Character Sheet: TV Mario

TV MARIO

Now, we have finished the television series, and we have SO many characters to cover, from all across the spectrum. There are a few characters here and there that might get a few upgrades to their movesets, mostly being the Donkey Kong cast (one example, I think Klump should absolutely have a Klaptrap gun now). But, there are so many that are so distinct from their game counterparts, I could only make a brand new slot for them. They are:

Today, let's cover Mario as he appears in the Super Mario Bros. Super Show! and subsequent seasons, as played by professional wrestler Captain Lou Albano, both voiced and in live action, and later replaced by Walker Boone. I suppose I should also mention his appearance in Saturday Supercade, voiced by Peter Cullen. If we're worried about casting, Lou is sadly no longer around, Walker doesn't seem to have acted since 2012, leaving just Peter, who is still acting last I checked. That said, I doubt it matters that much.

Now, as for Mario's appearance in the series, he has a much greater focus on plumbing, much like his movie counterpart, but in different ways. He also has a massive fixation with pizza and pasta, to a sometimes detrimental extent. We see him use plungers, wrenches, and plumber's snakes, pizza cutters, pizza, and spaghetti in various ways. We also see him use a fire flower to throw fireballs, grow gigantic, and become invincible depending on the needs of the episode. In later seasons, we also see him use the raccoon and frog suits, the cape, and the inflation power-up, and springs from Super Mario World. If we're counting Supercade version, he also uses traps such as nets and levers.

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Fire Flower

Mario will grab a white fire flower as it appears in the show, start to glow, and probably just stick with the fireball power, though likely much more powerful than the video game version.

Side B: Plumber's Snake

Mario will pull out his plumber's snake, a major piece of plumber's equipment not seen in the film version, which will lash out and snag an opponent, acting similarly to Isabelle's fishing rod.

Up B: Plunger Climb

Mario does jump a lot, as he is wont to do, but I'm sure we'll see plenty of that in the regular moves. Across the series, we see Mario climb with his plungers a lot, and I think a move might work with him jumping with a plunger, sticking it in place, and then jumping off of it.

Down B: Pizza Toss

Mario will toss a full pizza pie forward, low to the ground, as seen in a few episodes. The pizza will keep moving and keep spinning for a short time, tripping up anyone who runs across it.

Final Smash: Robo Mario

Mario will take up the Robo Mario suit from the Robo Koopa episode, fly around and fire off a number of his attacks.

Entrance: Mario will tumble out of a pipe just like in the original series opening.

Taunts: Up, he will lick his lips and rub his belly as if he's just finished a bowl of spaghetti. Side, he will tighten a pipe with a wrench. Down, he will fall down as if he's been hit on the head (a frequent sight in the live action segments). Also, his "Plumber's Logs" could have potential as a secret taunt.

Thanks for reading! Next up, let's cover his brother, as portrayed primarily by Danny Wells.
