways rapidly, just like the Spin Drill move as seen in the game.

Up B: Hooraws

Hooraws will appear underneath them and bounce them upward, as seen in Big Massif's and Thunder Sass's battles.

Down B: Beef Up

This will be kind of a combo of the Bros and their squad's healing moves and the rage meter, in that the Bros will use this move to heal themselves and get a boost to their stats.

Final Smash: Mount Pajamaja OR Beef Off

Two strong possibilities here. Either the dreamy version of Mount Pajamaja will come to life and attack, or the brothers will call in their crew: Sorry Fist, Heavy Zest, Thunder Sass, and Beef Cloud; to launch an all-out attack.

Entrance: They will punch through a rock and shout BEEF!

Taunts: All will be a version of them flexing and shouting "BEEF!" Up will be an overhead flex, Side will be the bicep display flew, and Down will be a crunching ab flex.

Thanks for reading! Next up, we'll start our villains off with Cackletta.

 BROQUE MONSIEUR

Today, we begin our newcomers. I did say going into this that the RPGs would likely be the last shot for many of the frequent enemies you wouldn't expect to see on a Smash roster, but what I didn't expect was that the RPGs would actually come through for a lot of them. 26. Durmite/Wisdurm

Time to get into weird territory. I can already feel the raised eyebrows. Trust me, I raised an eyebrow at myself as the moveset started to come together in my head as I was watching through Bowser's Inside Story and Dream Team, but my rule has always been that if they can make their case to me, I can't say no. So here they are. Technically, this will not just be the merchant with the obnoxiously written accent from Inside Story, but will be a composite of Broque Monsieur, Broque Madame, Boss Brickle, and Britta, each one being a color swap with one alternate color respectively. Broggy and the Blitties will also play into their moveset.

In Inside Story, Broque Monsieur primarily interacts with Bowser, creating blocks and selling them to him to give him added abilities. He expresses an obsession will little block cats called Blitties that Bowser then has to collect. Once he has collected enough, Broque will let Bowser make use of his large block dog Broggy as a special attack. Madame Broque also appears, and asks Bowser to give her a massage by . . . body slamming her back? Eh, whatever she's into, I guess. In Dream Team, we meet more of the Broque species, including Boss Brickle and his crew who are in charge of tending the gardens and fountains around Pi'illo Castle, and Britta, who runs an excavation crew out in the desert. Boss Brickle does a lot of handiwork, but two items of note are the Grobot, a malfunctioning watering robot, and a burst pipe that tends to send people sky high. And then we have Britta, who supplies the brothers with a special device called the drilldigger that they can drive around a track and use to drill and destroy rocks and blockages. Once I saw that, I knew it was over and they were in.

Here's the moveset:

Standard B: Block Maker

This is a move I've been messing with forever with Mario, Luigi, and the Toads, but as it's central to the concept of Broque and his species as a whole, it's only fitting for it to appear here. Broque (et al) will put together an item box and toss it up into the air. At that point, anyone can hit it and a random item will pop out.

Side B: Blitties

Broque will send a line of Blitties forward that will then jump up and tackle any opponent nearby for moderate damage.

Up B: Burst Pipe

This one is largely based on Boss Brickle. A pipe will burst underneath the character, spewing them into the sky and causing water to splash around the stage and do minimal damage.

Down B: Drilldigger

This one is based on Britta and her drilldigger machine. Using this move will make the drilldigger appear under the character and then you can press left or right to make the specific drill slam down, possibly doing damage to two different opponents at a time.

Final Smash: Broggy

Now, I was iffy on placement here. You could put a toned down version of Broggy in the Side B slot, use the Blitties for Standard B, and then use Grobot or the Dreamy Drilldigger as the final smash. As it is, I like the idea of Broque calling out Broggy, at which point Broggy would charge angrily across the stage.

Entrance: I would have the character start out in Broque's stand.

Taunts: Up, they will hold up a Blitty that will wriggle in their hand. Side, Grobot will come out and water the ground, making a flower grow. Down, they will lay down in various ways, Madame laying in her sexy pose.

Thanks for reading! Next up, we'll cover another oddball pick, the Massif Bros.

 PRINCE DREAMBERT

21. The Dark Star

22. Antasma

23. Midbus

24. Shroob

25. Popple

26. Durmite/Wisdurm

Today, let's cover Prince Dreambert, one of your main companions from Mario & Luigi: Dream Team and the main source of your dream-based abilities. Naturally, he is the prime pick for the game's gimmick rep, and as such, Dreamy Luigi will also technically be a part of all this too. Dreambert on his own can take on a pillow form, float upwards on a pillow, and he can make use of the dream bunny to drill into Dreams Deep, bounce on the Seadrings, and summon the Zeekeeper. Dreamy Luigi, however, adds a whole new dimension to it. First up, you have the Luiginoids, millions of Luigi clones who act together in various ways, taking on the forms of a stack, cone, or ball, and then ground pounding, spring jumping, spinning, spin jumping, swinging it around like a weapon, and treating it as a hookshot. All of these can work together to form the basis of a number of moves.

Here's his moveset:

Standard B: Luiginoids

While other dream items will make up his A moves and such, I feel the B moves are the perfect place for the Luiginoids (or maybe Dreambertnoids? if we wanted to make it more about Dreambert himself). His regular B will summon more and more Luiginoids to aid him. Without Luiginoids out, he will make use of more ordinary items for weaker attacks.

Side B: Luigi Ball

If he has Luiginoids, he will swing them around in a ball form and smack other players with it. If not, he will simply use a pillow.

Up B: Luigi Stack

With Luiginoids, he will have them stack up underneath him and then perform a spring jump. Without them, he will use a Seadring to perform a similar function.

Down B: Luigi Cone

With Luiginoids, he will form them into a cone shape and then spin them rapidly, doing heavy damage to those too close. Without Luiginoids, he will use a dream bunny as a much weaker drill.

Final Smash: Zeekeeper

He will toss the Zeekeeper Egg into the sky, and then the Zeekeeper will fly back down and ram through the stage.

Entrance: He will appear out of a dream portal.

Taunts: Up, he will spin upwards with a flourish of his cape and a ring of sparkles. Side, he will simply laugh his amazing, pore-cleansing laugh. Down, he will lay down and take up his pillow form.

Thanks for reading! Next up, we will cover your new companion from the most recent Paper Mario game, Olivia!

21. The Dark Star

22. Antasma

23. Midbus

24. Shroob

25. Popple

26. Durmite/Wisdurm

Today, we'll be covering Mario and Luigi. Now, I know, I know, we already have a Mario and a Luigi and several other variants in between. Isn't it a bit extraneous to just have them both working as a pair. So, I guess to be more specific, this is Mario & Luigi as they appear in the Mario and Luigi RPG series, with moves based entirely on their tag-team abilities in those games, and stylized to look like the game series' distinct style. Their star companion Starlow will also be a technical third member of the team, as she will fly around them and appear in a number of moves and taunts.

Across the games, the brothers have a butt-ton of moves to work with, and I will do my best to sort them out for you. They have base moves like jumping and swinging their hammers, and they can also use hand-abilities like shooting fireballs and lightning. They can switch around which brother is in the front, which can then affect which abilities they can perform. For instance, with Mario behind Luigi, he can put fire to Luigi's back and make him run faster. But in the reverse way, Luigi can electrify and paralyze Mario and pull him backwards. They can also perform various jumps, like the Spin Jump to spin on top of each other, or the high jump to bounce off of each other. They can also either smack each other with a hammer to make them tiny and then smack them around like a ball, or bury them underground at which point they can then pop up under an item or unsuspecting enemy. They also have a ton of Super-Moves to be used in battle, any one of which can be utilized as the "Final Smash." Honestly, it's a take-your-pick on that one.

Here's the moveset I've come up with:

Standard B: Fire Bros. OR Thunder Bros.

My concept for them is almost two separate movesets. Pressing Down B will switch whichever brother is up front, and then they will have different moves across the board. Much like Min Min, A and B will function to control the different brothers in that state, A controlling the one up front, so that his Standard A move will utilize his fire or lightning as a mere projectile, but the B will control the one in the back. With Mario in the back, he will light a fireball on Luigi, giving him a boost of speed. Luigi in the back will let him freeze up Mario and move him around as a human shield and give them added defense.

Side B: Ball Bros. OR Dig Bros.

Side A will make use of the brothers' hammers, just swinging them around with little difference. Side B, however, if Luigi is in the back, he will smack and shorten Mario and then smack him in the butt, sending him flying forward as a ball. If Mario is in the back, he will send Luigi straight into the ground. Luigi will stay that way until you press up, at which point he will fly up out of the ground, striking any walking over him.

Up B: Spin Jump OR High Jump

If Luigi is in the back, he will jump up on top of Mario and the pair will spin in the famous spin jump. If you just press the command, they will raise and spin side to side, though you can make them fly upward with another upward press, or send them into a side drill with a sideways press. If Mario is in the back, Luigi will pull out a spring cap and let Mario hop on top of him and send him flying skyward.

Down B: Switch Bros.

Basically, this will just switch them.

Final Smash: Bros. Attack

Honestly, there are soooooooo many fitting for a final for them, and I honestly have no idea which to pick from the large number of them. So, my stance is, pick your favorite. I have a few, like the one where they fire a bunch of fireballs into a massive meteor that then slams down on the enemy, or the one where they hop into a bunch of pipes and fire them off. It's possible it could be different based on who's in front like the other moves. Whichever you pick.

Entrance: They'll rise from the ground in one of those big pipes with the two sets of footprints on them.

Taunts: Most of their victory poses are fun. Up could be their victory screen with them punching the air and saying "Go Weegee, Go Weegee." Side could have Starlow fly around them and pull at Luigi's mustache. Down, could have both brothers fall asleep and Starlow float around them like she can't believe they're sleeping at a time like this.

Thanks for reading! Next up, we'll cover the dashing prince of the Beanbean Kingdom, Prince Peasley!

Character Sheet: Toadsworth

 TOADSWORTH

Today, we begin our newcomers. I did say going into this that the RPGs would likely be the last shot for many of the frequent enemies you wouldn't expect to see on a Smash roster, but what I didn't expect was that the RPGs would actually come through for a lot of them. At least one I thought was never going to happen in a million, billion years. But here we are. The first ten are all Mario regulars who finally took the step up to playable. The other sixteen are originals to the Mario & Luigi games (or Origami King) specifically.

1. Toadsworth

2. Captain Toad

3. Buzzy Beetle

4. King Bob-Omb

5. Pokey

6. Ninji

7. Thwomp

8. Whomp

9. Mechakoopa

10. Nabbit

11. Mario & Luigi

12. Prince Peasley

13. Prince Dreambert

14. Olivia

15. King Olly

16. Broque Monsieur

17. Massif Bros.

18. Cackletta

19. Fawful

20. Princess Shroob

21. The Dark Star

22. Antasma

23. Midbus

24. Shroob

25. Popple

26. Durmite/Wisdurm

Today, we will begin with Toadsworth, who was left out previously largely because Toadette was Toad's echo fighter, and I just didn't care enough about the character to give him a separate slot when he was largely just another Toad in terms of moves. However, when Professor Toad gave me the inspiration needed to make Captain Toad his own separate character, suddenly we had the freedom to, shall we say, move around some stuff. Toadette could be an echo of Toad or Captain Toad and it would work either way. And freeing up Toad left a nice opening for a Mario regular who'd been waiting in the wings long enough.

Here's his moveset:

Standard B: Pick Up and Throw
Probably a much weaker throw than the regular Toad

Side B: Ice Flower OR Boomerang Flower
Or maybe using his magic wand, which we can then retroactively give to the Toads.

Up B: Propeller Hat

Down B: Treasure Chest
Just pulls out items he can use or give to others.

Final Smash: Mega Mushroom
Honestly, the idea of Toadsworth tromping around as a giant adds a bit of a comedy element to it, I think.

Entrance: He steps out of a Toad House and clears his throat.

Taunts: I've recently had it pointed out to me that the taunts generally have a subtle direction to them. The Up Taunt has some kind of upward movement, Side is side-to-side or neutral, and Down has a downward movement. I'm going to try my hand at that. Up, he will wave his wand in the air and cause magic to appear. Side, he will do his signature cough. Down, he will sit down and take a load off for a while.

Next up: Let's cover Captain Toad, who is either the echo of Toadette or Toadette is the echo of him, whichever you prefer.

Character Sheet: Wiggler (Revision)

 WIGGLER

This will largely be our last run of revisions, for the Mario series at least. Now that the RPGs are over, pretty much every game left is either something we've already covered for the most part (Remakes, etc.), or run on a core game mechanic not unique to any one character (the Sports games). So, once these are done, I will do character sheets for new characters added and just a general sum up for everyone else. With all that said, let's get into it:

1. Mario
2. Luigi
3. Professor E. Gadd
4. Princess Peach
5. Toad
6. Toadette
7. Bowser
8. Dry Bowser
9. Bowser Jr.
10. Koopalings
11. Koopa Troopa
12. Dry Bones
13. Goomba
14. Piranha Plant
15. Boo
16. Cheep Cheep
17. Blooper
18. Bob-Omb
19. Lakitu
20. Monty Mole
21. Spike
22. Hammer Bro
23. Chargin' Chuck
24. Wiggler
25. Chain Chomp
26. Birdo
27. Petey Piranha
28. King Boo
29. Paper Mario
30. Yoshi
31. Baby Mario
32. Baby Bowser
33. Kamek
34. Shy Guy

Today, let's cover the Wiggler species. As is relatively common now, the Wigglers play notable roles in several games, generally having been ticked off in some way and the Mario brothers having to calm them down and then gain their help to get through an area. This type of plot appears in Dream Team, Paper Jam, and kind of in Bowser's Inside Story. Not really much new to say, as the Wigglers in question do a lot of what we expect of them anyway, although I did take notice of a ground pound they liked to do to make shockwaves occur this time.

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Panel

Side B: Charge

Up B: Flutter

Down B: Earthquake
I guess I already covered that part. Ah well.

Final Smash: Mechawiggler

Entrance: waking up from sleep.

Taunts: Bouncing a ball on his nose, rolling his body segments here and there.

Thanks for reading! Next up, let's cover the Chain Chomps.

Character Sheet: Dry Bones (Revision)

 DRY BONES

This will largely be our last run of revisions, for the Mario series at least. Now that the RPGs are over, pretty much every game left is either something we've already covered for the most part (Remakes, etc.), or run on a core game mechanic not unique to any one character (the Sports games). So, once these are done, I will do character sheets for new characters added and just a general sum up for everyone else. With all that said, let's get into it:

1. Mario
2. Luigi
3. Professor E. Gadd
4. Princess Peach
5. Toad
6. Toadette
7. Bowser
8. Dry Bowser
9. Bowser Jr.
10. Koopalings
11. Koopa Troopa
12. Dry Bones
13. Goomba
14. Piranha Plant
15. Boo
16. Cheep Cheep
17. Blooper
18. Bob-Omb
19. Lakitu
20. Monty Mole
21. Spike
22. Hammer Bro
23. Chargin' Chuck
24. Wiggler
25. Chain Chomp
26. Birdo
27. Petey Piranha
28. King Boo
29. Paper Mario
30. Yoshi
31. Baby Mario
32. Baby Bowser
33. Kamek
34. Shy Guy

Not much to say here. Dry Bones appear, as you'd expect, and mostly act as they always do. What more can I say?

Here is the character's moveset:

Standard B: Bone Throw

Side B: Shell Spin

Up B: Para Bones

Down B: Shell Cage

Final Smash: Zombie Horde

Entrance: Starting out as a pile of bones before coming together.

Taunts: Falling apart and coming together, tossing his head around, so on.

Next up: Let's cover the Goombas!

Character Sheet: Dry Bowser (Revision)

DRY BOWSER

This will largely be our last run of revisions, for the Mario series at least. Now that the RPGs are over, pretty much every game left is either something we've already covered for the most part (Remakes, etc.), or run on a core game mechanic not unique to any one character (the Sports games). 10. Koopalings
11. Koopa Troopa
12. Dry Bones
13. Goomba
14. Piranha Plant
15. Boo
16. Cheep Cheep
17. Blooper
18. Bob-Omb
19. Lakitu
20. Monty Mole
21. Spike
22. Hammer Bro
23. Chargin' Chuck
24. Wiggler
25. Chain Chomp
26. Birdo
27. Petey Piranha
28. King Boo
29. Paper Mario
30. Yoshi
31. Baby Mario
32. Baby Bowser
33. Kamek
34. Shy Guy

Not much to say here. Dry Bowser appears a couple of times in the Mario & Luigi series as an alternate for Bowser in the resident Battle Arena. As such, he mostly just fights like Bowser.

Here's his moveset:

Standard B: Fire Breath

Side B: Boulder
Bone ball, something like that.

Up B: Shell Spin

Down B: Slam Down

Final Smash: Giant Dry Bowser

Entrance: He'll rise from flames.

Taunts: Doing his more bony clinking roar, falling apart and coming back together, and so on.

Next up: Let's go over Bowser Jr.!

Character Sheet: Princess Peach (Revision)

 PRINCESS PEACH

This will largely be our last run of revisions, for the Mario series at least. 25. Chain Chomp
26. Birdo
27. Petey Piranha
28. King Boo
29. Paper Mario
30. Yoshi
31. Baby Mario
32. Baby Bowser
33. Kamek
34. Shy Guy

Today, let's cover Princess Peach. Although she appears in all games covered here, she really doesn't have much to go on. Most of the games, she spends half her time held captive by the respective enemy, and the other half of the time just kinda hanging around in the hub area. She gets cursed a couple times, gaining literally explosive vocabulary and growing a mushroom face at one point, but its pretty basic for her this time.

Here is her moveset:

Standard B: Group Hug
It's a good thing I got rid of that Toad counter move altogether considering certain coming developments. (Spoilers)

Side B: Sleepy Time

Up B: Parasol

Down B: Parasol Shield

Final Smash: Psych Bomb

Entrance: She floats down from the sky on her parasol.

Taunts: Her kiss of Mario at the end of many games could be one, a lot of her small movements throughout her cutscenes perhaps, some of her victory screens maybe.

Next up: It's time for Toad!

Mario & Luigi: Dream Team

 MARIO & LUIGI: DREAM TEAM

Today, we cover the fourth game in the Mario & Luigi, and sadly the first game without Fawful (he will be missed). It's still fun, so what can I say? Dream Team follows Mario and Luigi and their friends to the far off Pi'illo Island, where an ancient civilization of . . . um, pillow people were placed under a curse by an evil nightmarish demon.

Our main playable characters in this game are Mario and Luigi in a tag team once again. That is, outside of the dream world. Inside the dream world, which you enter through Luigi sleeping, Mario is paired up with Dreamy Luigi, a dream version of Luigi who can perform a number of abilities based on what he's dreaming about. The regular brothers can do a lot of their basics, like jumping and whacking with hammers, using fire flowers, burrowing underground and getting squashed, rolling into a ball, and spin jumping. They also gain the ability to drill sideways when spin jumping. In battle, they get a bunch of special moves again, like 3D Red and Green Shells, a cannon that launches them, a series of bombs, a jet-board, a helicopter hat, a slingshot to launch Luigi, a star rocket, and an egg to unleash a giant rainbow bird to attack.

Dreamy Luigi is a difficult one. He has a lot of unique moves, some that would apply well to a moveset, some that would apply better to a stage as they are more environmental effects. The environmental effects include flinging with a tree branch mustache, sneezing to create wind, spinning a drill, speed you up, switch between cold and hot temperatures, switch around gravity, possess a pinwheel to create wind, and remove gravity (I would honestly kill for a stage based on this game). His more battle-worthy mechanics are built around the Luiginoids, a bunch of Luigi clones who come together into different shapes, specifically a stack, a cone, and a ball. The stack can both ground pound and spring jump, the cone can spin and perform a spin jump like in the real world, and the ball can be swung around as a weapon and used like a hookshot. He can also become a giant for giant monster battles. If it weren't for the fact that Dreamy Luigi bears no distinct visual difference from the stylized Luigi of the game, I would totally include him. That said, at least we have a character who can justifiably use all the moves listed above.

Mario and Luigi are accompanied on their journey this time by two main companions. Starlow returns, having for some reason picked up a mean-spirited attitude toward Luigi, insulting him at every opportunity. While this does not do good things for her character, it at least gives some gameplay relevance, as her picking at Luigi's sleeping face causes most of the Dreamy Luigi environmental effects. More importantly though, we are joined by Prince Dreambert, prince of the ancient civilization and wielder of the most wholesome laugh you've ever heard. Being the prince of dreams, he can of course represent most the game's dream effects, including everything Dreamy Luigi-related, so that solves that problem. He also has a pillow form and can open portals to the dream world.

Other allies in the game include Princess Peach and Toadsworth, several Pi'illos like Eldream and the Bedsmith, the scientist Dr. Snoozemore, a dream bunny who can drill into the depths of the dream world, Seadring creatures that bounce, and a whole host of Monsieur Broque's species, include Broque and Broggy themselves, a handyman named Boss Brickle, and a construction foreman named Britta who supplies them with a machine called the drilldigger, all of this effectively and surprisingly confirming them a spot in the roster. Popple and Kylie Koopa both make a surprising return, probably to make up for the lack of recurring Fawful, with Popple being mostly up to his old cowardly thieving tricks, and Kylie collects pictures from you. Finally, we have the Massif Bros., a pair of BEEFy brothers who act as your tour guides up a mountain and effectively acting as a conglomerate of the pairs from the first game who taught you how to do certain moves. This effectively notches all of those onto their pallet, alongside your battles with them and their crew when you first meet them, with moves such as punching rocks, charging, stomping, bouncing around, stacking up, throwing blocks, and healing. (What's with all the oddballs getting . . . oh, right, Mario & Luigi series. That's why you love them).

Next up is our villains. Bowser and his minions Bowser Jr., Kamek, and the three that backstabbed him in the last game (awfully willing to forgive of Bowser, I guess), are all here, but they have formed an alliance with the being who cast the curse on Pi'illo Island, Antasma. Antasma fights mostly with his claws, can turn into a cloud and pillow form, split into a swarm of bats, create Dreamy Marios to attack Luigi in his dreams, shoot fire and smoke, create chasms, screech loudly, use dreambeats to make others fall asleep, power up, create duplicates, throw energy balls, create a circle of spikes around him, summon spidery minions, and cast a dark shield.

Bowser does a lot of the basics, stomping, breathing fire, rolling into a ball form, punching, sucking in, growing gigantic, charging, grabbing, body slamming, and spinning in his shell. Basically, the last game's Bowser. He also has a Dreamy version that acts as the final boss (because we have to end on a Bowser battle). In this form, he also breathes fire, can create duplicates of himself, slam with his fist, charge, create minions, make shockwaves, pull, and throw. Bowser Jr. floats around in his Koopa Klown Kar, as is the standard, and can throw spike balls and Bob-Ombs, breathes fire, and tickles with a paintbrush. Kamek does his standard flying around on a broom, casting spells, splitting into duplicates, and summoning enemies.

Our bosses include: Grobot, a malfunctioning robot that shoots water at you; Torkscrew, a burrowing drill creature that spins through the air and spits out mines; Mammoshka, a mammoth nesting doll that charges at you, throws snowballs and boulders, and sucks you in;and the Pi'illodium, an ancient statue that can act as a hammer, spawn smaller versions of itself to attack you, shoot lasers, fire missiles, and self-destruct. In Luigi's giant form, he fights a giant robot form of the drilldigger; Mount Pajamaja, a living volcano; Earthwake, basically a city come to life; and Zeekeeper, a rainbow bird that fires a wakebeam.

Returning enemies include Fly Guys, Goombas, Lakitus, Spinies, Piranha Plants, Viruses, Bandits, Wigglers, Beanies, Flibbees, Beehosses, Boomerang Bros., Fire Bros., Mechakoopas, Shy Guys, Chain Chomps, and Dry Bones. The rest are basically new, both real world and dream enemies. Real world enemies include Grombas, basically Goombas; Bloatulas, spider enemies; spiky Thorbs; sleepy Capnaps; sand-swimming Flounderflages; Sandoons made of sand; living cactuses called Caccacs; Hermite Crabs; rock-balancing Monolifts; living dumbbells called Grumbells; fire-breathing pterodactyls called Pi'illodactyls; clams called Durapurls; laser-shooting statues called Eyepi'illos; and flaming Antasmaton guards. In the dream world, we have fire-spitting Storches; dragonfly-like Propellions; bomb-throwing Lob-Ombs; living drills called Skipdrills; living coconuts called Cocoknights; living clocks called Ticksquawks; weight-throwing statues called Chizzles; icy and lava-made Iceads and Magmads; an urn that looks like a Blooper; a dark item block; a living trash can called Krubbish; poisonous flowers called Spritzblooms; egg-dropping birds called Pelicrumps; and magical servants of Antasma called Antasmans.

As for our locations, we start at Peach's Castle, but quickly move to Pi'illo Island and its central Pi'illo Castle, the castle grounds Mushrise Park, a desert called Dozing Sands, a city called Wakeport, a volcano called Mount Pajamaja, the beach Driftwood Beach, a forest called Somnom Woods, and a transformed Neo Bowser's Castle. Each of these have a Dreamy form, and last but not least we have the acid trip of a level called Dream's Deep, a deeper subconscious level of the dream world.
