Mario

That initial arcade game Donkey Kong was a huge success. Soon, you couldn’t turn a corner without seeing images of that big ape and his plumber nemesis everywhere. Soon it spawned a sequel casting Jumpman as the villain, with Donkey Kong’s son coming to rescue him. From there, our two combatants destiny split, Donkey Kong going off to fight an exterminator in a greenhouse, and Mario heading down to the sewers to fight crabs and turtles.

Mario Bros. debuted in 1983 and ushered in a new era for the plumber named Mario. First off, he gained a brother in a green color-swap named Luigi, and soon starred in the flagship game for the Nintendo Entertainment System console, launching him into popularity as the most famous video game character of all time, a title he still clings to to this very day. He would mostly leave his blue-collar roots behind, instead taking on a more whimsical and fantastical playstyle wherein eating mushrooms and flowers would grant him superpowers he could use to save a princess from a giant dragon-turtle.

As you might expect, Mario is a jack-of-all-trades, a perfect medium in terms of weight, strength, speed, defense, anything else you might care to mention. His moveset will largely pull from his power-up, at least, the most famous and iconic in the series, such as his famous fireball. He does have several alts to speak of, like Jumpman, with more specialized movesets here and there, but this one is the base.
