First seen in Wind Waker, but official receiving his moniker in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Toon Link is the hero of winds, descended from the Link of Ocarina of Time by a few thousands years. This character will pull exclusively from Wind Waker (at least this round), and from Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks later, with a more expressive face, a more cartoony style to his attacks, and a heavy seafaring influence.

In Wind Waker, our hero wields a sword and a shield, with multiple different attack strings available to him, bombs, a grappling hook, a bag for his spoils, a Deku Leaf, a boomerang, a skull hammer, power bracelets that let him lift heavy objects (with the most adorable expression on his face by the way), iron boots, a mirror shield, and arrows with fire and ice powers. He also carries the Wind Waker, a powerful baton he can use to conduct the winds to his will, including the summoning of a tornado. He also hides in barrels a lot. Just wanted to mention that. No sand rod or train yet, both items I want to include later, but we won't worry about that for now.

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Boomerang

Honestly, with the uncertainty of boomerangs, bows, and sword beams in the previous Link movesets, this might be a good compromise, especially with this version's strong connection to winds.

Side B: Bombs

Honestly, when we come to it, Sand Rod or Train would fit in perfectly here, but for now I do want to at least include his bombs with their distinctive look and their unique explosion animations.

Up B: Sword Spin

Kept from the standard Link, but this version's had a propensity for being unwieldy, fitting his cartoonish nature very well. So, he will go farther but be a lot less easy to control with it.

Down B: Barrel

Bomb works too, and we might make that switch when Train or Sand Rod are more available, but for now, I like the idea of him just putting a barrel over himself as a shield, that he can then move around inside for a short time.

Final Smash: Hero of Winds

The train from Spirit Tracks also obviously works here, but at least for now, we will have him whip up a tornado with the Wind Waker and send everyone flying with it.

Entrance: I'd like to see him catapulted in, but since the arrival is what matters here, that wouldn't be that cinematic. Still, he could faceplant the stage as if catapulted.

Taunts: Up, one of Aryll's seagulls will flutter around his head. Side, he will pull out his telescope and look around. Down, he will lay down and take a nap.

Thanks for reading! Next up, our newest rendition of the character, Breath of the Wild's Link.
