BOB-OMB

Are you guys excited? I'm excited. You should be too. You know why? Cause today we get to cover all the freakin' amazing characters from Super Mario RPG and the Paper Mario (pre-TOK) series, and even the not so amazing ones too. But before we get into the real meat, I suppose we should first cover any of the more general Mario characters added because of their appearances here. Here's the full list:

Much like Sushie in last post, Bombette and Bobbery did a lot to fill in Bob-Omb's potential, who, prior to this, didn't have much to work with outside of, well, exploding. But now, we have several things to work with and we should be able to make a moveset for ourselves.

Bobbery technically did more than Bombette for this moveset as most of Bombette's moves were basically different levels of explosion. Bobbery mixed it up by adding timed bombs and adding in a defensive move, Hold Fast. Attach that to the small handful of other things we've seen over the course of this series, I think we're good for a moveset featuring Bombette, Bobbery, and now Bobby all as color swaps.

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Explosion
This one's the basic. You know what it is. They blow up. Pretty simple. (They will come back, so . . . more like Bobbery and Bombette than Bobby).

Side B: Cannon
This one is more based on the cannons used by Bob-Ombs throughout the series, especially in Super Mario 64 (though the cannon in Thousand-Year Door is at least a nice nod). They will either fall into the cannon with it opening beneath them, getting launched themselves, but another possibility is to have them have the cannon rise to their side and then fire one of the water bubbles fired in 64.

Up B: Albatoss
This one is based on the Bob-Omb's frequent companions in Super Mario Bros. 2. An albatoss will swoop out and pick up the Bob-Omb, carrying it high into the air and dropping it. The Bob-Omb will then descend on a parachute. The parachute will also show up frequently, much like Peach's umbrella.

Down B: Bomb Squad
This one is based on Bobbery's time bomb move. The Bob-Omb will drop a bomb that will countdown to zero before exploding. It can place at least three bombs at a time.

Final Smash: King Bob-Omb
Nintendo once again proving to be the masters of bad timing for this series, this character suddenly got a massive boost in popularity in the week leading up to this post, making me reconsider my choice to not make him an echo fighter. For now, I'm tentatively placing him here. Basically, he will drop onto the stage and set off a massive blast, bigger than regular explosions.

Entrance: They will drop in via a parachute.

Taunts: That weird sound the pink ones made when you talked to them in 64 is probably good. Some of the actions of Bombette and Bobbery too. Maybe even sitting down and crossing their feet like Bobby.

Thanks for reading! Next up, we'll cover the Spike enemy, who also managed to have their moveset filled in!
