63.   Ancient Guardian

Very much the Thwomp of this series, where you wouldn't think they'd make it purely because of their near-inanimate status, but after 30+ years of games, with appearances in basically all of them, even these would garner just enough to build something out of. I'd even dare say the Ancient Guardians of Breath of the Wild were spiritual successors of them, albeit with enough differences to be their own thing.

Typically, Armos are depicted as statues until you get too close, at which point they will start hopping around after you. Many are pretty basic, but several come with added features, such as lasers and axes they use as weapons. Skyward Sword in particular made good use of them, appearing in Lanayru desert as high-tech creations of the Ancient Robots, including flying variants called Sentrobes. The Beamos enemy I'll also be including here, as they are very similar, except that they are stuck in one place and fire lasers at anything that moves. I . . . hesitantly include the statues controlled by the Dominion Rod in Twilight Princess as well. I feel like they're built off the same idea, just under your control now, but there's just slightly enough difference to make me unsure. Basically moves from them will be last priority, but will still be considered.

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Beamos

The Armos will fix itself in place for just a second, open up a Beamos eye on its face, and fire a stream of laser that it can move around while firing.

Side B: Axe Smash

Technically most famous from the Twilight Princess statues, but other versions have carried axes, so I think it works. It will swing the axe around and then smash it down.

Up B: Sentrobe

The Sentrobe propellers from Skyward Sword will appear on its head and allow it to fly upward.

Down B: Energy Gate

Based mostly on the technology seen around it in Skyward Sword, in the factories where they are being built, the Armos will project an energy gate before it as a damaging shield.

Final Smash: Self-Destruct

The Armos will start to glow as if damaged, start to dance and spin around really fast and then explode, dealing heavy damage to all in the direct vicinity. I'm not sure if the move should cost a stock for the Armos too, one of those high-risk high-reward things. I could see some players hating that.

Entrance: Just because it's cool, it will be placed by one of those bells from Twilight Princess.

Taunts: Up, it will growl angrily and stomp up and down for a second. Side, it will spin rapidly as if about to explode. Down, it will break down and stick out its tongue like in Skyward Sword.

Thanks for reading! Next up, the Garos seen only in Majora's Mask (technically).
