In my opinion, there are at least two distinct things that Breath of the Wild introduced that should appear in every entry in the franchise simply for the dynamic they introduced. First, is the absolute god-tier upgrade they gave Lynels. There's just something special about entering a new area only to have a near heart attack at seeing one of "those" blocking your way. The second is the mechanic of the Yiga Clan, where not even previously-thought harmless NPCs are necessarily truly safe to approach. I just love it. It brings so much to the game.
The Yiga Clan are a band of rebels who have broken away from the kingdom of Hyrule, who live out in a desert canyon under the leadership of Master Kohga, and regularly disguise themselves as ordinary civilians, waiting until some unlucky traveler approaches them at which point they drop their guise and attack. As for their abilities, they are most often seen with a circular sickle weapon, but can also throw darts, have large members wielding swords called Blademasters, can carry torches, and can teleport. They also have an odd obsession with bananas.
Here's the moveset I came up with:
Standard B: Throwing Dart
I figure the sickle will function as their basic weapon for the standard and smash moves, so for the standard B, we'll have them use their throwing darts on their enemies.
Side B: Blademaster
They will bulk up, draw a Blademaster blade and rush forward, striking with heavy power.
Up B: Teleportation
The Yiga member will teleport in a puff of smoke as they are often seen doing, reappearing higher.
Down B: Disguise
They will transform themselves into one of their opponents for a short time. Best if used in the middle of the fray, which will lead to at least a moment of temporary confusion.
Final Smash: Yiga Ambush
Puffs of smoke will appear all over the stage as Yiga Clan Members come to support their ally. The screen will then turn to silhouettes as the fighters will be slashed over and over by their assassins.
Entrance: The Yiga will start out as a standard Breath of the Wild NPC.
Taunts: Up, the Yiga will do their signature pose spinning around the sickle from just after revealing themselves. Side, the Yiga will turn into an NPC and snicker menacingly. Down, the Yiga will devour a bunch of bananas.
Thanks for reading! Next up, speaking of Lynels . . .
