Character Sheet: Zero Suit Samus

ZERO SUIT SAMUS

And now we come to the end of the game-originating characters (at least for now, the other media so far have added a few more in both Mario and Zelda). We have only two newcomers to mention today. They are:

1. Zero Suit Samus

2. Omega Metroid

Samus without her suit on has been a thing since the surprise reveal at the end of the very first game. However, it was Zero Mission that really inspired the sleek blue bodysuit and most of the moveset that inspired her appearance in Super Smash Bros. Her small stunning blaster came from there, that weird little flip move as well, with some of Samus's other moves filling in the rest, like the High Jump Boots and the Grapple Beam. I see no reason to mess with perfection.

Here's the moveset Sakurai mostly came up with:

Standard B: Stun Beam

Will stun the player in place for a second, pulling slightly from the Freeze Beam as well.

Side B: Laser Whip

I suspect some developer fetishes likely helped inspire this move just a little, but I'm going to stick with saying it comes from the Grapple Beam.

Up B: High Jump Boots

Just like in ultimate, her heels will act as the booster.

Down B: Flip

Honestly, I never understood this move until I watched the Zero Mission playthrough. Now, I appreciate this move enough to keep it in.

Final Smash: Samus's Spaceship

There's a few different options for the Final Smash provided by Smash itself, but I think I like the one where she stands on top of her ship and fires a beam down.

Entrance: Her suit will fall off of her.

Taunts: I think her Smash taunts might prove my earlier theory. I'm just going to say, up is adjusting her gun. Side is crouching and looking around. And down is her trying to call for backup.

Kirby Hat: Her ponytail.

Kart: Based on Samus's ship

Special Move: She will fire a stunner that will freeze a racer in place for two seconds.

Spirit Battle: A battle against Samus followed by her on Space Pirate Mothership.

Victory Screen: She will find her suit in containment and free it.

Losing Screen: That one screen where she looks stunned and the suit breaks off of her.

Color Swaps: Four of the bodysuit, four of the tank top. Bodysuits will be blue, pink, black and white, and green. Tank tops will be that dark blue one, the red one with the green hair, the orange one, and the white one.

Thanks for reading! Next up, a special type of Metroid!
