In Paper Mario’s sequel, the Thousand-Year Door, the plot centers around a seedy seaport where all kinds of criminals hang out and do their business. The game also added a bit more of a stage play element to its battle system, each fight taking place on a stage with an audience watching them that could often throw items to the fighters or get involved themselves.
This stage will combine those elements. The main battle will take place on the stage of the battle system, with the central plaza of Rogueport in the background, complete with gallows. An audience will be watching the action take place, occasionally throwing items or jumping onstage to attack a character. It could also be fun to see the Shadow Queen’s tendrils rise and pull the audience down into her shadows, but it’s not necessary.
