A stork flies high in the sky over Yoshi’s Island, carrying two small infants on their way to their parents’ house. Koopa minions in red hoods swarm the stork, taking it and one of the babies hostage, while the other falls, escaping their grasp and landing on a passing Yoshi below.
This is the baby form of Mario, who is taken in by the Yoshis of the island who agree to help him rescue his twin brother. Mario as a baby would prove the constant companion for Yoshi throughout his games, sometimes alongside other babies such as his brother Luigi, Peach, Daisy, Rosalina, Wario, and Donkey Kong.
This fighter will be an amalgam of all the babies that appear in the series, with Baby Mario acting as the first color swap, with Luigi, Peach, Daisy, Wario, Waluigi, Rosalina, and Donkey Kong as the other seven. Their moves will pull from all of the abilities demonstrated by the babies across the series.
