So, today's going to be kind of fun. We will be covering Merlon, the wizard who appears across the first three Paper Mario games. Technically, we're actually covering Merlon, Merlee, Merluvlee, Merle, Merlow, Madame Merlar, Merlumina, and Nolrem, each as a color swap of each other. They are a family of magical beings who help you in various ways across the three games and together give just enough for a moveset.
Merlon in the first game mostly gives you hints about where to go next on your quest, though at one specific point blasts lightning at the Koopa Bros. to reveal their disguise. In the second game, he upgrades your partners, allowing them to learn new moves twice. In the third game, he plays a more active role as your primary mentor, giving you the first pure heart, and was the one to transform Tippi into a Pixl. Merlee is Merlon's granddaughter, who will cast a charm upon you that will randomly give you a boost in stats during battle in the first two games. In the third game, she is held hostage by Mimi and will charm you to receive a roulette wheel for various items after freeing her. Merluvlee is Merlee's twin sister, or rival. In all of the games, she will give you hints to Star Pieces and other items, and in the first, owns a chest that pairs with another in Peach's castle. Merle is the father of Merlee and Merluvlee, who looks after the star children before they become Star Sprites. Merlow is Merluvlee's younger brother who will trade star pieces for badges. Madame Merlar is an ancient ancestor of the family who grants you the star stone to be able to reach Bowser's castle. Merlumina is another ancestor who guards a pure heart in the third game. She later appears where she requires a lullaby to put her to sleep. Finally Nolrem is the Flopside alternate version of Merlon, who also acts as a guide to you.
Here's the moveset I came up with:
Standard B: Lightning
Merlon, or one of the other shamans, will blast lightning from the medallion at their chest, doing significant damage.
Side B: Charm
The shaman will cast a charm that will randomly boost one of their stats for the next minute or so.
Up B: Lullaby
I imagine they will be fairly flighty so they won't need so much of an aerial lift for this one. Instead, they will take a page from Jigglypuff's book and sing, putting those around them to sleep.
Down B: Magical Chest
Basically, the shaman will climb into Merluvlee's chest from the first game which will then disappear. The chest will then reappear in a random location on the stage, thus getting them out of harm's way.
Final Smash: Pure Hearts
A Heart Pillar will appear in the center of the stage, and the shaman will place a pure heart into the center of it. The Pure Heart will then do its normal song and dance with the big lines around it and stuff, except any opponent touched by the lines will receive damage, similar to Bowser Jr.'s current Final Smash.
Entrance: They will appear out of nowhere, as they are wont to do.
Taunts: They will look into their crystal ball for a moment. They will look through a collection of star pieces. They will read the Light Prognosticus.
Thanks for reading! Next up, we'll do something similar with the Star Spirits.
