NINJI
Today, we begin our newcomers. I did say going into this that the RPGs would likely be the last shot for many of the frequent enemies you wouldn't expect to see on a Smash roster, but what I didn't expect was that the RPGs would actually come through for a lot of them. At least one I thought was never going to happen in a million, billion years. But here we are. The first ten are all Mario regulars who finally took the step up to playable. The other sixteen are originals to the Mario & Luigi games (or Origami King) specifically.
1. Toadsworth
2. Captain Toad
3. Buzzy Beetle
4. King Bob-Omb
5. Pokey
6. Ninji
7. Thwomp
8. Whomp
9. Mechakoopa
10. Nabbit
11. Mario & Luigi
12. Prince Peasley
13. Prince Dreambert
14. Olivia
15. King Olly
16. Broque Monsieur
17. Massif Bros.
18. Cackletta
19. Fawful
20. Princess Shroob
21. The Dark Star
22. Antasma
23. Midbus
24. Shroob
25. Popple
26. Durmite/Wisdurm
Here's another slightly less than expected one. You might know Ninjis as those little ninja-looking dudes who just kinda jump a lot. That said, a lot of games, especially the more recent RPGs like Origami King and Paper Jam, have used them a lot and have applied to them a number of stereotypical ninja tropes, such as creating shadow clones of themselves, using substitution, hiding behind fake walls, clinging to the ceiling and spinning down from above, and throwing shurikens (or more acurately, their paper selves as shurikens).
Here is their moveset:
Standard B: Shuriken
The Ninji will throw a shuriken. Probably not themselves, though it can still be designed to look like one.
Side B: Lunge
Based on their most iconic move of sorts, the Ninji will spring forward and latch onto the face of their opponent.
Up B: Spring
The Ninji this time will spring upward very high as if leaping to the ceiling. The Ninji will then spin downward to attack those below.
Down B: Shadow Clone
This one's a bit of a defense/counter. The Ninji will create a couple of Shadow Clones. If the clone is attacked it will turn into a log and the Ninji will get away.
Final Smash: Ninja's Palace
The opponent will be taken into a cutscene wherein they will find themselves in a Shogun's Castle much like Shogun Studios. They will then look up to see Ninji hiding on the ceiling above. The screen will then be obscured behind rice paper as the horde of Ninji strike the opponent down.
Entrance: The Ninji will drop a fake wall and appear.
Taunts: Up, they will do the basic jumping animation. Side, they will take a sheet of paper and fold it into a shuriken. Down, they will pull up the false wall and hide behind it.
Thanks for reading! Next up . . . Eeeeeeeeeeee! I'm excited, not gonna lie. I'd main it.
