13-Amp

13-AMP

Over in 18-Volt’s personal story, he finds that one of his friends had his 3DS stolen. He finds the girl that stole it, and challenges her to a rap battle to get it back.

This is 13-Amp. After getting beaten, she develops a friendship with 18-Volt and reappears in his story in Get It Together, before joining the team of developers when they visit Caresaway Island in Move It!

As a fighter, she will be more or less a clone of 18-Volt, just adjusted slightly to have more of a musical focus. She won’t be quite as strong as 18-Volt, with more a focus on defense and speed.

Likelihood rating: Probably not.

Character Sheet: 13-Amp

13-AMP

And now, with the release of Wario Ware: Move It! we gain three newcomers. However, since Cicada did originate as a Rhythm Heaven character, and only appeared briefly here, I have chosen to follow one side of the responses I received, and will be treating her as a guest character for now, leaving us with:

1. 13-Amp

2. Leo

13-Amp originated in Wario Ware Gold as a new rival/friend for 18-Volt, competing against him in a rap battle and having a heavy musical focus. She would return in Get It Together, and even be treated as a developer in Move It! (despite still only being a supporting character in 9-Volt's story). As none of the "Volts" were echoes for each other, I think it works just fine for her to be an echo or semi-clone of 18-Volt, and so, she will be.

Here's her moveset:

Standard B: Boom Box

Probably with a much higher output to it.

Side B: DJ Record

To go along with the throwing disk from his hair, 13-Amp will use a record from a DJ's table to do the same.

Up B: Jetpack

Probably won't work as well as his would.

Down B: Amiibo

Hers will be all music-based. We'll have characters like Barbara from Daigasso, the Chorus Kids, characters from Rhythm Heaven, the band from Wii Music, and Donkey Kong playing bongos.

Final Smash: Rock Concert

She will become the DJ at a concert, with lights blaring around and people dancing, the music coming to a head and launching the player.

Entrance: She will come on with her boom box while rocking out to tunes.

Taunts: Up, she will throw her hands in the air in the "Rock On!" hand gesture. Side, she will work a DJ stand for a second. Down, she will play with a DS for a second.

Kirby Hat: Her hat

Kart: Based on a DJ stand

Special Move: Her kart will start playing music and getting boosts from the beat.

Spirit Battle: On Nintendo Classics, with 18-Volt.

Victory Screen: She will be rocking out to an amazing party.

Losing Screen: She will be slumped on a street corner, looking amazed.

Color Swaps: Her purple hat, a green hat, a red hat, a yellow hat, a black and red hat, a blue hat, a brown hat, a white hat.

Thanks for reading! Next up, Leo runs wild!

Diamond City Stadium

One Wario Ware game that did have a distinct location to act as a representative stage was Wario Ware Gold. After Wario stole what he thought was a precious treasure, he decided to host a gaming tournament with the treasure as the grand prize, set within the local stadium.

The stage will be set within the stadium, with one large platform, and Wario’s game elevator in the center. The elevator will move up a level every single time a character is defeated, altering the stage just slightly as it does. Crowds will cheer the fighters on from the stands.

Lulu

The Wario Ware series would see multiple entries throughout the years, each time bringing back its colorful cast of characters with new unique mechanics, including a D.I.Y. game that let you design your own microgames, and a semi-spinoff in Game & Wario. In 2018, the series released Wario Ware Gold, one of the last games developed for the 3DS. The game’s story saw Wario stealing a precious treasure from the nearby Luxeville, only for him to then be challenged by a little girl determined to get it back.

This is Lulu, the hero of Luxeville who set out to take down Wario after he stole their community toilet. She would appear throughout the story of the game, eventually facing him in a showdown at the game’s end. Despite this history, she would apparently agree to work as one of his developers in the next game.

As a fighter, Lulu will have average stats, with a lot of good speed and aerials but not much power. Her moveset will pull from the various tools and weapons she uses against Wario in Gold as well as her ability to fly with her bow in Get It Together.

Likelihood rating: Probably not

5-Volt

After 9-Volt and 18-Volt form their friendship, 9-Volt takes his new pal back home to his house so they can play games together. This is where we get our first glimpse of 9-Volt’s mother, peeking in on her son and his companion from time to time.

This is 5-Volt, 9-Volt’s mother who wouldn’t rise to prominence until the release of Game & Wario, where 9-Volt’s personal game centered on his playing games late at night when he’s supposed to be sleeping, incurring his mother’s surprisingly demonic wrath. From there, she would go on to develop some of her own microgames, demonstrating her own love of gaming.

As a fighter, 5-Volt will have generally average stats, but with a ton of strength you wouldn’t expect from her. Her moveset will pull from her demonic alter ego, her super strength gained from her framing story in Gold, and her Nintendo-based microgames.

Likelihood rating: Piranha Plant clause

18-Volt

The first Wario Ware proved a success, seeing an expanded release on the Game Cube and several more sequels in the years to come. Often, the unique microgame setup allowed for the series to be a strong means of demonstrating the new gimmicks that each console brought. For instance, the first sequel, Twisted!, was set on the Game Boy Advance and made good use of the system’s rotational mechanics. All the main characters returned, with 9-Volt picking up a best friend in the form of the school new kid, looking a bit too big for his grade.

This is 18-Volt, who would quickly become 9-Volt’s partner-in-crime throughout his framing stories, the two bonding over their shared love of video gaming. Though the pair would separate a bit, with each eventually gaining their own framing stories, their continued friendship is undeniable.

18-Volt will play similar in many ways to 9-Volt, though he will be much bigger and slower, with more punch to him. His moveset will likewise pull from his Nintendo-themed microgames, as well as his few demonstrated abilities outside of that.

Likelihood rating: Piranha Plant clause

Mona

Probably one of the first to throw her hat into the mix was a local go-getter high school student, who spends most of her time jumping from job to job, doing everything she can to get ahead in life.

This is Mona, a cheerleader/gelato shop worker/pizza delivery girl/etc. with a distinct and stated crush on Wario, despite being one of the first to call him out on his crap when he pulls it. Her microgames tend to be categorized as “Weird” which I often take to be the random stuff she’s doing to get ready as she rushes from job to job.

As a fighter, she will be fast, due to her tendency to rush around all the time, with more average stats on the rest. Her moveset will incorporate her three helpful pets, her various jobs she has worked, and her “weird” microgames.

Likelihood rating: Good possibility

Dribble & Spitz

Two more developers who readily agreed to go along with Wario’s schemes were a duo: a bulldog and a cat who worked together as cab drivers, whose late night pickups had a tendency to get them wrapped up in supernatural goings-on.

These are Dribble the Bulldog and Spitz the Cat. They are best friends and are rarely seen apart from one another. Most of the time, their microgames tended to be science fiction-themed, as did many of their framing stories.

As fighters, the two will be together inside of their cab, driving it around the stage while Spitz takes aim with their in-car bazooka. Their moveset will pull from their various out-of-this-world adventures and similar microgames.

Likelihood rating: Could happen

Character Sheet: Lulu (Wario Ware)

LULU

Let's begin our character sheets for our Wario Ware characters. Although it felt a little touch and go there, with most gameplay not being tied to the characters themselves, each one did do enough across the nine games to warrant their inclusion, with the only one I really had to fudge a little being Mike. (At that point, with everyone else in, it just felt a little wrong to leave him out). Either way, here they are:

1. Wario
2. Biker Wario
3. Mona
4. Jimmy T.
5. Ashley & Red
6. 9-Volt
7. 18-Volt
8. 5-Volt
9. Kat and Ana
10. Young Cricket
10e. Master Mantis
11. Dribble & Spitz
12. Dr. Crygor
12e. Penny Crygor
13. Mike
14. Orbulon
15. Lulu

Today, let's finish things off with Lulu. Lulu was introduced in Wario Ware: Gold as a story-relevant character who didn't act as a host but rather an antagonist for Wario. She hails from Luxeville, where Wario stole the . . . ahem, toilet. After his theft, Lulu set out on a quest to take it back, proclaiming herself the hero of Luxeville. Throughout the game, we are treated to cutscenes of her preparing to take on Wario, culminating in a final boss battle with him.

Her moveset seems simple at first with her using a squirt gun and arrows as her main weapons and floating around on a balloon a few times. You might even toss in Ruffington, the dog she befriends in her cutscenes, but it still doesn't quite seem like enough, but then you remember the superpowers the toilet somehow gave Wario, including the ability to fly and throw lightning, and then you think she just might have a shot.

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Squirt Gun
She will charge up her squirt gun and fire a blast of water across the stage at her opponents.

Side B: Bow and Arrow
This one will be based on the bow and arrow she uses to fight Wario, and will function much like Link's.

Up B: Balloon
A balloon will pop out and carry her up into the air, similar to Villager's own move.

Down B: Ruffington
Ruffington the dog will lunge out and latch himself onto the opponent's leg, growling and fighting to protect his new friend.

Final Smash: Treasure of Luxeville
She will place the golden toilet atop her head, which will give her all the powers granted to Wario during their boss fight. She will float into the air, start to glow, and shoot lightning from her hands at all of her opponents.

Entrance: Maybe just standing all tough and shouting "I'm gonna get you!"

Taunts: Hugging Ruffington, training her skills with a target, maybe dancing around like she needs to use the restroom, so on.

Thanks for reading! Now, let's put together our almost definitive Wario roster!

Character Sheet: Penny Crygor (Wario Ware)

PENNY CRYGOR

Let's begin our character sheets for our Wario Ware characters. Although it felt a little touch and go there, with most gameplay not being tied to the characters themselves, each one did do enough across the nine games to warrant their inclusion, with the only one I really had to fudge a little being Mike. (At that point, with everyone else in, it just felt a little wrong to leave him out). Either way, here they are:

1. Wario
2. Biker Wario
3. Mona
4. Jimmy T.
5. Ashley & Red
6. 9-Volt
7. 18-Volt
8. 5-Volt
9. Kat and Ana
10. Young Cricket
10e. Master Mantis
11. Dribble & Spitz
12. Dr. Crygor
12e. Penny Crygor
13. Mike
14. Orbulon
15. Lulu

Today's will be fairly simple. Penny Crygor was introduced in Smooth Moves as Dr. Crygor's granddaughter in her own right. Her stories more often than not involve her grandfather in some way, like them competing against each other in Smooth Moves or developing the Super MakerMatic together in D.I.Y. Gold so far has been one of the few to differentiate the two, with her developing a voice-changing serum in hopes of becoming a pop star. All in all, an excellent case for an echo fighter.

Here's her moveset:

Standard B: Special Elixir
This may be exactly her voice-changing serum, just the faulty one.

Side B: Gravitator
Same as her grandfather.

Up B: Jetpack
Same as her grandfather.

Down B: Toilet Backup
Not quite as tied to her, but it works all the same. Maybe she tried an experiment in it.

Final Smash: Gravitator Robot Form
The gravitator will probably have a different look, more fitting to Penny's personal style.

Entrance: Fly in on her jetpack

Taunts: do some dance moves, drink a working version of the voice elixir and sing a few bars, work a little bit on a robot, so on.

Thanks for reading! Next up, we'll cover her grandfather's karaoke robot, Mike!

Character Sheet: Master Mantis (Wario Ware)

MASTER MANTIS

Let's begin our character sheets for our Wario Ware characters. Although it felt a little touch and go there, with most gameplay not being tied to the characters themselves, each one did do enough across the nine games to warrant their inclusion, with the only one I really had to fudge a little being Mike. (At that point, with everyone else in, it just felt a little wrong to leave him out). Either way, here they are:

1. Wario
2. Biker Wario
3. Mona
4. Jimmy T.
5. Ashley & Red
6. 9-Volt
7. 18-Volt
8. 5-Volt
9. Kat and Ana
10. Young Cricket
10e. Master Mantis
11. Dribble & Spitz
12. Dr. Crygor
12e. Penny Crygor
13. Mike
14. Orbulon
15. Lulu

This one won't take too much in the way of explanation. Master Mantis is Young Cricket's mentor who trains him in the ways of martial arts. This logically follows that Master Mantis can do pretty much everything Cricket can, and probably more but we never get to see any of that. So, plain and simple, he will be Cricket's echo fighter.

Here is his moveset:

Standard B: Grab the Dumpling
Probably a bit faster and more precise than his pupil's.

Side B: Balance the Broom
Will probably have a longer stretch of time before the broom falls, as he would have more balance.

Up B: Leap
Maybe less high and quick, as he might not be as nimble and energetic as his younger trainee.

Down B: Meditate
The move will heal his damage rather than increase his attack power.

Final Smash: The Form Baton
Pretty much the same.

Entrance: Walking on with his knapsack slung over his shoulder, just like his pupil.

Taunts: switching between a number of poses, just like his student. Eating a couple of dumplings. Meditating for a second.

Thanks for reading! Next up, let's cover our favorite cabbie duo, Dribble and Spitz!

Character Sheet: Young Cricket (Wario Ware)

YOUNG CRICKET

Let's begin our character sheets for our Wario Ware characters. Although it felt a little touch and go there, with most gameplay not being tied to the characters themselves, each one did do enough across the nine games to warrant their inclusion, with the only one I really had to fudge a little being Mike. (At that point, with everyone else in, it just felt a little wrong to leave him out). Either way, here they are:

1. Wario
2. Biker Wario
3. Mona
4. Jimmy T.
5. Ashley & Red
6. 9-Volt
7. 18-Volt
8. 5-Volt
9. Kat and Ana
10. Young Cricket
10e. Master Mantis
11. Dribble & Spitz
12. Dr. Crygor
12e. Penny Crygor
13. Mike
14. Orbulon
15. Lulu

Today, let's cover Young Cricket, a new character introduced in Smooth Moves, who has been a constant regular ever since. He comes to Diamond City while training with his master, Mantis, in a "Karate Kid"-style partnership. In Smooth Moves, he has to get to the front of the line to get some dumplings by walking over the other patrons' heads, though several quick cutscenes also show him doing a number of stereotypical martial arts actions like punching, kicking, doing a handstand, and balancing. Most of his microgames are based on keeping the wiimote balanced as well. In D.I.Y., he and his master simply run the game dojo. His Game & Wario appearance sees him jumping really high in order to pass an obstacle course set by his master. He can also dive downward super-fast if he needs to. Finally, in Gold, he and Master Mantis "train" by visiting an amusement part and riding a carousel. I think a lot of these can work well toward a moveset. I also think the form baton in general ought to be considered here, as he was the main newcomer (separate from anyone else) to the game.

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Grab the Dumpling
This one is based on his and his master's love of dumplings. He will pull out a pair of chopsticks and suddenly dash forward as if grabbing at one. If he connects, he will pull away an actual dumpling that will heal some health (the same amount taken from the opponent).

Side B: Balance the Broom
This one is based on a frequent microgame of his and ties into his theme of balance very well. He will pull out a broom that he will have to balance on his hand for a short time. At an unexpected moment, he will lose his balance and drop the broom, which will land on anyone nearby.

Up B: Leap
This is based on his Game & Wario appearance. Basically, he will just jump high into the air. If a further command is pressed, he can dive back down again with his foot kicking at whatever is below him, otherwise he will just float slowly down.

Down B: Meditate
He will do the iconic crane pose and maintain his balance, meditating in the process. This move will slowly increase his attack power the longer it is held down.

Final Smash: The Form Baton
He will hold up the Form Baton, and a number of Splunks from the Temple of Form will appear behind him. He will tilt the baton in various directions, and any opponents in the specific direction pointed will be attacked by the Splunks.

Entrance: Walking on with his knapsack slung over his shoulder.

Taunts: switching between a number of poses, like Luigi's taunt. Perhaps a simple bow. So on.

Thanks for reading! Next up, we'll cover his trainer, Master Mantis!

Character Sheet: 5-Volt (Wario Ware)

5-VOLT

Let's begin our character sheets for our Wario Ware characters. Although it felt a little touch and go there, with most gameplay not being tied to the characters themselves, each one did do enough across the nine games to warrant their inclusion, with the only one I really had to fudge a little being Mike. (At that point, with everyone else in, it just felt a little wrong to leave him out). Either way, here they are:

1. Wario
2. Biker Wario
3. Mona
4. Jimmy T.
5. Ashley & Red
6. 9-Volt
7. 18-Volt
8. 5-Volt
9. Kat and Ana
10. Young Cricket
10e. Master Mantis
11. Dribble & Spitz
12. Dr. Crygor
12e. Penny Crygor
13. Mike
14. Orbulon
15. Lulu

5-Volt is a character that hasn't seen that much screen time, mostly just appearing in the background of 9-Volt's stories on occasion, simply playing the role of his mother. She has come into her own in recent titles, what with her terrifying appearance in 9-Volt's Game & Wario story that then made for an excellent Smash stage, alongside the revelation that she's a bit of a gamer herself (beating both 9-Volt and 18-Volt's high scores), and then got an entire story of her own in Wario Ware: Gold. In that story, she watches an infomercial for a super-frying pan that requires a special workout to use it. Upon doing the workout, 5-Volt discovers she has developed super-strength as a result. Happy mother's day, 5-Volt. This one's for you!

Here's her moveset:

Standard B: Frying Pan
5-Volt whips out the frying pan that required super strength to use, swinging it as hard as she can and spinning like a cyclone. This move is a major heavy hitter if it can be pulled off right.

Side B: Floodlight Vision
Her eyes will light up like floodlights and scan the stage, starting directly in front of her and rising until the beam is directly horizontal. If it connects with anyone, she will then briefly take on her monstrous appearance and roar, sending the opponent flying.

Up B: Balloon Fighter
An 8-Bit Balloon Fighter will pop up, grab 5-Volt, and carry her high into the sky before dropping her after it can't carry her anymore. This game is particularly prevalent across their games, so I suppose it's fitting for the most part.

Down B: Amiibo
Once again, this move was shared by her son and his best friend, it only fits that she share the move as well. Hers will be 64-bit graphics, rather than the 8-bit and 16-bit graphics of the others, and they will include: Donkey Kong, who will roll around the stage, punching characters; Mario Kart, which will race forward; Yoshi, who will stand in one place and chuck eggs; Fire Emblem, with the general staying by 5-Volt and protecting her from attack while sending soldiers to each opponent to attack them; and Young Link from Ocarina of Time, who will run around with his shield up and attack with his sword.

Final Smash: Gamer
What else could it be? It will be a magnified version of her side B, with 5-Volt leaving the stage through a bedroom door that appears, before spotlights search the stage from all direction and landing on each opponent, before her monstrous form appears in the background and roars, sending everyone flying.

Entrance: Stepping through a bedroom door.

Taunts: Playing with her son's Game Boy, maybe sweeping the stage a bit, waving high to the audience in a sweet way, so on.

Thanks for reading! Next up, we'll cover the Kindergarten ninjas, Kat and Ana!

Character Sheet: 18-Volt (Wario Ware)

18-VOLT

Let's begin our character sheets for our Wario Ware characters. Although it felt a little touch and go there, with most gameplay not being tied to the characters themselves, each one did do enough across the nine games to warrant their inclusion, with the only one I really had to fudge a little being Mike. (At that point, with everyone else in, it just felt a little wrong to leave him out). Either way, here they are:

1. Wario
2. Biker Wario
3. Mona
4. Jimmy T.
5. Ashley & Red
6. 9-Volt
7. 18-Volt
8. 5-Volt
9. Kat and Ana
10. Young Cricket
10e. Master Mantis
11. Dribble & Spitz
12. Dr. Crygor
12e. Penny Crygor
13. Mike
14. Orbulon
15. Lulu

So, as mentioned before, rather than simply making 9-Volt, 18-Volt, and 5-Volt echoes and color swaps of each other, I figured there was plenty in their specific brand of Nintendo throwbacks to be spread around evenly between them. 18-Volt is 9-Volt's best friend, either a much older teenager who has been held back or a very large child. Either way, in many of the stories, his role is to simply play games right alongside 9-Volt, though in more recent games, the two have started to branch away, with his D.I.Y. appearance involving him flying around on a jetpack and shooting fronks from a large gun, and his Gold appearance seeing him beating a teenage bully named 13-Amp in a rap battle. He is rarely seen without his iconic boom box.

Here's his moveset:

Standard B: Boom Box
His most iconic item had to appear somehow. He will toss out his boom box that will then let off a sonic boom that will damage anyone in the vicinity with a shockwave.

Side B: Fronk Launcher
The Fronks that appear frequently in tandem with 9-Volt and 18-Volt's games will be represented here, with him pulling out his small Fronk launcher from his D.I.Y. appearance and shooting Fronks out as projectiles.

Up B: Jetpack
The jetpack used in his D.I.Y. appearance will take up this spot, with him strapping it on and taking off into the sky for a brief stretch.

Down B: Amiibo
This one is primarily tied to the throwback representations and is similar to 9-Volt's version. However, as all of 9-Volt's were 8-bit versions of the characters, his will be 16-bit versions, mirroring the theme of their names. His will include: Samus, who will hop around and shoot lasers; Pikmin, a horde of pikmin will run across the stage and latch onto enemies; Villager, a villager will come out and start collecting random items; Advance Wars, soldiers and tanks will storm across the stage (basically the old assist trophy); and Birdo from Super Mario Advance, who will pace back and forth shooting eggs.

Final Smash: Jet 18Volt
This one is similar to Diddy's final smash in the game, as it combines two of his previous moves. 18-Volt will strap on the jetpack and pull out his Fronk launcher and fly off screen, with a small crosshairs appearing so that he can shoot down the opponents from afar.

Entrance: He will strut on carrying his boom box on his shoulder.

Taunts: Sitting down and playing a video game, rocking out with his boom box, so on.

Thanks for reading! Next up, almost in time for American Mother's Day, Nintendo's best mom herself, 5-Volt!

Character Sheet: Ashley & Red (Wario Ware)

ASHLEY & RED

Let's begin our character sheets for our Wario Ware characters. Although it felt a little touch and go there, with most gameplay not being tied to the characters themselves, each one did do enough across the nine games to warrant their inclusion, with the only one I really had to fudge a little being Mike. (At that point, with everyone else in, it just felt a little wrong to leave him out). Either way, here they are:

1. Wario
2. Biker Wario
3. Mona
4. Jimmy T.
5. Ashley & Red
6. 9-Volt
7. 18-Volt
8. 5-Volt
9. Kat and Ana
10. Young Cricket
10e. Master Mantis
11. Dribble & Spitz
12. Dr. Crygor
12e. Penny Crygor
13. Mike
14. Orbulon
15. Lulu

Who's the girl next door living in the haunted mansion? You'd better learn her name, because it's Ashley! She knows the darkest spells and she brews the meanest potions. You might be the ingredient she seeks. Don't let yourself be fooled by her innocent demeanor. You'd better be afraid of the great Ashley! Ashley and her demonic companion Red first debuted in Wario Ware Touched, four games into the series, but quickly became a fan favorite, appearing in every game since (except Snapped), and making appearances as an assist trophy in Super Smash Bros.

Most of her stories in the games feature her trying and often failing to brew a potion, learn a spell, or summon a demon. In Touched, she brewed a potion only to mess it up and send Red to try and catch Orbulon to fix it. In Smooth Moves, she attempts to cast a spell on a potted plant, receives instruction from a cursed spellbook, and ends up changing it into a giant monster plant. In D.I.Y., she is filming a movie with Red, with a number of ghosts as the crew. In Game & Wario, she transports herself accidentally into a world of candy and cookies, and has to get out by flying on her broom and using Red as a wand to cast spells, in a bullet hell-shooter style game. Finally, in Gold, she transports herself into the demon world to stop a demon from eating all the food there. She can also maybe grow gigantic as shown when Orbulon bumps into her, and she brings a mandrake for the pot-luck picnic with the other characters. Her microgames tend to vary, though food is a very common motif for her.

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Red
This one is to control Red and determine what he does in the fight. If he is in wand form, using this move will send him out away from you to attack on his own, similar to the Lumas. If he is already separate from you, this move will call him back and turn him into a wand again, and your attack power will go up as a result.

Side B: Monster Plant
She will use her wand and spellbook to cast a spell directly ahead of her, which, once it touches the ground, will explode into a monster plant and wrap its vines around you and hold you fast. The size changes depending on Red's current state.

Up B: Broomstick
Ashley will hop on her broom and circle into the sky. Pretty basic really here. If Red is in wand form, he will shoot off spells directly below you as you do.

Down B: Potion
This one will be a staged move, similar to Villager's tree. First she will place her pot down on the ground. The second time, you can stir the pot. Finally the third time, Ashley will wave her wand and lightning from the sky will strike where the other players are currently standing.

Final Smash: Pantalones Gigantus
Ashley will grow to her ginormous, white-haired size and cast the spell in the song, generally causing the other players' clothing to expand to ridiculous proportions and send them flying.

Entrance: She and Red will fly out of a portal into her spellbook.

Taunts: Ashley's glower she does whenever she feels insecure, maybe her and Red playing, pulling out a mandrake, etc.

Thanks for reading about the coolest girl you'll ever meet! Next up, let's visit that Nintendo nerd, 9-Volt!

15. Lulu

Today, it's time to talk about Mona, a high school senior living in Diamond City and one of Wario's regular employees. She's a bit of a busy go-getter, switching between part time jobs from game to game and always on the move. She's also got a crush on Wario of all people, even though she tends to be the first one to call him out on his crap most of the time? Eeh, she likes what she likes, I guess. Who am I to judge.

Across the different names, she has worked at a gelateria, a pizza place (named after her somehow), a singer in a band, an explorer, and a photographer for a newspaper. She is also the head cheerleader at her high school. All of these can definitely play a part in her moveset, and arguably give her enough to work with already. Most of her early games tended to feature her on her moped, being chased down by the police, a rival pizza company, or a rival singer, while she has to be defended by her companions: an elephant, a pig, and a monkey; all of whom throw things off the back to trip the pursuers up. In Touched specifically, her bandmates Art and Deco also help her out. Her microgames often vary, though they often fall into the category of "strange" which seems to generally mean "slice of life" kinda stuff. Strangely, despite it only being her job once, her role as a pizza girl has kinda stuck to her identity, so I imagine it should be touched on.

Here's the moveset I came up with for her:

Standard B: Shutter
This one is based on her game in Game & Wario, where she works as a photographer. She will pull out her camera and snap a picture, her camera flashing and stunning the opponent for a brief second. It would be fun to work in the pictures she takes in some way, adding them to your collection, but I suppose it doesn't matter.

Side B: Moped
Obviously this had to be included, it is easily one of the most consistent features in all of her appearances. It's probably about as iconic as Wario's bike. I would wager it would function much the same as the bike, possibly even just for giving them that connection with each other.

Up B: Cheerleader Throw
This one is based on her appearance in Smooth Moves, where she acts as a cheerleader. Her squad will appear around her and toss her into the air, while she holds a baton over her head and spins it for minimal damage.

Down B: Animal Buddies
When she presses this button, one of her three animal companions will appear at random. The elephant will spew sludge across the stage, acting like the paint of other characters. The monkey will toss a banana peel. And the pig will kick out a soccer ball. Both of these items will function as normal.

Final Smash: Mona Pizza
While I was tempted to include the Pizza Dinosaur used by her rival company, I instead chose to base her final smash on her tutorial microgame at the start of her Twisted run of games. A giant pizza will rise behind the stage, spinning left and right as pepperonis fly from the foreground onto the pizza, smacking and doing damage to any players they hit as they fly. All the while, Mona Pizza's theme song will play.

Entrance: Mona's alarm will ring and she will say "Uh oh, gotta go!"

Taunts: Rocking with her bandmates, eating a slice of pizza OR eating some gelato, or just dancing maybe.

Thanks for reading! Next up, we'll cover that cool disco cat, Jimmy T.!

Character Sheet: Biker Wario (Wario Ware)

BIKER WARIO

Let's begin our character sheets for our Wario Ware characters. Although it felt a little touch and go there, with most gameplay not being tied to the characters themselves, each one did do enough across the nine games to warrant their inclusion, with the only one I really had to fudge a little being Mike. (At that point, with everyone else in, it just felt a little wrong to leave him out). Either way, here they are:

1. Wario
2. Biker Wario
3. Mona
4. Jimmy T.
5. Ashley & Red
6. 9-Volt
7. 18-Volt
8. 5-Volt
9. Kat and Ana
10. Young Cricket
10e. Master Mantis
11. Dribble & Spitz
12. Dr. Crygor
12e. Penny Crygor
13. Mike
14. Orbulon
15. Lulu

Today, we begin our new characters, with an alt character for Wario. Whereas the character we covered yesterday mostly represented Wario in his Wario Land and Mario series appearances, this version is all about Wario Ware and is decked out in his iconic biker outfit. Wario Man is also included here, as a powered-up form of the character, similar in some ways to the Joker's Arsene. This will be the most similar to Wario's current smash form, though to be honest, having watched these game's through, I'm still not certain where some of the moves came from, with his Up B, Down B, and regular B all seeming to be original creations based on the general concept of the character, rather than actual gameplay.

Out of all the characters in this series, Wario is the one who makes the most sense to base on the microgames themselves, so we can certain consider that as we play. His iconic motorcycle makes many an appearance, so that's a given. He is shown working out frequently, and often uses rockets or other items as getaway vehicles. He also takes on multiple forms for his big "final battles" of the games, if you will, with Tiny Warios and Wario Man being the most common, and Pirate Wario giving us a treat in Game & Wario. We can also consider things like the Form Baton into his moveset if need be. Many, many of his microgames do have to do with disgusting parts of his body in some way, like picking his nose and eating junk, so things like the waft and the bite aren't that odd per se. And then as Wario Man, he can also fly and has super strength, so we can factor that in as well. He also uses a bow and arrow, strangely, during his Game & Wario games. I'm going to avoid all the "toilet" stuff from Wario Ware Gold, as most of that can be applied to Lulu.

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Mini Warios
With the prevalence of the Mini Warios throughout the series, it seems fitting to include them here. The move will act similar to Olimar's Pikmin throw, with the Mini Warios latching onto and biting the opponent, doing minimal damage. As Wario Man, he will throw a group of them, rather than just one at a time.

Side B: Motorcycle
Of course this had to be here. I'd say it's a rather key part of Biker Wario's identity, and it will act exactly as it does in the Smash series. As Wario Man, he will forego the bike and simply zoom across the stage at high speed.

Up B: Getaway Rocket
This one is based on Wario's penchant for trying to make a getaway at the end of the games rather than having to actually pay his employees. He will use the rocket from the very first game, launching himself into the sky. As Wario Man, he will actually fly upwards on his own.

Down B: Wario Waft
Source material or not, it's inclusion in Smash has made it nearly inextricable from the character's image. And his games often include some gross-out body stuff, so it's not completely out of left field. It will be significantly stronger as Wario Man.

Final Smash: Wario Man
This will be the trigger to his transformation. He will bite down on the Nasty Garlic and transform, using that initial burst of strength to beat up the character closest to him. After the attack is over, he will remain in the form, similar to Toadette and Peachette.

Entrance: Riding in on his motorcycle

Taunts: Picking his nose is common, getting dollar signs in his eyes, trying to figure out a new game console, so on.

Thanks for reading! Next up, we'll cover the closest thing Wario has to a lady love, Mona!

Wario Ware: Gold

WARIO WARE: GOLD

And now, we come to the end of our run of Wario Ware games with Wario Ware: Gold, one of the last games release for the 3DS. The game's story revolves around Wario stealing a powerful treasure (toilet) from a distant village and holding a tournament with the treasure as the grand prize, only for a young girl named Lulu to strike out on a quest to get it back. Most of our crew returns, with full voice acting for all of them this time.

Wario's games are all the basic beginner stuff to get you used to the game, including holding a door, dodging a spotlight, stomping a Goomba, focusing a camera, pumping iron, pulling his mouth to catch stuff, slicing fruits, and stirring coffee. At the end of the game, he faces off with Lulu as the final boss, placing the treasure (toilet) on his head which somehow gives him superpowers (I don't want to know what that village had been eating). He then floats, throws lightning, and takes off in a balloon throne.

Jimmy's story involves a cat getting into his afro, prompting a bunch of girls to want to take pictures with him. His games are all sports-related, as is common, including fencing, shooting hoops, bouncing a ball, doing squats, lifting weights, jumping hurdles, passing a baton, jumping rope, and making a goal.

Mona's story sees her shopping for a dress to wear to a party that she later invites Gelato Joe to. Her game's are all called "That's Life" which honestly seems a better descriptor than "Strange." They include covering a cat with an umbrella, picking a nose, avoiding another pedestrian, pouring hot water, squirting ketchup, counting moles, finding a bathroom stall, catching a cookie, squirting eyedrops, and hammering a nail.

Dribble and Spitz's story sees them driving their taxi through outer space after dropping off a passenger getting attacked by flying saucers. They fend them off using their octobazooka. Their games are all "fantasy"-themed, including finding treasure, avoiding meteors, beating an octopus, hopping from clouds, steering a leaf, and sidestepping arrows.

9-Volt's mother 5-Volt gets her own set of games this time around. Her story features her watching an infomercial about a new frying pan and learning the workout needed to lift the thing, resulting in her gaining super strength. Her games are much like her son's, all being based around Nintendo games. These include Donkey Kong Country, Balloon Fight, Super Mario Kart, Mario Clash, Ocarina of Time, Ice Climber, Kid Icarus, Yoshi's Island, Super Mario Land, and Fire Emblem.

The game is divided into three groups, the Mash League, the Twist League, and the Touch League. While Mona, Jimmy, Dribble and Spitz, and 5-Volt were part of the Mash League, the next group lead the Twist League. Ashley's story features her summoning a starving demon, deducing it is the work of the demon Hum Gree, and entering her book to fight and defeat him. Her games are also "fantasy" like Dribble and Spitz, including sliding the moon, shaving the Earth, catching a butterfly, disarming an opponent, reflecting light, lighting a candle, running from a monster, and lowering a bridge.

Dr. Crygor's story sees him and Mike wandering through the woods in search of mushroom when they are attacked by a disgruntled maid robot named Doris 1. Crygor covers the sports games just like Jimmy, including arm wrestling, golfing, hula dancing, synchronized swimming, skiing, rock climbing, surfing, and shooting a watermelon.

In 18-Volt's story, he comes across a bully named 13-Amp and challenges her to a rap battle. His games are also Nintendo-related, including Super Mario World, Wind Waker, Donkey Kong Jr., Metroid, Golf, Super Mario Sunshine, Pikmin, Stack-Up, Dr. Mario, Super Metroid, Animal Crossing, and Super Mario Bros.

Penny's story sees her creating a "tonally transformative elixir" to give herself the voice of a pop star and trying it on her grandfather, resulting in him getting a stomachache. She covers the "That's Life" games, including shaving a beard, playing violin, trimming pigtails, balancing a ruler, extracting a tooth, sweeping leaves, sharpening a pencil, sewing, squeezing toothpaste, and tuning the radio.

Kat and Ana start off the Touch League with the "That's Life" category. Their story sees them going to take the test to get their Ninja learner's permits, but getting confused and entering an eating challenge instead. Their games include dragging a paper clip, unrolling toilet paper, tracing a kanji, poking birds, playing piano, threading a needle, ironing clothes, and grating a carrot.

9-Volt covers the Nintendo category of course, his story featuring him and his pet Fronk realizing he can do math if he thinks of it like an RPG. His games include Mii Maker, Donkey Kong, Nintendogs, Excitebike, just Cheep Cheeps, Wrecking Crew, Link Between Worlds, Amiibo, and finding the stylus.

Young Cricket covers the Sports category, with Cricket and Master Mantis visiting an amusement park to "train" themselves on the rides. His games include passing a ball, skiing, curling, doing situps, taking off clothes, riding a horse, doing a chin-up, swimming, and bowling.

Orbulon covers the fantasy games, and his story features him becoming obsessed with a fast food chain's hamburgers and ordering them until they run out. Wanting to help, he goes an abducts a bunch of pigs from a farm so that they will have enough "ham" to make the burgers, only to discover his mistake and keep the pigs as friends. (Have I mentioned, I really like the characters in this series. They're great.) Anyway, his game include throwing shurikens, spotting a ghost, tickling a pig, watering a flower, inflating a camel, and finding a thief.

At the end of the game, you have two Ultra League sets, with Mona, Penny, and Kat and Ana of the "That's Life" sets, and Jimmy, Dr. Crygor, and Young Cricket of the Sports sets, all dancing in a nightclub as you play through a mix of their games; and 9-Volt, 18-Volt, and 5-Volt of the Nintendo sets and Ashley, Dribble and Spitz, and Orbulon of the Fantasy sets having pot-luck picnic with each other. Mike and Fronk act sort of like the hosts of these games.

Finally, I must talk about Lulu. Obviously everything Wario can do with the toilet on his head could probably be attributed to Lulu as she comes from the village the treasure is from so could probably use it if she wants to. She is also shown using a squirt-gun, the Hydrocannon LX, and arrows against Wario, twisting to remove his crown, and floating on a balloon. She also makes friends with a dog, Ruffington, and takes a nap on him, and forces Young Cricket into a piggyback ride, but I don't know how much those things translate to Smash gaming.

The stages present in the game include Luxeville, where the toilet was stolen from, Diamond City Stadium, the farthest edge of space, Ashley's mansion, the agate forest, Penny's lab, the Diamond City Castle, Diamond City Elementary, Club Joe, and Diamond City Amusement Park.
