ASTOR
Today, we begin the third (and probably last) big character haul of the Zelda series, assuming the Tingle and CDi games, the remakes, the animated series, and the comics don't add in anything too drastic. Our list covers twenty-eight familiar faces, and they are:
1. Linkle
2. The Youth
3. Wild Zelda
4. Wild Impa
5. Twili Midna
6. Lana
7. Darmani
8. Yunobo
9. Mikau
10. Sidon
11. Teba
12. Riju
13. Hestu
14. Epona
15. Tingle
16. Agitha
17. Purah & Robbie
18. Yves
19. Terrako
20. King Rhoam
21. Wild Fairies
22. Monk Maz Koshia
23. Cia
24. Astor
25. Volga
26. Wizzro
27. Manhandla
28. Sooga
Today, we cover Astor, the villain of Age of Calamity, a seer who prophesied the coming of Calamity Ganon, playing Hyrule and the Yiga Clan against each other in a scheme to actually bring the Calamity himself. I assume that in the prime timeline, he got away with his crimes scot-free, but in Calamity, after Terrako and the champion's descendants' intervention prevents Ganon from seizing control of the Divine Beasts, Ganon instead takes possession of Astor's body to complete his resurrection.
For whatever reason, Astor was not made playable in the game, though the code features a full moveset for him. This moveset includes the ability to summon malice, a shield of constellations he uses to protect himself, dark balls of energy he spreads across the stage, the ability to teleport, waves of shadow he can cast outward, and explosions he can set off. I think that does plenty for our purposes. Let's go!
Here's the moveset I came up with:
Standard B: Dark Orbs
He will send out a swarm of dark orbs to float forward across the stage and detonate after a short period of time.
Side B: Malice
He will cast his hand downward, and cause a bunch of malice to grow up across a stretch of the stage. It will have all the normal effects.
Up B: Teleportation
He will blink out of existence and reappear high above, teleporting out of the way of trouble.
Down B: Constellation Shield
He will create a shield of constellations around himself that will protect him from most projectiles.
Final Smash: Great Sacrifice
He will do as he did to the Yiga Clan and summon the calamity, sucking in the opposing players and sacrificing them to Ganon.
Entrance: He will be reading a book of prophecy, snap it closed, and turn to face his opponent.
Taunts: Up, he will raise his hands and laugh maniacally, as if waiting for Ganon to grant him power. Side, he will hold up his malice eye and peer into it. Down, he will flip aimlessly through his book as if bored.
Thanks for reading! Next up, a dragon warrior original to Hyrule Warriors.
