Character Sheet: King Koopa

KING KOOPA

Now, we have finished the television series, and we have SO many characters to cover, from all across the spectrum. There are a few characters here and there that might get a few upgrades to their movesets, mostly being the Donkey Kong cast (one example, I think Klump should absolutely have a Klaptrap gun now). But, there are so many that are so distinct from their game counterparts, I could only make a brand new slot for them. They are:

1.     Beezo

Today, we cover King Koopa as he appears in all three seasons of the Super Mario Bros. Super Show!, with his green skin and bulky body setting him distinctly apart from the Bowser of the games and voiced by Harvey Atkin. Now, sadly, Harvey has passed away in the years since then, so any kind of reprisal is impossible. Which is probably the most disappointing of them all. He was the best performance of the series, at least in my personal opinion.

Now, King Koopa's abilities tend to vary based on what type of story is being parodied and the abilities of the stereotypical villain he is stepping into the shoe of. Though he does have a few abilities distinctly tied to him as a character. These include using Cobrats and Piranha Plants as guns, escaping using a door potion, turning people into stone with a magic wand, trapping characters in cages, growing gigantic, flying in his Klown Kar, and his pet Ratso from King Koopa's Kool Kartoons. More parody-based abilities include driving a snowmobile, flying a magic carpet, turning into a vampire, flying a plane, freezing people, using his hat as a shield, and spraying pesticide

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Cobrat Gun

He will hold out a Cobrat in his hand and fire a series of fireballs at his opponents, doing burn damage in the process.

Side B: Stone Spell

He will cast a spell that will transform anyone hit by it into a rock for a short span of time.

Up B: Door Potion

His famous escape route, seen in several episodes accompanied by the quote "He who Koops and runs away, lives to Koop another day." We'll save the quote for a taunt or something, but the potion works well as a teleportation move, with him running through the door and appearing somewhere else.

Down B: Cage

He will drop a cage from above, trapping a character inside for a short while.

Final Smash: Giant Koopa

There are a few possibilities, but at the end of the day, this is still King Koopa we're talking about, and I feel this is the one aspect we must stay true to. It will act much like game Bowser's version, though it will probably come with a more quippy show-style quote.

Entrance: He will emerge from a potion door.

Taunts: Up, he will perform his famous evil laugh from the series. Side would be good for a Ratso cameo. Down, probably the "Koops and runs away" line.

Thanks for reading! Next up, the one version of King Koopa I felt deserved its own moveset!
