Just behind those first Bloopers, along swim schools of bright red fish that don’t seem particularly concerned with those swimming around them.
These are Cheep Cheeps, the most basic enemy filling the seas. While they are the most basic, they have multiple cousins of similar appearance but different abilities, including the hungry Cheep Chomps, the sleeping Rip Van Fish, the massive Big Bertha, and the spike-covered Porcupuffer. On occasion, a Cheep Cheep will act as an ally to Mario, such as Sushie, the friend Yoshi babysitter from Paper Mario.
In game, they will be able to move as if they were in water, swimming back and forth and hovering just over the ground, sometimes flopping across it as Sushie would. They will be middling in ability, much like Goombas, and their moveset will pull from their ability to leap from the water and spray a line of spit from their mouths, and will bring in the abilities of their multiple cousins and the moveset of Sushie as well.
