A few years into Himekawa’s run as go-to mangaka, he would decide to go back and write an adaptation of A Link to the Past, because why not? Rather than Raska and Captain Arjuna, like his contemporary, Himekawa would instead give Link a companion in the form of a feisty female bandit he comes across on the road.

This is Ghanti, a descendant of Hylian knights whose parents were killed as a child and she was raised by the bandit who killed them, filling her head with stories that the knights were the ones responsible. This initially proves a source of contention between her and Link at first, but she soon proves a brave and loyal companion.

As a fighter, she will use many underhanded methods to deal damage, tricks she picked up as a bandit, making use of her bandit’s dagger and sword, her wolf form she takes on when entering the Dark World, and the silver arrows she inherited from her parents.
