29. Jonathan Jones
30. Valentina
31. Jr. Troopa
32. Doopliss
33. Rawk Hawk
34. Francis
35. Culex

Here's to another personal favorite. Man, we're having a whole string of them. (It's no surprise really, it's Paper Mario . . . was . . . known for). O'Chunks is one of the minions of Count Bleck, a beefy meathead of a Scottish enforcer with a preference to brawn over brain. He's not particularly deep, just entertaining, but he does prove his mettle at the end when he proves that it was never about world domination so much as loyalty to the count.

You fight O'Chunks a good couple of times across the game, each one building on each other, but most of his moves are pretty basic muscle fighter-type moves, such as flipping up and performing a butt bash, charging at you with a shoulder rush, grabbing you and spinning around to hurl you around the stage, spinning like a tornado, and throwing chunks of the ground at you. He can also "Chunk Up" to boost his stats, and outside of battle he tends to . . . um, fart himself out of the scene. I'd say there's plenty there to make something out of.

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Chunk Throw
O'Chunks will literally rip a piece out of the stage you are standing on and throw it at his enemies as a projectile. Pretty standard there.

Side B: Chunk Tornado
O'Chunks will spin forward surrounded by a tornado, very similar to Meta Knight's move of a similar nature, causing damage to those around him.

Up B: Chunk Fumes OR Ground Pound
I could see either of these working. The first would be his fart-to-exit thing, which wouldn't really work as an entrance, so I don't think we'd see it too many other places. The other would be his ground pound move where he would flip into the air and slam back down.

Down B: Ground Pound OR Chunk Up
The move listed about would also function as a Down B, much as the similar move functions for Yoshi and Bowser. However, you might also consider his Chunk Up ability to boost his stats. Either one works well for me.

Final Smash: Chunk Spin
While his grab, spin, and throw thing would probably appear as part of his grabs, I think it would be a little difficult to pull off the full effect of him sending you ricocheting around the stage for just a grab. For a Final Smash, however, it would be perfectly reasonable to have him grab you and throw you, only for you to bounce several times off of every side of the screen, racking up damage with each hit.

Entrance: I don't know about a reverse fart exit, so how about just the way he jumps down onto the screen any time he challenges you.

Taunts: Scratching his head in confusion, various flexes he could pull off, maybe gassing just a little bit.

Thanks for reading! Next up, we'll cover his comrade-in-arms, Mimi!

Today, we will be covering the major supporting villains of Thousand-Year Door as well as the last of our Paper Mario companions to be covered here. The Shadow Sirens start out as secondary villains in Thousand-Year Door, allied with Sir Grodus and the X-Nauts in order to awaken their queen who had been locked away for, well, a thousand years. The Sirens are a trio of sisters comprised of Beldam, Marilyn, and Vivian. Vivian, the youngest, suffers cruel and sometimes all too realistic abuse at the hands of her sisters and eventually switches sides, betraying her sisters and becoming one of Mario's companions after he treats her with kindness. This character will feature moves from all three as well as their queen, and will feature each as a color swap, Vivian acting as the first.

Starting off with Vivian, in battle she can use Shade Fist, which is mostly just a basic punch; Veil, in which she pulls herself and Mario down into her shadow as protection; Fiery Jinx, in which she snaps her fingers and causes a ghostly flame to burn her enemies; and finally Infatuate, which causes an opponent to fall in love with her and potentially not attack. Her sisters have elemental attacks to go alongside her fiery jinx, with Marilyn throwing electricity at an enemy, and Beldam breathing an icy wind. They can also boost each other's stats. The Shadow Queen is another entity altogether, with her shadowy hands that drag souls into herself and her shadowy tendrils going everywhere. Let's see what we can do.

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Fiery Jinx
This is more or less Vivian's signature move. She will snap her fingers and a ghostly fire will light in the air a short distance in front of her. If it doesn't connect, it will fizzle out, but if it does connect, the fire will stick and do continuous damage to the enemy.

Side B: Icy Wind
This one is Beldam's signature move. She will blow an icy wind similar to the Ice Climbers, which will freeze an opponent solid.

Up B: Shadow Flight
I struggled with this one, as they don't do too much aerial maneuvering, even to the point of being connected to the ground at all times when Vivian is following you around, but I think this could work. It's more built slightly on the concept of the characters. Tendrils, like those of the Shadow Queen will wrap around them and carry them upward, flying through the air like a bat, similar to how Peach is carried upward when she is possessed by the Queen.

Down B: Veil
Basically, Vivian or her sisters will lower themselves down into their own shadows, rendering them immobile but also invulnerable. Her downward grab will also do this but bring the captive opponent with them.

Final Smash: The Shadow Queen
The Queen will rise and attack the stage, sending her tendrils everywhere and making shadowy hands rise up and pull the players down and to their deaths.

Entrance: They will rise out of their shadows.

Taunts: Vivian's Infatuate would work well. Also maybe the other two sisters would appear and they would seem to chat for a second or two. Vivian might hide behind her hands and look around for a second.

Thanks for reading! Next up, let's covering the chunkiest of the chunkers, O'Chunk o' course.

Character Sheet: Lord Crump

Today, let's cover Lord Crump, and by extension, the X-Nauts as a whole, because separately, they didn't have quite enough, but together, they have plenty. Lord Crump is the right-hand man of Sir Grodus who leads his forces when the pull off missions down on the planet. He acts as the main villain across several chapters including the prologue, chapter two, chapter five, and chapter seven before you send him spinning off into space. He is differentiated from Sir Grodus in that he often fights alongside his X-Naut minions and uses them frequently as part of his own moveset.

First, let's cover what the X-Nauts bring to the table. They are the most basic enemies in Thousand-Year Door, and as such don't actually do much. In battle, their movesets amount pretty much to a tackling move, drinking potions to give themselves a boost, or throwing potions at you as projectiles. And then there's Crump himself. He will butt bash you on his own or he will call in a horde of X-Nauts, that will either stack up to form a tower for him to stand on, or will pile up into a ball for him to roll across the stage. He also has a giant robot called Magnus von Grapple (and a 2.0 version) which pulls off various moves like stomping on you, sending off its first to fly at you, and suck up the audience to shoot them at you. He does command a battleship in chapter five as well.

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: X-Naut
I figure he could function in a similar fashion to Olimar or Rosalina, summoning smaller allies who fight alongside him. This base move would call in an X-Naut to fight alongside him. He can call in up to three.

Side B: Potion Throw
An X-Naut on his side would pull out a small potion bottle and throw it at an opponent, hitting them and damaging them with certain effects based on the color of the potion.

Up B: X-Naut Stack
The X-Nauts he has out at the time will pile underneath him and hoist him up, throwing him into the air. Depending on how many X-Nauts he has, he will fly varying distances.

Down B: Potion OR X-Naut Ball
I couldn't decide between the two as I tend to like them both. For potion, one of the X-Nauts will pull out a potion and either drink it himself or give it to Crump, boosting their stats. For X-Naut ball, the X-Nauts currently on the stage will gather up into a ball and Crump will push it across the stage. How many X-Nauts are in it will determine how much damage is done.

Final Smash: Magnus von Grapple
Lord Crump will fly down in the Magnus von Grapple robot and it will tromp around the stage, attacking the various fighters.

Entrance: Probably just step out of the elevator on their moon base.

Taunts: "Buh-huh-huh-huh," of course, his signature laugh. Maybe messing with the horn that gets bent in chapter five. Trying to control some of his minions as they run around.

Thanks for reading! Today was a bit of a personal favorite. I actually kind of love this guy and don't think he gets talked about enough. That said, a lot of these characters are some of my favorites, so I don't know if that really means much. Speaking of favorites, next up is Vivian and her sisters, the Shadow Sirens.

Today, let's cover a group of distinct and memorable members of the Smithy gang, a parody of the leather-clad teenage superheroes with questionable attitude themselves: The Axem Rangers. The Axem Rangers appear following your foray into Nimbus Land, accosting you as you try to lay claim to one of the eponymous seven stars. They fly in on board their airship, the Blade, and attack as one.

All five members are equipped with axes, hence the name and use them to fight. They also seem to be able to teleport similar to the characters they are based on. Individually, Axem Red can fire a glowing shot at you and vigor himself up. Axem Black can throw bombs at you. Axem Green is the spellmaster, using things like Meteor Blast and Static E! to fight you. Axem Yellow is the biggest of the group and will either jump high and body slam you or shoot a bubble at you. Finally, Axem Pink is the healer who can also shoot you with a petal blast. Toward the end of the battle, they use the giant head on the back of the Blade to fire a breaker beam at you. I think we've got plenty.

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Bomb
This one is based on Axem Black, and the ranger on screen will throw a small black explosive at their opponent, exploding quickly similar to Snake's grenade.

Side B: Static E!
This one is based on Axem Green, and is also used to generally represent a spell seen frequently throughout the game. He will cast a spell forward, at which point the opponent will be blasted with static electricity.

Up B: Body Slam
I considered the teleporting they do, but I also wanted representation for at least all of the five, with red being the default first color swap. So the ranger on screen will leap high into the air and slam back down hard, similar to King Dedede's Up B.

Down B: Heal
This one is based on Axem Pink, and the ranger on screen will quickly heal themselves of a little bit of damage with a small burst of petals for good measure.

Final Smash: Breaker Beam
The Blade's head will appear and the Axem Rangers will appear behind it as it opens its mouth and fires a powerful beam across the stage.

Entrance: Definitely teleporting in like the Power Rangers they aren't.

Taunts: The various bits of banter between them, from their opening introductions to Red's insults of each one of them after they receive too much damage.

Thanks for reading! Next up, we'll cover Lord Crump and by extension, the X-Naut race as a whole.

Character Sheet: Yaridovich

 YARIDOVICH

Today, we will move on from the main villains to the primary henchmen, you know, the ones directly working for the main villain of their respective game, as opposed to random bosses like Croco or Jr. Troopa with no connection to the main villain. We'll start off with Yaridovich, one of the main bosses of the Smithy gang working for Smithy. Or rather, technically speaking, we will be covering Yaridovich, Bowyer, Mack, and possibly Punchinello (he seems like one of the gang, but for some reason isn't counted as such). I went with Yaridovich here as, while his fellows seem to mostly have one move and one move only, Yaridovich is much more versatile with a much wider variety of moves. So, I figured, if anyone would represent the Smithy gang as a whole, it would be him, with the others either appearing at points throughout his moveset or being color swaps. If it pleases you to refer to this character slot as "Smithy Gang" rather than simply "Yaridovich," that is perfectly fine.

Mack's battle features him bouncing around on a giant, um, pogo stick/sword thing . . . that he uses to bounce out of harms way sometimes. Instead of attacking with it though, he uses a flame wall. Bowyer shoots arrows at you, disabling certain moves, and fights you with electrical moves like lightning. Punchinello mostly summons in Bob-Ombs to fight you and uses sandstorms to attack you personally. Finally, we have Yaridovich, who will primarily stab you with his spear and use water moves on you like Water Blast. He can also split himself into duplicates, and can apparently turn himself into a Toad based on events in the game. (Seriously though, how is Punchinello not a part of the gang? He is based on a weapon and uses elemental moves just like the others? If I had to guess, it was just a developer oversight somewhere along the line). So anyway, I'd say we have enough. I'd put the elemental moves in the other move categories and leave the weapon-based moves for our Specials. Let's go!

Here's what I came up with:

Standard B: Pierce
This one is based on Yaridovich's weapon of choice. He will pull out his spear and stab straight forward, doing pretty hefty damage on the target.

Side B: Arrows
This one is based on Bowyer's weapon of choice. He will fire an arrow, which can be directed in the charge-up phase and it will strike an opponent. It might disable one of the player's buttons or it might just paralyze them for a short time.

Up B: Bounce
This one is based on Mack's weapon of choice. The current gang member you are playing as will pull out Mack's sword-pogo stick and use it to bounce high into the air and away from danger. As the end is a sword, coming down will do some damage.

Down B: Bombs
This one is based on Punchinello's weapon of choice. He will drop a large bomb, not a Bob-Omb as those are otherwise predisposed, but a regular bomb which will explode after a short time, doing significant damage.

Final Smash: Smithy Gang Bash OR Exor
Now here's the trouble. Smithy has Exor, and the Axem Ranger will have the Blade to work with, so that doesn't leave too much big stuff. It's possible they could use Exor as well, nothing states they can't, but if we want them to be more unique, a possibility might be to have all four attack together.

Entrance: They will be spat out by the Smelter onto a conveyor belt, and a hammer will pound them into the correct shape.

Taunts: Their little personal touches, like bouncing on Mack's sword for a second, or saying "Nyeh" based on Bowyer's tick, and so on.

Thanks for reading! Next up, we'll cover another group of individuals from the Smithy Gang, the Axem Rangers!

Today, let's cover Dimentio, the true villain of Super Paper Mario. Dimentio starts out the game as an interdimensional clown working for Count Bleck with a penchant for screwing with people. He soon reveals his ulterior motives to steal the Chaos Heart for himself and use it to destroy all worlds and recreate them in his own image with himself as their ruler. Dimentio, much like Fawful, has gone down as one of the best villains from the RPGs, and rightfully so. He's really frickin' great.

You fight him a few times throughout the games, and each time he demonstrates a few distinct abilities. First off, most of his battles feature a projectile attack using these weird spiky spell things. He also teleports frequently and can create multiples of himself. His most disturbing attack, in my opinion, at least, features him trapping his opponents in a clear box before detonating the inside, legitimately straight up killing the main cast at one point and literally sending them to the afterlife. He can also teleport his enemy to a space called the D Dimension, so they can fight without interruption. Following Chapter Six, he makes use of the mind-controlling seedlings that cropped up there, using them to bend both Luigi and O'Chunks to his personal will. Finally, in the final battle, he merges with Mr. L's Brobot to create Super Dimentio.

Alright, now, let's see what we can do. Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: D-Curse
Basically, the weird spiky projectile he uses throughout his battles. He will throw forward two or three of them.

Side B: Duplicates
He will zoom forward and mirror images of himself will appear behind him, moving around and mimicking his moves. These won't last long and will disappear after a single hit.

Up B: Teleport
Basically, he will teleport in exactly the same way he does throughout the game.

Down B: D-Trap
Dimentio will first summon a clear box that will trap any opponent caught in it. If you press the command again, he will snap his fingers and the box will detonate, dealing severe damage to those inside.

Final Smash: Super Dimentio
He might also transport you into the D-Dimension, but basically, he will summon Super Dimentio and use it to unleash an all-out attack on a specific opponent.

Entrance: He will teleport in.

Taunts: His coy laugh that he does, holding up the Chaos Heart, maybe snapping his finger and causing a small explosion.

Thanks for reading! Next up, we leave the main villains behind and cover the major henchmen directly working for the main villains, starting with Yaridovich, or more accurately, the Smithy Gang as a whole.

Count Bleck, or Blumiere, is the main villain (initially) of Super Paper Mario, a shadow being who fell in love with a human named Timpani. After she was supposedly killed thanks to the interference of his disapproving family, he went a wee bit off the deep end and used the Dark Prognosticus to summon the powerful Chaos Heart which would put an end to all worlds and erase the pain he felt. (A bit extreme but okay.) He ends up being double-crossed by his henchman Dimentio, so he's not quite THE main villain, but pretty close.

Obviously the Dark Prognosticus spellbook and the Chaos Heart, alongside the black hole it summons, can possibly be worked into a moveset, such as a Final Smash. Across the various cutscenes, he is shown warping using distortions and shielding himself with said distortions, trapping opponents in cages of light, and throwing black holes as projectile. A bit funky, but I think we can make do. I suppose we should mention his most faithful henchwoman Nastasia, who sadly did not make it in as a fighter due to her lack of boss fights, but if not as an assist trophy, she could theoretically be considered for his moveset too. Let's do this.

He're's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Black Hole
His standard move of casting black holes as projectiles that then hold the opponent in place for a short time.

Side B: Darkness Sweep OR Nastasia
If we want to stick strictly to Bleck and leave Nastasia to be an assist trophy, we can make use of the sweeping motion he uses in battle, but if we want to incorporate Nastasia, she would pop out in front of him, flash her glasses, and the opponent would get turned around for a second or stunned.

Up B: Teleport
A square would appear around him and turn him around, making him disappear from existence, much as he does in the game whenever leaving a room or in battle. He would then reappear higher up.

Down B: Shield of Light
He would use the weird cage of light-distortion thing he uses to protect himself as a shielding move. This shield will hold very well except against the most powerful moves.

Final Smash: The End of All Worlds
The giant black hole he summons will appear in the background and swallow up the stage entirely. The stage will be a blank white slate for a short time afterwards.

Entrance: He will flip in the way he does when he enters.

Taunts: Flourishing his cape, pulling his hat down, "Bleh heh heh--BLECK!," other things like that.

Thanks for reading! Next up, we'll cover Dimentio, the true villain of Super Paper Mario!

Today, we will be covering Sir Grodus, the "main" villain of Paper Mario: the Thousand-Year Door. He is the leader of the X-Nauts, a race of aliens living on the moon who joined forced with the Shadow Sirens to wake up their queen who would then give them the power to conquer the world. This plan was not well thought-through though, as Grodus ended up being literally vaporized by the queen the second she was set free.

There's not too much to cover, but definitely enough. In his battle, he is almost always surrounded by Yuxes, little X-shaped creatures that project a shield around him when they're out and they shoot projectiles of their own. He can also use his wand to summon lightning, shoot a beam of blue fire, and freeze opponents. He can also make himself dodgy so he can avoid moves. Not sure about an upward aerial move, but we'll figure it out.

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: X-Yux
This move will allow him to summon an X-Yux. He can summon up to two. If two are out a shield will be automatically projected around him, making him invulnerable to hits until you take one of the two out. If he has two out, pressing B again will cause them to shoot a projectile.

Side B: Blue Fire
This will be his basic projectile move that he uses throughout the game, firing a small bolt of blue energy at the opponent.

Up B: Time Out
This one's a bit of a stretch, but I think it can work. It would kind of work on the principle of he would freeze time for a second, giving the impression that he disappeared and reappeared in a new location. You might also use the wavy animation from his dodgy ability as he "teleports." I don't know.

Down B: Lightning
This one's pretty basic. He will call down a burst of lightning, just like he does in the game.

Final Smash: Shadow Queen
This is technically also going to be the Final Smash of the Shadow Sirens, but it also works for him. He will summon the Shadow Queen, who will send her tendrils across the stage, dragging the characters into her realm.

Entrance: He will step off of the lift from his moon base.

Taunts: Tapping his sceptre in his hand. A secret taunt might make use of TEC-XX. If I remember right, he had a silly laugh like Crump did.

Thanks for reading! Next up, we'll cover Count Bleck!

Today, let's cover Kammy Koopa! Kammy is an elderly Magikoopa witch who serves basically the same function as Kamek, acting as Bowser's advisor throughout the first two Paper Mario games. (I guess they didn't want to just use Kamek). As such, she is pretty much identical to Kamek on a functional level, and as such, the two will act as echo fighters of each other, though much like Mouser and Tiny Mouser, they will appear on different rosters so will not be designated as such.

Here's her moveset, patterned on Kamek's:

Standard B: Magic Spell

Side B: Broomstick
It's a little bit slower, as he broom tends to putter a bit like it's old and worn down.

Up B: Teleport

Down B: Enhancement Spell
I'm going to go with the stat boost move for sure here.

Final Smash: Boss Battle

Entrance: Swoop in on her broom and cackles.

Taunts: I would like to incorporate all the prizes she won when she visited Glitzville in the second game, but I'm not sure how to go about it. Also, her epithets for Bowser that sound like insults would be fun as well.

Next up: Let's cover the main villain of Thousand-Year Door, Sir Grodus!

Today, let's start in our main villains of the RPGs. Starting off this list, we have Smithy, the leader of the Smithy gang and the main villain of Super Mario RPG. Smithy lives in an alternate dimension where he forges every single member of his army. He sends his giant sword minion Exor to stab into Bowser's castle, creating an opening between their worlds through which he sends his army.

Smithy's fight with you takes place in two stages. In the first, he uses his sledgehammer to fight you, and has a smelter next to his forge that spits out hot metal that he then forges into a minion to help him. After you beat him in that form, you start fighting him in a new form during which he switches around his heads. These heads include Tank Head that shoots tank shells at you, Magic Head that can use magical attacks, Treasure Head that causes random effects, and Masked Head which lets him heal. As with most from this game, the most difficult part is figuring out an Up B, but I think I've got it.

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Head Switch
This will function on a similar principle to Shulk's Monado Arts. He will switch between the four heads which will give him stat boosts. Tank Head will make him hit harder, Magic Head will make him lighter and add a magic effect to his moves, Masked Head will heal and defend him while he wears it, and Treasure Head will cause a random bonus.

Side B: Smelter
He will point his smelter forward and it will spew molten hot metal across the stage, doing serious damage to the opponents.

Up B: Conveyor Belt
It's not the best, but I think it works. It's based on the conveyor belts that fill his world, delivering the newly formed soldiers to the Mario world. The belt will appear above him and convey him upward and away from danger.

Down B: Minion
Basically he will pound out a minion from his army (one of the basic level ones), and that minion will then wander the stage, fighting for you. He can only make one at a time.

Final Smash: Exor
His giant sword Exor will fly down and stab through the stage, sending any opponents flying.

Entrance: He will be working at his forge when the match begins.

Taunts: Waving around his hammer. Pounding out a minion and sending it on. So on.

Thanks for reading! Next up, we'll cover Bowser's right-hand woman in the Paper Mario series: Kammy!

Today, we'll cover the seven Star Spirits. Eldstar, Mamar, Skolar, Muskular, Misstar, Klevar, and Kalmar are seven celestial beings who live on Star Hill and act as the first Paper Mario game's level McGuffins, held captive by the chapter bosses. Once you rescue them, they each return to Star Hill and grant you a new power to help you. They also guard the Star Rod, which gives Bowser heightened powers, so it can be a part of their moveset too. The seven spirits, plus Twink, will act as individual color swaps.

Eldstar gives you a simple ability to replenish your health. Mamar sings a lullaby to put enemies to sleep. Skolar calls down a meteor storm on opponents. Muskular chills out opponents and decreases their attack power. Misstar will kiss Mario to replenish his health. Klevar will immobilize an enemy for a short time. Kalmar will transform enemies into stars and they will drift away. At the end of the game, all seven plus Twink will come together to fire a Star Beam to negate the powers of the Star Rod. Definitely enough to work with.

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Star Storm
This one will be a bit smaller than is normally portrayed in the game, fitting more of a standard attack. You will use Skolar's special move of calling down a hail of stars on your opponent, but it will originate directly from the player as a spray of projectiles.

Side B: Time Out
For this one, you will use Klevar's ability to temporarily stun an enemy. Use it on an opponent and they will be frozen in place for a few seconds.

Up B: Up & Away
This one is based on Kalmar's ability, except for this one, he will actually transform himself into a regular star and fly upward for a short time.

Down B: Replenish
This one will be primarily based on both Eldstar and Misstar's ability to restore your health. Perform this one to alleviate some of the damage you've racked up.

Final Smash: Star Beam
Of course, it had to be this one. All eight stars will come out and circle around each other above the stage before firing off a beam of light that does serious damage to those it touches.

Entrance: They'll circle down from the heavens, like they do.

Taunts: Circle around with some sparkles, blow a kiss to represent Misstar or sing a lullaby to represent Mamar, so on.

Thanks for reading! Next up, we begin our run of main villains with Smithy.

So, today's going to be kind of fun. We will be covering Merlon, the wizard who appears across the first three Paper Mario games. Technically, we're actually covering Merlon, Merlee, Merluvlee, Merle, Merlow, Madame Merlar, Merlumina, and Nolrem, each as a color swap of each other. They are a family of magical beings who help you in various ways across the three games and together give just enough for a moveset.

Merlon in the first game mostly gives you hints about where to go next on your quest, though at one specific point blasts lightning at the Koopa Bros. to reveal their disguise. In the second game, he upgrades your partners, allowing them to learn new moves twice. In the third game, he plays a more active role as your primary mentor, giving you the first pure heart, and was the one to transform Tippi into a Pixl. Merlee is Merlon's granddaughter, who will cast a charm upon you that will randomly give you a boost in stats during battle in the first two games. In the third game, she is held hostage by Mimi and will charm you to receive a roulette wheel for various items after freeing her. Merluvlee is Merlee's twin sister, or rival. In all of the games, she will give you hints to Star Pieces and other items, and in the first, owns a chest that pairs with another in Peach's castle. Merle is the father of Merlee and Merluvlee, who looks after the star children before they become Star Sprites. Merlow is Merluvlee's younger brother who will trade star pieces for badges. Madame Merlar is an ancient ancestor of the family who grants you the star stone to be able to reach Bowser's castle. Merlumina is another ancestor who guards a pure heart in the third game. She later appears where she requires a lullaby to put her to sleep. Finally Nolrem is the Flopside alternate version of Merlon, who also acts as a guide to you.

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Lightning
Merlon, or one of the other shamans, will blast lightning from the medallion at their chest, doing significant damage.

Side B: Charm
The shaman will cast a charm that will randomly boost one of their stats for the next minute or so.

Up B: Lullaby
I imagine they will be fairly flighty so they won't need so much of an aerial lift for this one. Instead, they will take a page from Jigglypuff's book and sing, putting those around them to sleep.

Down B: Magical Chest
Basically, the shaman will climb into Merluvlee's chest from the first game which will then disappear. The chest will then reappear in a random location on the stage, thus getting them out of harm's way.

Final Smash: Pure Hearts
A Heart Pillar will appear in the center of the stage, and the shaman will place a pure heart into the center of it. The Pure Heart will then do its normal song and dance with the big lines around it and stuff, except any opponent touched by the lines will receive damage, similar to Bowser Jr.'s current Final Smash.

Entrance: They will appear out of nowhere, as they are wont to do.

Taunts: They will look into their crystal ball for a moment. They will look through a collection of star pieces. They will read the Light Prognosticus.

Thanks for reading! Next up, we'll do something similar with the Star Spirits.

Today, let's cover Huey, basically your Kersti but for Color Splash. He is a living paint bucket and guardian of the Prisma Fountain in Port Prisma, who joins up with Mario after Bowser, possessed by the black paint, drains the fountain and captures the paint stars who inhabit it. Huey, being the source of a lot of Mario's paint-based moves in the game, functions well as a gimmick rep, not just for Mario's paint moves but all paint-based properties demonstrated in the game.

First up, we have Mario's basic move of smacking things with his hammer and making a paint splatter when he does so. By extension, we also have the whole Shy Guys sucking up paint through straws thing, which works well too. After that, we have his ability to squeeze paint out of an item to add to his totals. The paint totals in the game suggest a concept similar to Inklings. After that we do have the fountain itself and the rainbow road it can create, and all the properties of black paint. Last but not least, we do have the real-world items returning as well if we can incorporate them.

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Paint Splatter
Basically the whole paint splatter with the hammer thing. Huey will smack a hammer forward which will splatter and leave paint on the stage or the player characters.

Side B: Straw
Huey will pull out a straw and stick it to an opponent, sucking them dry of color and filling up his own paint levels, which will have a little marker down by their face.

Up B: Paint Fountain
A small fountain plume will spurt up from the ground, launching Huey into the air and leaving a massive splatter across the stage.

Down B: Real World Item
This one will be exactly the same as Kersti's, however it will feature a different assortment of items than what Kersti had, probably ones more unique to Color Splash, like the Piggy Bank and the Disco Ball.

Final Smash: Black Paint Bomb
I mean, easily one of the most interesting parts of the whole game, and you think I wasn't going to do it? Basically, the giant Bullet Bill filled to the brim with black paint will fly in and slam into the stage, exploding and covering every single surface with black paint, which will deal heavy poison damage to the fighters.

Entrance: Huey will descend on the rainbow road from the end of the game.

Taunts: Huey will spin around and present himself. He'll smack a random white spot with a hammer. A paint star will come out and he's spin around them in awe.

Thanks for reading! Next up, let's move on to the wise sorcerer Merlon!

Character Sheet: Kersti

 KERSTI

Are you guys excited? I'm excited. You should be too. You know why? Cause today we get to cover all the freakin' amazing characters from Super Mario RPG and the Paper Mario (pre-TOK) series, and even the not so amazing ones too. Here's the full list:

Today, let's cover basically our gimmick rep for Paper Mario: Sticker Star, Kersti! Kersti is a sticker-being who acted as the guardian for the legendary Sticker Star, joining forces with Mario when it was taken by Bowser. Although almost all of the moves here were used by Mario, largely with help from Kersti, I felt she was the best to represent the whole sticker gimmick as a whole.

So, first of all, we have the entire sticker gimmick as a whole. Some of the core mechanics there include the stickers themselves, littering the game's world and holding sections of it down. Then there's the ability to tear those stickers off. Then of course we have the paperize ability, which allows Mario and Kersti to turn the game into a 2D image and peel sections up or lay them down. We also have the slap game, which allows Mario to take real-world items, throw them at a wall, and turn them into stickers. We also have a number of real-world items we can factor in, given their effects on fights. Finally, the Sticker Star itself makes one invulnerable and unleashes a terrible sticker-filled whirlwind early in the game.

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Sticker
This move will allow Kersti to slap a sticker across an opponent's face. As long as the sticker remains, it will continue to do damage. Kersti can press the command again to rip the sticker off of the opponent, adding another burst of damage.

Side B: Slap
Basically, Kersti will pull out an item and chuck it as hard as she can toward an opponent the way you do in the slap game to create new stickers. This will act as a projectile.

Up B: Whirlwind
Kersti will whip up a whirlwind just like the one at the beginning of the game that will launch her upward and leave a bunch of colorful stickers everywhere.

Down B: Real-World Items
This one is a bit of a random move, with you having the option to pull out one of five items that have different effects. The Scissors will cut across the stage quickly, doing damage. The Fan will whip up a heavy wind. The Cat-o-Luck will simply drop down and squash an opponent. The Vacuum Cleaner will do the opposite of the fan and suck opponents in. And the Roast Chicken will dance around nonsensically.

Final Smash: Paperize
The screen will turn into a 2D image and Kersti will be able to select a fighter and peel them up off of the stage, KOing them.

Entrance: Kersti will arrive with the Sticker Star.

Taunts: Kersti will flip through her sticker book. She might float around the Sticker Star and threaten anyone to come near it. So on.

Thanks for reading! Next up, we'll cover her spiritual successor for Color Splash, Huey!

Character Sheet: Tippi & Pixls

 TIPPI & PIXLS

Are you guys excited? I'm excited. You should be too. You know why? Cause today we get to cover all the freakin' amazing characters from Super Mario RPG and the Paper Mario (pre-TOK) series, and even the not so amazing ones too. Here's the full list:

33. Rawk Hawk
34. Francis
35. Culex

Today, let's cover what counts for companions in Super Paper Mario. Rather than fleshed out characters like in the previous games, you instead recruit a number of fairy-like beings called Pixls, each of whom can do pretty much one thing and one thing only. The only one with some depth is Tippi, or Lady Timpani, a human who was transformed into a pixl to save her from death by the wizard Merlon. In gameplay, you would pretty much play as Tippi, fluttering around the stage and using the other Pixls as your moves.

Your other Pixls who form the basic for your moveset include Thoreau, who can grab and throw (so, your obvious grab); Boomer, a bomb; Slim, who turns you sideways; Thudley, who gives you a butt bash; Carrie, who carries you around as a platform over hazardous terrain; Fleep, who can turn things around and reveal secrets; Cudge, a living hammer (probably a lot of your basic moves); Dottie, who shrinks you; Barry, a living barrier; Dashell, who makes you run fast; Piccolo, a music note that plays healing music; and Tiptron, a robotic replacement for Tippi after . . . ahem, spoilers happen. All of these would feature in the moveset in one way or another but only so many can be special moves.

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Boomer
One of your most useful Pixls, it's only fitting he take his place as your standard special so that Kirby can place him down when he has cute little Tippi wings attached to his back. Basically, you could either throw Boomer and he'll explode on impact, or you can set him down and he'll explode a short time later.

Side B: Fleep
I went with Fleep for this one, as it would work well as a move reflector, similar to Mario and Dr. Mario's cape move. Basically, Fleep will flip anything directly in front of Tippi, turning it around, be it projectiles, items, or even opponents.

Up B: Carrie
Carrie will appear under Tippi and the other pixls and carry them higher into the air than they would normally go. This won't take them too high, but not all of them have to, right? Especially since Tippi would likely be pretty floaty already.

Down B: Barry
Barry will form a barrier around Tippi, with spikes that do damage to anyone that tries to come near her.

Final Smash: 3D Flip
So, remember how I suggested this for Paper Mario's moveset, alongside three others. Well, if we went for one of the others, this one would work well for Tippi and the Pixls, considering it is a Super Paper Mario specific gimmick, and they are the closest thing to a gimmick rep for this specific game.

Entrance: One of the doors from the game would draw itself, Tippi would come through, and then it would disappear by undrawing itself.

Taunts: The other Pixls would come out and circle around Tippi. One of the other Pixls would come out and play with Tippi. Piccolo would play some music. Of course, since Tippi is your "Tattle" function this time, a secret taunt wouldn't be out of place.

Thanks for reading! Next up, we'll cover your companion for Sticker Star, Kersti!

Today, I want to talk about your companions from the first two Paper Mario games. You have a grand total of fifteen and I went in wanting to make sure each and every one of them was represented in some way. Most of them existed primarily as a representative of one Mario enemy or another: Goombario and Goombella as Goombas; Kooper, Parakarry, and Koops generally representing Koopas; Bombette and Bobbery for Bob-Ombs; Lady Bow for Boos; Sushie for Cheep Cheeps; Lakilester for Lakitus; Ms. Mowz for Tiny Mousers; and your Yoshi companion. Generally speaking all of them worked well simply being color swaps of that specific species. We were then left with Watt, Flurrie, and Vivian. Vivian, paired up with her sisters, fit nicely into a slot for the Shadow Sirens as a whole. Watt and Flurrie though were harder. All the moves Watt gave were basically different levels of the same move, so sadly she may have to only be represented by an assist trophy. Flurrie, on the other hand, had a few moves at her disposal, but even then almost didn't make it in until I remembered that, though she isn't quite an exact match, there are several cloud enemies throughout the Mario series that function on the same basic principle (for example, Ty Foos, Puffs, and the cloud from Super Mario 64). Putting her together with those, and giving her color swaps to go along with them, she just made it in by the skin of her teeth.

Flurrie's main moves in Thousand-Year Door include a body slam, blowing a strong wind from her mouth with tremendous force, a stupefying kiss, and summoning fog to increase your chances to avoid getting hit. Other wind/cloud based enemies also include sending tornadoes to hit you, and some even use lightning attacks (in case Watt wants to join the party). It may all be a little reaching, but in the end, I think we have enough.

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Gale Force
The most basic of attacks. Flurrie will take a deep breath and blow a strong wind across the stage, acting much as Whispy Woods or that wind jar item thing. Not much to say here.

Side B: Watt
Lip Lock can act as a suitable replacement if you don't prefer this. This move does represent some cloud enemies' ability to throw electric attacks, while extending a saving branch to the one companion who fell through the cracks. Flurrie will send Watt out and she will let out a blast of electricity. If you want a headcanon, maybe all the companions got together to celebrate receiving their Smash invitations and Flurrie noticed Watt feeling left out and offered to bring her along.

Up B: Body Slam
Flurrie will throw herself high into the air and slam back down on her large belly, squashing anyone caught beneath her.

Down B: Dodgy Fog
Flurrie will spew a thick fog around her, making it so opponents can't quite see her and making it easier to dodge attacks.

Final Smash: Ty Foo
For this one, I like to imagine a horde of Ty Foo enemies appear behind the stage and blow with everything they've got, similar to a few scenes from a few games featuring them.

Entrance: A curtain rises, revealing Flurrie preening herself for battle.

Taunts: If Watt's a part of her moveset, Watt could come out and Flurrie would fawn over how cute she is. She might also examine her precious pearls or put on makeup. Her wink and kissy face she makes sometimes also works.

Thanks for reading! Next up, we'll stick all your companions from Super Paper Mario together in one slot.

Today, let's cover Mallow, the not-as-fondly remembered but still beloved companion from Super Mario RPG, Mallow. Mallow is your first companion in the game, a cloud boy raised by frogs who soon discovers his true heritage as the crowned prince of Nimbus Land. Almost all of his moves are weather-based, him being a cloud and all. These include Thunderbolt, a blast of lightning; HP Rain, a healing rain shower; Psychopath, basically the Goomba's tattle move; Shocker, a giant lightning bolt; Snowy, summoning a giant snowman to crush your enemies; and Star Rain, calling down a falling star to smash them. Outside of the special moves, Mallow generally uses cymbals or his grandfather's froggie stick as a weapon.

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Shocker
Mallow will summon a giant lightning bolt that will shock opponents and stick in the ground for a short time, electrocuting anyone who touches it.

Side B: Cymbals
Basically, he will lash out with his two cymbals and clash an opponent between them. Other moves could work here, but this one felt the most right.

Up B: Snowy
I'm a little bit uncertain here, just because it technically doesn't give him any aerial movement in game, but I figure he would whip up a strong winter blizzard around him that would launch him up into the air, while leaving behind a snowman in his place. If not that, I would go with Sergeant Flutter the Paratroopa from the game, as he is used to get to Nimbus Land, Mallow's home.

Down B: HP Rain
Basically, Mallow would summon a rain cloud over his own head that would pour healing rain down upon him.

Final Smash: Star Rain
He would call down a star or a number of stars that would then bounce, doing more damage, as they do in the game. Snowy works well here as well, with Mallow just summoning a blizzard that ends with a giant snowman filling up the stage for a short time afterward.

Entrance: He falls from high above and faceplants when he lands.

Taunts: Floating out of his pants has to be a constant thing for his design. Smashing his cymbals. And of course, Psychopath is an option on Super Mario RPG-themed stages.

Thanks for reading! Next up, we'll cover the only Paper Mario companion who didn't quite fit into an enemy group, Flurrie!

Alright, here we go. The guy everyone wants. One of the most uniquely requested fighters out there, with a bit of a unique backstory to go with it. If you're a Smash fan, you probably know it already. Nintendo and Square worked together to make Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars. The game went over very well, and Geno was the most popular character introduced. And then, when all was said and done, Nintendo and Square went their separate ways, Square claiming their rights to the character and he was never seen again. Years later, Smash introduced the potential for third-party characters to appear with Snake, and the requests started flooding in, Sonic leading the pack with Geno right behind him. Although rumors abound, we have yet to see him truly appear as a playable fighter.

Geno's abilities in Super Mario RPG include the Geno Beam, a pretty basic laser beam; Geno Boost, a stat-boosting ability; Geno Whirl, a spinning disc of light; Geno Blast, a rainbow beam from the sky; and Geno Flash, in which he transforms into a cannon and fires a sun that then expands to fill the screen. He has several more basic moves, including shooting pellets from his fingertips, shooting stars, and rocket fists. Various elements from Super Mario RPG can be considered as well, as one of the main characters from it, he can act as a gimmick rep as well. Let's see what we've got.

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Geno Beam
Geno will fire a bright laser from his arm, just as he does in Super Mario RPG. It's a pretty basic move.

Side B: Geno Whirl
Geno will create a spinning disc of light and throw it across the stage as a projectile. Once again, it functions more or less as it should.

Up B: Forest Springs OR Geno Boost
So, the original thought for this was Geno Boost. Although it doesn't give him any aerial momentum in the game, I imagined it could launch him in the Smash version, surrounding him with the up arrows and clouds that appear in the original game, boosting him upward, while also giving him a stat boost. If not that, I thought he might go the Sonic route and use one of the springs that appear in the Forest Maze, launching you up and out of the hollow stumps.

Down B: Geno Blast
Geno will call down a rainbow beam from the heavens, Pikachu-style, to blast his enemies. Geno Boost could also work well here, as stat boosters work well as Down Bs.

Final Smash: Geno Flash
Geno will transform himself into a cannon and fire a small sun into the middle of the stage. The sun will then expand outward burning and launching any character caught in its radius.

Entrance: A tiny Geno doll will be sitting on the stage. Light from the sky above will shine upon it and it will transform into the fully formed Geno.

Taunts: his arms-crossed nod that he does in the series works well. The star leaving his body and swirling around the lifeless doll for a second could be fun.

Thanks for reading! Next up, we'll cover his friend and teammate, Mallow!

Character Sheet: Mr. L

 MR. L

Today, let's cover Mr. L! I ultimately elected against doing whole separate slots for Paper Luigi, Paper Peach, Paper Bowser, and so on, as those would be superfluous and there wasn't enough there to justify their creations, so for Luigi at least, this is as close as he gets. Mr. L is a major villain in Super Paper Mario, one of Count Bleck's minions. He is mysterious, always hiding his identity behind a mask, and I, for one, have honestly no idea who he could possibly be. Do you?

I elected to make him an echo fighter of Luigi, as (although I'm not entirely certain of any sort of connection between them) in person he fights very similarly to the way Luigi moves around in game, so it makes sense. The major differences between them is Mr. L's giant Brobot robot, which he uses to fly around in space and attack you with missiles and lasers and such (basically, a really great Final Smash).

Here is his moveset:

Standard B: Ice Flower
Based on the Ice Flower item in the Paper Mario games.

Side B: Boomerang

Up B: Super Jump

Down B: POW Block

Final Smash: Brobot
The Brobot will appear on one side of the screen, firing a number of lasers and missiles, before ultimately finishing you off with his super suction.

Entrance: Jumps onto the stage and poses.

Taunts: His flashy poses throughout the game.

Next up: Let's cover Geno! (Wouldn't it just be stupid if Nintendo shadowdropped a Direct with a Geno reveal before I uploaded tomorrow. Come on, Nintendo! Your timing has been impeccable so far. Throw me for a loop one more time! I dare you.)

Character Sheet: Paper Mario

 PAPER MARIO

Are you guys excited? I'm excited. You should be too. You know why? Cause today we get to cover all the freakin' amazing characters from Super Mario RPG and the Paper Mario (pre-TOK) series, and even the not so amazing ones too. Here's the full list:

Now, we come to the good stuff. Oooh, I'm so excited! Okay, first up we have Paper Mario, Mario's alt version starring in the Paper Mario games. He will be similar to Mr. Game & Watch in that he'll be entirely 2D, possibly even with the added gimmick of flapping in the breeze and getting crumpled and so on. His moves will likely draw from both the Paper MARIO games and the PAPER Mario games, although a little less than the latter as Kersti, Huey, and Olivia do the job of gimmick rep well enough.

In the story-driven games, a lot of his moves consist of variations on his jump and hammer moves, with badges and items to enhance them in some way. He also has allies to help him out, both in battle and out, although with all of them being part of the roster as a color swap of their particular species (the only exception being Watt), I don't know how much they will come into play here. In Thousand-Year Door, you gained "cursed" abilities like being able to turn into a paper airplane, paper boat, roll up, and turn sideways. Both of the first games gave you added abilities through the McGuffins you were collecting, and those can come into play here possibly. In the third game, you also gained the ability to literally switch from a 2D world to a 3D world. In the craft-themed games, as stated before, Kersti, Huey, and Olivia do the job pretty well of covering those, but all the sticker, paint, and origami abilities from those can come into play as well.

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Mega Hammer
Mario will strike with his hammer. It will take after some of the newer characters and have levels to the move's strength based on how long you press in the commands, varying from the basic smack, to the full twisting windup of the strongest hit.

Side B: Companions
I thought this would be a fun way to work in the side characters and make sure they got that last little bit of representation alongside their full color swaps in their species' slot. It will be a randomized move, with you tossing one of your fifteen companions from the first two games, all with varying levels of effect, with the two Goombas being the lightest damage, and the two Bob-Ombs being the heaviest damage.

Up B: Mega Jump
This one is also based on the varying levels principle, with the differences ranging from just a larger jump with a strong damage percentage on the landing, to springing ridiculously high into the air for maximum recovery.

Down B: Flip
Basically a strong defensive move. Mario will flip himself sideways, meaning any attack that comes his way will pass right by. He can hold this state for a short time and can move around that way.

Final Smash: Companion Rush OR Meteor Shower OR 3D Flip OR Real World Item
Basically, I had several good ideas on this one. In order, they are my favorite, the most likely to happen, the cool but impractical, and the one I'd rather not have. Companion Rush is my favorite, where basically you call in all of Paper Mario's companions and they all rush the opponent at once. (I would cry tears of joy at the sight of it). The more likely one to happen though is probably a final Smash based on the Star Spirits or the Crystal Stars from either of the first two games (most likely the Meteor Shower move from both). 3D Flip, based on Super Paper Mario, would be really cool but probably stupid difficult to make a reality, so let's move on. Finally, we have Real World Item, like using the giant fan or scissors or something. I'd rather not personally, and honestly Kersti or Huey could both use it just fine, so I'll let them have it.

Entrance: Popping out of his own Smash letter would probably be really awesome.

Taunt: Turning into a paper boat, waving to the audience for audience points, flipping through his own book. And of course, a secret taunt in the form of Goombario and Goombella tattling on the opponent.

Thanks for reading! Next up, we'll cover a semi-echo like Mouser, Mr. L!

Character Sheet: Mouser

 MOUSER

Are you guys excited? I'm excited. You should be too. You know why? Cause today we get to cover all the freakin' amazing characters from Super Mario RPG and the Paper Mario (pre-TOK) series, and even the not so amazing ones too. But before we get into the real meat, I suppose we should first cover any of the more general Mario characters added because of their appearances here. Here's the full list:

1. Cheep Cheep
2. Bob-Omb
3. Spike
4. Tiny Mouser
5. Mouser
6. Paper Mario
7. Mr. L
8. Geno
9. Mallow
10. Flurrie
11. Tippi & Pixls
12. Kersti
13. Huey
14. Merlon
15. Star Spirits
16. Smithy
17. Kammy Koopa
18. Sir Grodus
19. Count Bleck
20. Dimentio
21. Yaridovich
22. Axem Rangers
23. Lord Crump
24. The Shadow Sirens
25. O'Chunks
26. Mimi
27. Croco
28. Booster
29. Jonathan Jones
30. Valentina
31. Jr. Troopa
32. Doopliss
33. Rawk Hawk
34. Francis
35. Culex

Today is kind of a weird day. Technically, unlike the others on this list, this character did not appear in any of the games being covered. He has however been added as an extension to the Tiny Mouser enemy, as the Tiny Mouser's design is based on the original Mouser from Super Mario Bros. 2, so it is only fitting that Mouser become an echo fighter upon Tiny Mouser's inclusion to the roster. Another weird element to this is that these two, while echo fighters, will appear on entirely different rosters. Tiny Mouser will appear on the Yoshi roster, being a Yoshi enemy primarily, while Mouser will appear on the Mario roster, appearing in Super Mario Bros. 2, a Mario game. They will still be functionally echoes of each other, but will not be listed as such on the specific rosters. (We'll see this a couple more times before we're through here).

Basically Mouser will have the same moves as Tiny Mouser, with the exception of the kiss move, as flirtiness is not exactly a part of Mouser's design and would feel really weird. The move will be similar, just not quite the same. That's pretty much it to say though.

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Steal

Side B: Sucker Punch
Basically Mouser will use the punching gloves he wears and sucker punch an opponent, leaving them in a similar dizzy state.

Up B: Magnet

Down B: Bomb

Final Smash: Stock Thief

Entrance: Mouser will emerge from a Subcon Door.

Taunts: Maybe some stuff from his appearance in the animated series.

Thanks for reading! Next up, we begin the entirely new cast of characters with Paper Mario!
