Character Sheet: Mechakoopa

 MECHAKOOPA

Today, we begin our newcomers. I did say going into this that the RPGs would likely be the last shot for many of the frequent enemies you wouldn't expect to see on a Smash roster, but what I didn't expect was that the RPGs would actually come through for a lot of them. At least one I thought was never going to happen in a million, billion years. But here we are. The first ten are all Mario regulars who finally took the step up to playable. The other sixteen are originals to the Mario & Luigi games (or Origami King) specifically.

1. Toadsworth

2. Captain Toad

3. Buzzy Beetle

4. King Bob-Omb

5. Pokey

6. Ninji

7. Thwomp

8. Whomp

9. Mechakoopa

10. Nabbit

11. Mario & Luigi

12. Prince Peasley

13. Prince Dreambert

14. Olivia

15. King Olly

16. Broque Monsieur

17. Massif Bros.

18. Cackletta

19. Fawful

20. Princess Shroob

21. The Dark Star

22. Antasma

23. Midbus

24. Shroob

25. Popple

26. Durmite/Wisdurm

Yet another enemy I didn't really expect to cover here, but, hey, the more the merrier! Mechakoopas are robotic windup Koopas used frequently throughout Bowser's Castle levels and often used by Bowser, Bowser Jr., or the Koopalings. The Mechakoopas do have a few recurring moves, like fire breath or laser fire, and if broken they can even give off electrical sparks to damage Mario in certain games. Let's see what we can do!

Here's the moveset:

Standard B: Fire Breath

The standard move. The Mechakoopa will open its mouth and spew fire back and forth.

Side B: Laser Beam

This is based on the move seen frequently in Mario Maker 2, as well as in a few other games. The Mechakoopa will start to charge before firing a straight beam across the stage.

Up B: Spring OR Rocket Boosters

Spring is a bit more of a standard Mechakoopa move, as many games will see them either spring up or be used as springs when flipped over. Rocket Boosters would reflect more their appearance in Mario Maker 2.

Down B: Short Circuit

The Mechakoopa will malfunction and create a shield of electricity around itself, damaging anyone who gets too close.

Final Smash: Mechabowser

There are multiple different variations to work with here. The one I connect most to them is the Mechabowser from the Galaxy games, although that one was a lot less aggressive than say the one from Sunshine. Either way, it will appear in the background and fire missiles at the stage.

Entrance: It will start out laying in pieces. A Koopa wearing a pit crew hat will step onto the stage and wind up its key.

Taunts: Up, it will flip over onto its belly like in Super Mario Galaxy for a second. Side, it will chomp back and forth and give off sparks. Down, it will fall apart before reassembling.

Thanks for reading! We'll finish our regular newcomers with Nabbit!
