LEGO MARIO
And now, we come to the end. The very last character for our roster, from the very last pieces of Mario media. It has been two and a half years, a lot of work, and a lot of headaches. I remember I was just getting it started when Banjo & Kazooie was announced for Smash Ultimate, and a lot has changed since then. Let's get into it, shall we?
LEGO's Mario line was first produced in 2020 and has since seen several sets released. Most came with touch pads that reacted to the touch pads on the Mario figure that made him light up and make sounds from the game. He also came with several power-ups including Fire, Propeller, Cat, Builder, Penguin, Tanooki, Frog, and Bee power-ups. Outside of those, the sets allowed him to use POW Blocks to take out enemies, a hammer to spin around and take out Pokey sections, a Koopa shell to launch, a cannon to be launched from, a collapsible tower, a hammock to restore health, and standard spinning and balancing platforms. That should be more than enough.
Here's the moveset I came up with:
Standard B: Fire Mario
His Fire Mario suit will appear on him. He will press himself and his pad will light up with the fire flower sound effect, as a round red fire lego will bounce forward from him.
Side B: Pokey Hammer
He will hop onto the Pokey hammer build from the desert set, press down on it, and cause it to spin around and smack into anyone within range.
Up B: Propeller Mario
His Propeller Suit will appear. He will spin straight upward through the air as the pad on his feet lights up and a series of coin sound effects will sound.
Down B: POW Block
Considering how often it crops up . . . Mario will hop on top of a POW Block. However, instead of causing an earthquake like you might expect in the game, it will simply press up on a lever under a Stone-Eye that will appear, causing it to fall over and crush opponents.
Final Smash: LEGO Mario Build
Basically, Lego pieces specifically from the sets will fall from the sky and land in random locations, eventually constructing a randomly selected set from the series. Anyone caught under a piece will be sent flying. When the set is complete, it will flash for a second before the entire thing explodes, sending the pieces flying.
Entrance: A hand will place Mario on a pad and it will play a little starting jingle.
Taunts: Up, Mario will hop up and down on a pad, lighting it up. Side, Mario will spin his little claw hand. Down, Mario will fall to his individual pieces.
