Bob-Omb

As Mario and his friends move forward, they encounter more and more strange creatures across the game’s seven worlds. Among them is another of the three most prominent to carry over into the main series: living, walking bombs dropped from above by their Albatoss companions.

These are the Bob-Ombs, who would go on to have a long and illustrious career in the Super Mario Bros. series. Although often used as items, they would see heavy use as enemies, their king would become a prominent figure among Bowser’s forces, and three would become strong allies to Mario in his paper adventures: Bombette, Bobbery, and Bobby, all three of whom will be represented in their color swaps.

As fighters, they will be small and light, with minimal defense but huge power behind most of their moves. Glass cannons if you will. Most of their moves will be explosion based, some immediate, some remote and timed, also pulling from their Albatoss companions, the cannons used by their forces in Super Mario 64, and the movesets provided by Bombette and Bobbery.

Likelihood rating: Piranha Plant clause
