The first Wario Ware proved a success, seeing an expanded release on the Game Cube and several more sequels in the years to come. Often, the unique microgame setup allowed for the series to be a strong means of demonstrating the new gimmicks that each console brought. For instance, the first sequel, Twisted!, was set on the Game Boy Advance and made good use of the system’s rotational mechanics. All the main characters returned, with 9-Volt picking up a best friend in the form of the school new kid, looking a bit too big for his grade.
This is 18-Volt, who would quickly become 9-Volt’s partner-in-crime throughout his framing stories, the two bonding over their shared love of video gaming. Though the pair would separate a bit, with each eventually gaining their own framing stories, their continued friendship is undeniable.
18-Volt will play similar in many ways to 9-Volt, though he will be much bigger and slower, with more punch to him. His moveset will likewise pull from his Nintendo-themed microgames, as well as his few demonstrated abilities outside of that.
