It's time for the monkeys! That's right. Monkeys. Just regular monkeys. It's rather surprising just how often regular monkeys crop up in this series and play a significant role in the plot. So far, we have the monkeys of Link to the Past that help guide you to one of the palaces, the monkeys of Majora's Mask that lead you to the captured Deku princess, and the monkeys of Twilight Princess, who help you through the forest temple. I believe at least one of them was named Kiki, but I don't think I can quite justify that as the name for all, so we're sticking with monkey.
Now, their role in Twilight Princess was the greatest contributor to their moveset, with several monkeys acting as aids to Link, and one having been corrupted and acting as a boss. We see them using a lantern to clear smoke, climb on vines, form chains, swing each other across gaps, give Link a boost, throw a boomerang around the place, and knock over pillars.
Here's the moveset I came up with:
Standard B: Boomerang
Considering the boomerang's role in the Temple in question, and its prominent use by the boss, I'd say it's perfectly reasonable that it should be here. Naturally, it will have a heavy wind effect to it.
Side B: Pillar
The monkey will hop on top of a large pillar and rock back and forth on top of it, toppling it after a few seconds for high damage.
Up B: Teamwork
A couple of monkeys will give the main monkey a boost into the air, up to a fourth monkey that will grab it and swing it in whatever direction the player wishes.
Down B: Smoke Clearance
The monkey will swing around the lantern that was used in the toxic fog area, creating a clear area around itself while summoning a cloud of toxic gas beyond that area, inflicting poison damage on opponents caught in it.
Final Smash: Monkey Mayhem
The biggest ultimate attack I can think of for a horde of monkeys would naturally be those monkeys wreaking havoc. The monkey will call in its fellows and they will work together, attacking the fighters and forming chains to grab them and toss them past the boundary line.
Entrance: The monkey will start trapped in a cage, before the cage breaks and they are set free.
Taunts: Up, the monkey will hop up and down excitedly. Side, the monkey will start to shake and cover its face as if afraid. Down, the monkey will wiggle its butt the way the boss would.
Thanks for reading! We cover the kings of Hyrule!
