Character Sheet: Hercufleas

HERCUFLEAS

Now, we have finished the television series, and we have SO many characters to cover, from all across the spectrum. There are a few characters here and there that might get a few upgrades to their movesets, mostly being the Donkey Kong cast (one example, I think Klump should absolutely have a Klaptrap gun now). But, there are so many that are so distinct from their game counterparts, I could only make a brand new slot for them. They are:

Today, let's cover the mighty Hercufleas from the episode "The Fire of Hercufleas." A parody of Hercules obviously, he is an old friend of Toad and former mighty hero, who has since let himself go and taken up a job as the security guard for the legendary "great balls of fire." When the fire is stolen by King Koopa, Toad and the other heroes help him get back into shape in order to fight Koopa and take back the fire. Across the episode, we see the hero launch fireballs from the "great balls of fire," including one big massive one, swing around a giant pillar, throw a plate of marshmallows to block the top of the urn his fire is kept in, and perform a number of standard exercises, including jogging, chin ups, and jumping jacks, sometimes with humorous consequences.

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Fireballs

Using the urn containing the Great Balls of Fire, he will draw three small flames from it and launch them forward as projectiles, as seen in the episode.

Side B: Pillar

This one will certainly have some range. He will use his mighty strength to pull a pillar from the ground and swing it around like a club, smashing it into opponents.

Up B: Jumping Jacks

Coming from his workout regiment, he will perform a jumping jack, small at first, but enough to shake the ground with his weight and send him higher on his next jump.

Down B: Marshmallow Trap

Hercufleas will grab a plate of marshmallows and throw it out on the ground. Despite the probably lack of fire, the marshmallows will quickly get sticky, forming a trap for anyone who stumbles into it.

Final Smash: Great Balls of Fire

This time, he will use the full power of his ward, summoning all the fire from the urn into one big massive fireball and launching it at the stage.

Entrance: He will work himself up from his easy chair surrounded by donuts.

Taunts: Up, he will perform a chin-up and get winded for a second. Side, he will perform a pose like in his old statues. Down, he will eat a donut from a box he pulls out.

50.  Kong Fu

51.  Metal Head

52.  Captain Skurvy

Next up is Bunsen, the robotic assistant of Dr. Nerdnik from the episode "Robo Koopa," the same episode that Robo Koopa appears in. Koopa takes her creator captive and forces him to build his robot suit, leading to her joining forces with Mario and his friends to take him down, eventually supplying them with the Plumbinator suit. In the episode, she is shown with extendable arms that she can use to hack into computer systems and perform all sorts of engineering work, she can also produce drills from her chest. I'd say it's also fair to include everything the Plumbinator does, including a plunger sword, a flyswatter, and the ability to shoot eggs.

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Drill

Her chest will open up to reveal a spinning automated drill that will damage anyone who got too close to her.

Side B: Extend-o-Arm

She will send her arm extending forward, her fingers extending as well. Anything it connects with, her fingers will mess with, causing them to start glitching out as if she just messed with their programming. (Should provide some fodder for MatPat and other theorists, I imagine)

Up B: Rockets

Naturally, I think it only makes sense for her to use the rockets used by the Plumbinator and Robo Koopa to take off into the air.

Down B: Flyswatter

In what I hope was a reference to Mario Paint (though I'm pretty sure the episode predates it by a few years), she will produce a flyswatter from her chest just like the Plumbinator does and smack a character out of the air with it.

Final Smash: Plumbinator

Mario and Luigi already have it going on, but really, what else would be more fitting for her to use than the partial product of her own hands.

Entrance: She will pop up from the manhole she appears from in the episode.

Taunts: Up, she will hold up a device and fiddle with it, her fingers extending. Side, Dr. Nerdnik will appear and adjust some of her joints. Down, she will crouch down low, compressing herself slightly.

Thanks for reading! Next up is the mighty Hercufleas!

49.  Baby Kong

50.  Kong Fu

51.  Metal Head

52.  Captain Skurvy

Today, let's cover Captain Clump and his parrot Patches from the episode "Pirates of Koopa," a parody on a mix of pirate stories like Treasure Island and Pirates of Penzance. Clump is a pirate captain who hires Mario, Luigi, Peach, and Toad to help man his ship so that he can cross dangerous, Koopa pirate-infested waters. Across the episode, the captain uses a number of pirate-themed moves. For one, he has a gigantic peg leg so big his other foot doesn't reach the ground. He also has a faithful parrot on his shoulder at all times. When fighting Koopa pirates, he tosses barrels, uses a club, and launches projectiles using his ship's own rigging. Just enough I think.

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Peg Leg Stomp

Obviously, we must make good use of his single most unique feature. Performing this move will cause the captain to flip up a little into the air and slam back down with his giant peg, burying anyone caught under it.

Side B: Club

He will swing around the club he uses as a weapon at one point, smacking an opponent in the head with it and launching them.

Up B: Patches

His parrot will grab him by the shoulders and carry him upwards. He won't go too far, as he is obviously much bigger than said parrot.

Down B: Barrel Rigging

He will pull back on a line of rigging, on which he has placed a large barrel, and let it go, sending the barrel flying at high speed.

Final Smash: Pirate Ship

A standard easy one for all pirate characters, his ship will appear and open fire upon the stage.

Entrance: He will hop onto the stage on his peg leg.

Taunts: Up, he will raise a sword and say some "Yarr, swabbies" kind of stuff. Side, he will feed Patches a cracker. Down, he will get his peg stuck in a knothole for a second.

47.  Bluster Kong

48.  Eddie the Mean Old Yeti

49.  Baby Kong

50.  Kong Fu

51.  Metal Head

52.  Captain Skurvy

Next up is Brutius Maximus Grouchimus, from the episode "The Great Gladiator Gig," a Gladiator parody. Brutius is a Roman (ahem, Linguinian) soldier in league with King Koopa, or rather Emperor Augustus Septemberus Octoberus Koopa, who lures the heroes to his coliseum under the pretense of a charity dinner only to trap them and force the Mario brothers to compete in gladiator games. While he doesn't actively do everything here, he is a solid pick to represent all of the episode's gimmick, as it is his coliseum. These include the Koopas he throws as projectiles, the lions he lets loose to attack the brothers, the nets and tridents used by Tryclyde and the Beezos in the gladiator arena, and the chariots Mario and Luigi use to try and escape. Some overlap with other movesets, obviously, but his is more directly focused here.

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Koopa Shells

He will grab a pair of Koopas (stylized the way they look in the shell) and chuck them with his sheer strength as a pair of projectiles.

Side B: Lions

He will open up a gate and a lion will leap out, attacking the character directly in front of them. The lion will only remain for a short time, clinging onto its target and dealing damage the entire time.

Up B: Pole Vault

Based on a move used by Mario against Brutius and Koopa, Brutius will use one of the tridents he supplied as a pole vault, sticking it into the ground and launching himself into the air.

Down B: Net and Trident

More or less acting in just the same way that Tryclyde uses it, he will first throw the net over his opponent and then stab with the trident while they are tangled.

Final Smash: Colosseum Collapse

Based on the ultimate takedown of these characters, Brutius will punch a character and send them flying. The character will smash into a pillar so hard it begins to crumble. We then see the entire coliseum start to collapse around the stage, coming down on the other characters there.

Entrance: He will rise on a platform the Colosseum would have used.

Taunts: Up, he will wave to the crowd to amp up their enjoyment. Side, he will stir some of the spaghetti dinner he had promised and ended up being forced to make at the end of the episode. Down, he will do the famous "thumbs down" thing.

Next up, we have the genie from the episode "Mario's Magic Carpet," not to be confused with a certain similarly named blue character or any other variation on such. The episode is a parody on the Aladdin story, and thus she is based on said genie of the lamp, though this time portrayed as an obnoxious nagging woman similar to a Cloris Leachman-type character or something like that. In the episode, we see her use all kinds of magic, including a stink spell, a flying spell that launches the targets straight up in the air, and reside inside a lamp. Other more episode based-items may include the magic carpets ridden by our heroes and villains, and a trampoline that acts as a trap set by a greedy sultan.

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Magic Smell

First up, her accidental spell that ended up creating a stink cloud. I imagine this might act a bit like Piranha Plant's poison cloud and would inflict a poison effect.

Side B: Flying Spell

This one is the spell she accidentally casts on Mario and Luigi. She will cast it forward at an enemy. Anyone hit by it will be immediately sent straight up into the air. Their location on the stage and their damage meter will affect who disastrous that could be.

Up B: Magic Carpet

Based on the car-like magic carpets of the show, she will hop into one and drive it up into the air for a bit before coming back down.

Down B: Lamp

She will tuck down inside of her lamp as a defensive move. It will also likely drop, so it could be used offensively too.

Final Smash: Pasbah's Trap

Based on the sequence at the beginning, when Mario and his friends are caught by the greedy Sultan Pasbah to be sold into slavery, the genie will strike an opponent, sending them into a cutscene of them being launched by the trampoline onto a room, which will then flip and send them into the sultan's palace (off the stage).

Entrance: She will emerge from her lamp.

Taunts: Up, she will spread her hands and cause sparkles over her head. Side, I imagine her nagging has to be in here somewhere. Down, she will kick her foot, which has the lamp still stuck to it.
