Character Sheet: Buzzy Beetle

 BUZZY BEETLE

Today, we begin our newcomers. I did say going into this that the RPGs would likely be the last shot for many of the frequent enemies you wouldn't expect to see on a Smash roster, but what I didn't expect was that the RPGs would actually come through for a lot of them. At least one I thought was never going to happen in a million, billion years. But here we are. The first ten are all Mario regulars who finally took the step up to playable. The other sixteen are originals to the Mario & Luigi games (or Origami King) specifically.

1. Toadsworth

2. Captain Toad

3. Buzzy Beetle

4. King Bob-Omb

5. Pokey

6. Ninji

7. Thwomp

8. Whomp

9. Mechakoopa

10. Nabbit

11. Mario & Luigi

12. Prince Peasley

13. Prince Dreambert

14. Olivia

15. King Olly

16. Broque Monsieur

17. Massif Bros.

18. Cackletta

19. Fawful

20. Princess Shroob

21. The Dark Star

22. Antasma

23. Midbus

24. Shroob

25. Popple

26. Durmite/Wisdurm

Next up, we'll cover the Buzzy Beetle, a common enemy type seen throughout the games that had had pieces here and there, but not enough to fully bring together in one go. But now, we do, all thanks to a certain paper-macho Buzzy capable of shooting lasers from its face. That, on top of its abilities to explode like a bomb in Land 2, pick up and chuck blocks in Bros. 3, and its cousins the Spike Tops and the Spinies, I think we have just enough.

Here's the moveset:

Standard B: Laser Beam

A bright pink laser will shoot from the front of its shell, just like the paper macho version.

Side B: Block Throw

This move is based on Bros. 3, where a small Buzzy would pick up and throw a block at you. The Buzzy will basically mimic that move.

Up B: Shell Spin

The Buzzy will spin in its shell fast enough to rise into the air with a spike (based on the Spike Tops) sticking upward.

Down B: Bomb Back

The Buzzy will tuck into its shell and a lit fuse will appear, based on their appearance in Super Mario Land 2.

Final Smash: Mega Buzzy

The only one I'm not certain about. I considered Para Beetles, but considering their lax nature, I didn't think they'd do well. Instead, the Buzzy will tuck into his shell, grow to ginormous proportions and then spin back and forth across the stage, launching anyone hit.

Entrance: the Buzzy will crawl up from the underside of the platform they start on.

Taunts: Up, the Buzzy will hop excitedly for a second. Side, the Buzzy will tuck into its shell and zip back and forth really quick. Down, the Buzzy will curl up and go to sleep.

Thanks for reading! Next up, we'll cover a new echo in the form of King Bob-Omb!

Character Sheet: Captain Toad

 CAPTAIN TOAD

Today, we begin our newcomers. I did say going into this that the RPGs would likely be the last shot for many of the frequent enemies you wouldn't expect to see on a Smash roster, but what I didn't expect was that the RPGs would actually come through for a lot of them. At least one I thought was never going to happen in a million, billion years. But here we are. The first ten are all Mario regulars who finally took the step up to playable. The other sixteen are originals to the Mario & Luigi games (or Origami King) specifically.

1. Toadsworth

2. Captain Toad

3. Buzzy Beetle

4. King Bob-Omb

5. Pokey

6. Ninji

7. Thwomp

8. Whomp

9. Mechakoopa

10. Nabbit

11. Mario & Luigi

12. Prince Peasley

13. Prince Dreambert

14. Olivia

15. King Olly

16. Broque Monsieur

17. Massif Bros.

18. Cackletta

19. Fawful

20. Princess Shroob

21. The Dark Star

22. Antasma

23. Midbus

24. Shroob

25. Popple

26. Durmite/Wisdurm

Initially, I overlooked Captain Toad, largely because the Captain Toad game is all about a minimalist moveset. There were bits and pieces but not enough to justify an entirely distinct moveset. That was until Origami King came along, bringing with it your companion Professor Toad. He didn't really offer up that much either, but what he did bring with him was an attack in which he dug into the ground with a shovel to produce a bunch of coins, and, I don't know, it got me looking back at Captain Toad in a new light. So, here he is, Captain Toad. Most of his new moveset we've already seen, thanks to Toadette jumping over to being his echo instead, but it's worth a look all the same.

Here's his moveset:

Standard B: Flashbulb

One of his most basic moves.

Side B: Pickaxe

Also pretty standard.

Up B: Fan

A common feature of his games.

Down B: Dig Up

The aforementioned Professor Toad ability.

Final Smash: Draggadon

I don't think I'd keep Papercraft, Toadette's final. Instead I figured Draggadon or Wingo might do the trick. Draggadon would emerge behind the stage with Captain Toad on his head and breath fire that would fly across the stage unless blocked by an obstacle.

Entrance: Stepping out of the Toad Brigade ship while the Captain Toad theme plays.

Taunts: Up, he would hold up a star or diamond he just collected. Side, he would hoist his backpack with the Captain Toad theme playing. Down, he might consult a map.

Thanks for reading! Next up, we start in on the full newbies with Buzzy Beetle.

Character Sheet: Toadsworth

 TOADSWORTH

Today, we begin our newcomers. I did say going into this that the RPGs would likely be the last shot for many of the frequent enemies you wouldn't expect to see on a Smash roster, but what I didn't expect was that the RPGs would actually come through for a lot of them. At least one I thought was never going to happen in a million, billion years. But here we are. The first ten are all Mario regulars who finally took the step up to playable. The other sixteen are originals to the Mario & Luigi games (or Origami King) specifically.

1. Toadsworth

2. Captain Toad

3. Buzzy Beetle

4. King Bob-Omb

5. Pokey

6. Ninji

7. Thwomp

8. Whomp

9. Mechakoopa

10. Nabbit

11. Mario & Luigi

12. Prince Peasley

13. Prince Dreambert

14. Olivia

15. King Olly

16. Broque Monsieur

17. Massif Bros.

18. Cackletta

19. Fawful

20. Princess Shroob

21. The Dark Star

22. Antasma

23. Midbus

24. Shroob

25. Popple

26. Durmite/Wisdurm

Today, we will begin with Toadsworth, who was left out previously largely because Toadette was Toad's echo fighter, and I just didn't care enough about the character to give him a separate slot when he was largely just another Toad in terms of moves. However, when Professor Toad gave me the inspiration needed to make Captain Toad his own separate character, suddenly we had the freedom to, shall we say, move around some stuff. Toadette could be an echo of Toad or Captain Toad and it would work either way. And freeing up Toad left a nice opening for a Mario regular who'd been waiting in the wings long enough.

Here's his moveset:

Standard B: Pick Up and Throw
Probably a much weaker throw than the regular Toad

Side B: Ice Flower OR Boomerang Flower
Or maybe using his magic wand, which we can then retroactively give to the Toads.

Up B: Propeller Hat

Down B: Treasure Chest
Just pulls out items he can use or give to others.

Final Smash: Mega Mushroom
Honestly, the idea of Toadsworth tromping around as a giant adds a bit of a comedy element to it, I think.

Entrance: He steps out of a Toad House and clears his throat.

Taunts: I've recently had it pointed out to me that the taunts generally have a subtle direction to them. The Up Taunt has some kind of upward movement, Side is side-to-side or neutral, and Down has a downward movement. I'm going to try my hand at that. Up, he will wave his wand in the air and cause magic to appear. Side, he will do his signature cough. Down, he will sit down and take a load off for a while.

Next up: Let's cover Captain Toad, who is either the echo of Toadette or Toadette is the echo of him, whichever you prefer.

Character Sheet: Shy Guy (Revision)

 SHY GUY

This will largely be our last run of revisions, for the Mario series at least. Now that the RPGs are over, pretty much every game left is either something we've already covered for the most part (Remakes, etc.), or run on a core game mechanic not unique to any one character (the Sports games). So, once these are done, I will do character sheets for new characters added and just a general sum up for everyone else. With all that said, let's get into it:

1. Mario
2. Luigi
3. Professor E. Gadd
4. Princess Peach
5. Toad
6. Toadette
7. Bowser
8. Dry Bowser
9. Bowser Jr.
10. Koopalings
11. Koopa Troopa
12. Dry Bones
13. Goomba
14. Piranha Plant
15. Boo
16. Cheep Cheep
17. Blooper
18. Bob-Omb
19. Lakitu
20. Monty Mole
21. Spike
22. Hammer Bro
23. Chargin' Chuck
24. Wiggler
25. Chain Chomp
26. Birdo
27. Petey Piranha
28. King Boo
29. Paper Mario
30. Yoshi
31. Baby Mario
32. Baby Bowser
33. Kamek
34. Shy Guy

Today, let's cover the Shy Guys, who, of course, appear throughout the Mario & Luigi series, and in Origami King, though nothing particularly as creepy as their role in Color Splash. The most notable Shy Guy appearance would be as Sergeant Guy, a member of the backstabber trio from Bowser's Inside Story and Dream Team. Nothing special, but there.

Here is their current moveset:

Standard B: Snifit

Side B: Mace

Up B: Fly Guy OR Pogo Stick

Down B: Spear and Shield

Final Smash: Pirate Ship

Entrance: Drifts to the ground via parasol.

Taunts: A number of their appearances playing around in the background of various games offers up a number of possibilities.

Next up: Let's begin our new characters. We have several this time, both unique to Mario & Luigi or just various regular Mario characters who finally found the chance to shine here. We will start with Peach's faithful steward Toadsworth.

Character Sheet: Kamek (Revision)

 KAMEK

This will largely be our last run of revisions, for the Mario series at least. Now that the RPGs are over, pretty much every game left is either something we've already covered for the most part (Remakes, etc.), or run on a core game mechanic not unique to any one character (the Sports games). So, once these are done, I will do character sheets for new characters added and just a general sum up for everyone else. With all that said, let's get into it:

1. Mario
2. Luigi
3. Professor E. Gadd
4. Princess Peach
5. Toad
6. Toadette
7. Bowser
8. Dry Bowser
9. Bowser Jr.
10. Koopalings
11. Koopa Troopa
12. Dry Bones
13. Goomba
14. Piranha Plant
15. Boo
16. Cheep Cheep
17. Blooper
18. Bob-Omb
19. Lakitu
20. Monty Mole
21. Spike
22. Hammer Bro
23. Chargin' Chuck
24. Wiggler
25. Chain Chomp
26. Birdo
27. Petey Piranha
28. King Boo
29. Paper Mario
30. Yoshi
31. Baby Mario
32. Baby Bowser
33. Kamek
34. Shy Guy

I swear, I do not understand why the sports games feel the need to ignore this guy. He has got to be one of the most important Mario/Yoshi characters out there. This time around, he appeared as a minor supporting character to Baby Bowser in Partners in Time and acted as a major part in both Origami King and Paper Jam, Paper Jam as a major villain alongside his paper form, and Origami King as one of your companions throughout much of the second-to-last world of the game.

Throughout all of these games, he acts much as you would expect Kamek would, as the faithful companion and advisor to Bowser. He casts spells, rides around on a broomstick, teleports, summons enemies out of thin air, and creates duplicates of himself. He also shows the ability this time around to create magic barriers and force fields, as well as to create paper terrain to change up the environment on you. Let's see what we can do.

Here's his moveset:

Standard B: Magic Spell

Side B: Broomstick

Up B: Teleport

Down B: Duplicates
How about just a defense/counter move. He will just summon up two duplicates of himself, which will take hits directed at him, and will strike with a magical blast at the attacker.

Final Smash: Boss Battle

Entrance: Swoop in on his broom and do his little chuckle.

Taunts: Hold up his wand and wave it around for a second, is a good one. His chuckle, as mentioned before. Maybe cast a little magic and surprise himself.

Next up: Let's go over the Shy Guys and finish the revisions!

Character Sheet: Baby Bowser (Revision)

 BABY BOWSER

This will largely be our last run of revisions, for the Mario series at least. Now that the RPGs are over, pretty much every game left is either something we've already covered for the most part (Remakes, etc.), or run on a core game mechanic not unique to any one character (the Sports games). 5. Toad
6. Toadette
7. Bowser
8. Dry Bowser
9. Bowser Jr.
10. Koopalings
11. Koopa Troopa
12. Dry Bones
13. Goomba
14. Piranha Plant
15. Boo
16. Cheep Cheep
17. Blooper
18. Bob-Omb
19. Lakitu
20. Monty Mole
21. Spike
22. Hammer Bro
23. Chargin' Chuck
24. Wiggler
25. Chain Chomp
26. Birdo
27. Petey Piranha
28. King Boo
29. Paper Mario
30. Yoshi
31. Baby Mario
32. Baby Bowser
33. Kamek
34. Shy Guy

Now, let's cover Baby Bowser, who appears, alongside the baby versions of Mario, Luigi, and Peach, in Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time. You have a few battles with him, during which he breathes fire, throws around a hammer, and flies around in a Koopa Klown Kar. It's not much, but it's there.

Let's see what we can do:

Standard B: Fire Breath

Side B: Bowser's Pet

Up B: Super Jump

Down B: Rock Fall

Final Smash: Giant Bowser

Entrance: A Toady will carry him in inside of a wrapped sheet.

Taunt: Just general brattiness works well for the character, maybe crying because he's not getting his way, maybe insulting opponents the way he did his older self.

Thanks for reading! Next up, we'll cover Kamek!

Character Sheet: Baby Mario (Revision)

 BABY MARIO

This will largely be our last run of revisions, for the Mario series at least. Now that the RPGs are over, pretty much every game left is either something we've already covered for the most part (Remakes, etc.), or run on a core game mechanic not unique to any one character (the Sports games). So, once these are done, I will do character sheets for new characters added and just a general sum up for everyone else. With all that said, let's get into it:

1. Mario
2. Luigi
3. Professor E. Gadd
4. Princess Peach
5. Toad
6. Toadette
7. Bowser
8. Dry Bowser
9. Bowser Jr.
10. Koopalings
11. Koopa Troopa
12. Dry Bones
13. Goomba
14. Piranha Plant
15. Boo
16. Cheep Cheep
17. Blooper
18. Bob-Omb
19. Lakitu
20. Monty Mole
21. Spike
22. Hammer Bro
23. Chargin' Chuck
24. Wiggler
25. Chain Chomp
26. Birdo
27. Petey Piranha
28. King Boo
29. Paper Mario
30. Yoshi
31. Baby Mario
32. Baby Bowser
33. Kamek
34. Shy Guy

Today, let's cover Baby Mario and Baby Luigi, primarily, as of course they appeared as primary characters in Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time, paired up with their older selves as well as each other. There's not a lot to talk about, as most of their moves are moves used by their elder selves in other games and were just divided out to them for this game, but it's worth mentioning that they can drill into the ground, fill up with water to spurt it out, get flattened and then sent floating, and attacking with hammers and green shells, all cool and worthy of adding to their moveset.

Now, one thing I do want to talk about is representation of these characters, as there are many varying ideas out there. Up to now, I have chosen to have them represented as color swaps, with Peach, Daisy, Rosalina, Donkey Kong, Wario, and Waluigi represented as well. Others have suggested a tag-team much like the Ice Climbers, largely based on things like how this game works. Another possibility is echo fighters, maybe with Luigi then taking Daisy, Rosalina, and Waluigi as color swaps. I don't really feel the need to change my current method, as it gives you the ability to play as all the various babies without too much trouble, but if you'd prefer them as either alternative, that is fine. I don't think the movesets change much either way.

Here's the moveset:

Standard B: Waterlogged

I actually kinda prefer one of the moves seen in Partners in Time here. The baby will fill up with water and then spray it as a straight-shot projectile.

Side B: Baby DK Charge

Up B: Baby Peach Parasol

Down B: Baby Wario Magnet

Final Smash: Temper Tantrum

Super Cape could also work.

Entrance: The stork will arrive at a Stork Stop, with the baby in question hopping out of the carrier.

Taunts: Rolling around and being cute. Waving a rattle around. Floating in a bubble for a second.

Thanks for reading! Next up, let's cover Baby Bowser!

Character Sheet: Yoshi (Revision)

 YOSHI

This will largely be our last run of revisions, for the Mario series at least. Now that the RPGs are over, pretty much every game left is either something we've already covered for the most part (Remakes, etc.), or run on a core game mechanic not unique to any one character (the Sports games). So, once these are done, I will do character sheets for new characters added and just a general sum up for everyone else. With all that said, let's get into it:

1. Mario
2. Luigi
3. Professor E. Gadd
4. Princess Peach
5. Toad
6. Toadette
7. Bowser
8. Dry Bowser
9. Bowser Jr.
10. Koopalings
11. Koopa Troopa
12. Dry Bones
13. Goomba
14. Piranha Plant
15. Boo
16. Cheep Cheep
17. Blooper
18. Bob-Omb
19. Lakitu
20. Monty Mole
21. Spike
22. Hammer Bro
23. Chargin' Chuck
24. Wiggler
25. Chain Chomp
26. Birdo
27. Petey Piranha
28. King Boo
29. Paper Mario
30. Yoshi
31. Baby Mario
32. Baby Bowser
33. Kamek
34. Shy Guy

Really don't have much to say here, funnily enough. Yoshis appear in pretty much every game of the Mario & Luigi series, but the games tend to largely treat them as just NPCs. There's a couple of times where you line them up to help push a Chomp Rock and stuff, but that's strangely pretty much it. I don't know, I just kinda thought it was an unspoken rule Yoshis had to be used for more than that.

Here's his moveset:

Standard B: Egg Lay

Side B: Egg Shot

Up B: Helicopter

Down B: Ground Pound

Final Smash: Yoshi Herd

Entrance: He hatches from an egg.

Taunts: That cute little dance he does when he completes a level would be a pretty good one. Honestly, a lot of his cute movements and behaviors would work. The same goes for his new games. Cute is definitely a good descriptor here.

Next up: Let's cover the Mario babies!

Character Sheet: Paper Mario (Revision)

 PAPER MARIO

This will largely be our last run of revisions, for the Mario series at least. Now that the RPGs are over, pretty much every game left is either something we've already covered for the most part (Remakes, etc.), or run on a core game mechanic not unique to any one character (the Sports games). 1. Mario
2. Luigi
3. Professor E. Gadd
4. Princess Peach
5. Toad
6. Toadette
7. Bowser
8. Dry Bowser
9. Bowser Jr.
10. Koopalings
11. Koopa Troopa
12. Dry Bones
13. Goomba
14. Piranha Plant
15. Boo
16. Cheep Cheep
17. Blooper
18. Bob-Omb
19. Lakitu
20. Monty Mole
21. Spike
22. Hammer Bro
23. Chargin' Chuck
24. Wiggler
25. Chain Chomp
26. Birdo
27. Petey Piranha
28. King Boo
29. Paper Mario
30. Yoshi
31. Baby Mario
32. Baby Bowser
33. Kamek
34. Shy Guy

Today, we will cover Paper Mario, as he appears in the Paper Mario games. Obviously, he is the central character in Paper Mario: The Origami King, and is one of the three main characters from Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam. Across these, he does have a few new moves, like the confetti bag and the hundred-fold arms, although all of these I intend to apply to Olivia, so we won't worry about them too much. In Paper Jam, he gains a flutter jump and can make copies of himself, while also taking part in trio attacks with the brothers that make use of his paper qualities. This includes turning into a paper airplane and gliding with them, and attaching to the both of them, Chinese finger-cuff style, and then grabbing something across a gap. Not too much to specifically worry about, but it's good to go over them.

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Mega Hammer

Side B: Companions

Up B: Mega Jump

Down B: Flip

Final Smash: Companion Rush
Probably Companion Rush is best here. All of the others can or have been worked in other ways.

Entrance: Popping out of his own Smash letter would probably be really awesome.

Taunt: Turning into a paper boat, waving to the audience for audience points, flipping through his own book. And of course, a secret taunt in the form of Goombario and Goombella tattling on the opponent.

Thanks for reading! Next up, let's cover Yoshi!

Character Sheet: King Boo (Revision)

 KING BOO

This will largely be our last run of revisions, for the Mario series at least. Now that the RPGs are over, pretty much every game left is either something we've already covered for the most part (Remakes, etc.), or run on a core game mechanic not unique to any one character (the Sports games). So, once these are done, I will do character sheets for new characters added and just a general sum up for everyone else. With all that said, let's get into it:

1. Mario
2. Luigi
3. Professor E. Gadd
4. Princess Peach
5. Toad
6. Toadette
7. Bowser
8. Dry Bowser
9. Bowser Jr.
10. Koopalings
11. Koopa Troopa
12. Dry Bones
13. Goomba
14. Piranha Plant
15. Boo
16. Cheep Cheep
17. Blooper
18. Bob-Omb
19. Lakitu
20. Monty Mole
21. Spike
22. Hammer Bro
23. Chargin' Chuck
24. Wiggler
25. Chain Chomp
26. Birdo
27. Petey Piranha
28. King Boo
29. Paper Mario
30. Yoshi
31. Baby Mario
32. Baby Bowser
33. Kamek
34. Shy Guy

Today, let's cover Luigi's archnemesis, King Boo! He doesn't appear much in this series, except for one major fight in Paper Jam, as well as a Papercraft Battle as well. During his boss battle, he summons spirit fire, shapeshifts, turns invisible, sucks you in, and creates duplicates of himself. Not particularly stuff we see often from him, but all definitely falling within his ghostly purview. And if they don't fit into his special moves, they can all feature in his other moves.

Here's his moveset:

Standard B: Crown Laser

Side B: Tongue Slap
Although I imagine his tongue will be used a lot in his standards and smashes, so if you wanted to incorporate the spirit fire or suction here, you could.

Up B: Belly Bash

Down B: Energy Gate

Final Smash: Painting

Entrance: Emerging from his painting portal

Taunts: His evil laugh he always does, admiring a portrait of one of the Portrait ghosts maybe, tossing around a piece of the Dark Moon. Heck, maybe Hellen Gravely could pop up and fawn over him.

Thanks for reading! Next up, we move on from the standard Mario roster to cover Paper Mario.

Character Sheet: Petey Piranha (Revision)

 PETEY PIRANHA

This will largely be our last run of revisions, for the Mario series at least. Now that the RPGs are over, pretty much every game left is either something we've already covered for the most part (Remakes, etc.), or run on a core game mechanic not unique to any one character (the Sports games). 5. Toad
6. Toadette
7. Bowser
8. Dry Bowser
9. Bowser Jr.
10. Koopalings
11. Koopa Troopa
12. Dry Bones
13. Goomba
14. Piranha Plant
15. Boo
16. Cheep Cheep
17. Blooper
18. Bob-Omb
19. Lakitu
20. Monty Mole
21. Spike
22. Hammer Bro
23. Chargin' Chuck
24. Wiggler
25. Chain Chomp
26. Birdo
27. Petey Piranha
28. King Boo
29. Paper Mario
30. Yoshi
31. Baby Mario
32. Baby Bowser
33. Kamek
34. Shy Guy

Today, let's cover the Mario series' favorite boss character, Petey Piranha. The big boy appears in Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam in both his regular and paper variants. His battle consists of a lot of his basic moves, like flying and divebombing, spewing sludge, and so on, but also throws in a few new things, like sucking people in, and burrowing in the ground.

Here is his moveset:

Standard B: Piranhabon
Or simply sludge

Side B: Tornado

Up B: Fly

Down B: Divebomb

Final Smash: Emissary Cage Match

Entrance: He will wake up from a nap.

Taunts: His roar, maybe with a bit of a stunning effect. His belly button poking out and his rolling over on the floor. Napping, maybe.

Next up: Let's cover King Boo!

Character Sheet: Birdo (Revision)

 BIRDO

This will largely be our last run of revisions, for the Mario series at least. Now that the RPGs are over, pretty much every game left is either something we've already covered for the most part (Remakes, etc.), or run on a core game mechanic not unique to any one character (the Sports games). So, once these are done, I will do character sheets for new characters added and just a general sum up for everyone else. With all that said, let's get into it:

1. Mario
2. Luigi
3. Professor E. Gadd
4. Princess Peach
5. Toad
6. Toadette
7. Bowser
8. Dry Bowser
9. Bowser Jr.
10. Koopalings
11. Koopa Troopa
12. Dry Bones
13. Goomba
14. Piranha Plant
15. Boo
16. Cheep Cheep
17. Blooper
18. Bob-Omb
19. Lakitu
20. Monty Mole
21. Spike
22. Hammer Bro
23. Chargin' Chuck
24. Wiggler
25. Chain Chomp
26. Birdo
27. Petey Piranha
28. King Boo
29. Paper Mario
30. Yoshi
31. Baby Mario
32. Baby Bowser
33. Kamek
34. Shy Guy

Alright, Birdo! The character they can't quite figure out what to do with, so she makes random cameos that almost make no sense. This time, she shows up in the Rubber Band boss's stage show and puts on a show with Mario in Origami King. Also, in Superstar Saga, she acts as a decoy for Peach and then later just becomes Popple's new sidekick for some reason. I don't know why, but hey, she's fun when she does it.

Here is her moveset:

Standard B: Egg

Side B: Egg Hop

Up B: Pidgit

Down B: Blow a Kiss

Final Smash: Eagle Gate

Entrance: She will descend on the small platform she appears on in Sticker Star and Color Splash.

Taunts: Maybe her tendency to pace back and forth, also blowing a kiss, doing her whole cabaret musical performance thing.

Next up: Let's cover Petey Piranha!

Character Sheet: Chain Chomp (Revision)

CHAIN CHOMP

This will largely be our last run of revisions, for the Mario series at least. Now that the RPGs are over, pretty much every game left is either something we've already covered for the most part (Remakes, etc.), or run on a core game mechanic not unique to any one character (the Sports games). So, once these are done, I will do character sheets for new characters added and just a general sum up for everyone else. With all that said, let's get into it:

1. Mario
2. Luigi
3. Professor E. Gadd
4. Princess Peach
5. Toad
6. Toadette
7. Bowser
8. Dry Bowser
9. Bowser Jr.
10. Koopalings
11. Koopa Troopa
12. Dry Bones
13. Goomba
14. Piranha Plant
15. Boo
16. Cheep Cheep
17. Blooper
18. Bob-Omb
19. Lakitu
20. Monty Mole
21. Spike
22. Hammer Bro
23. Chargin' Chuck
24. Wiggler
25. Chain Chomp
26. Birdo
27. Petey Piranha
28. King Boo
29. Paper Mario
30. Yoshi
31. Baby Mario
32. Baby Bowser
33. Kamek
34. Shy Guy

Today, we will cover the Chain Chomps, who, like most of his fellows, appear, but that's about it, really. There are some funky Fawful-Chomps and such, but not too much difference.

Let's see what we can do:

Standard B: Lunge

Side B: Chomp Rock

Up B: Incoming Chomp

Down B: Earthquake

Final Smash: Chomp Shark

Entrance: It appears stuck to a peg in the ground. The peg will disappear into the ground three segments at a time, at which point the Chomp will break free.

Taunts: Bouncing around and biting the way he does. The famous barking sound.

Thanks for reading! Next up let's cover Birdo again!

Character Sheet: Wiggler (Revision)

 WIGGLER

This will largely be our last run of revisions, for the Mario series at least. Now that the RPGs are over, pretty much every game left is either something we've already covered for the most part (Remakes, etc.), or run on a core game mechanic not unique to any one character (the Sports games). 1. Mario
2. Luigi
3. Professor E. Gadd
4. Princess Peach
5. Toad
6. Toadette
7. Bowser
8. Dry Bowser
9. Bowser Jr.
10. Koopalings
11. Koopa Troopa
12. Dry Bones
13. Goomba
14. Piranha Plant
15. Boo
16. Cheep Cheep
17. Blooper
18. Bob-Omb
19. Lakitu
20. Monty Mole
21. Spike
22. Hammer Bro
23. Chargin' Chuck
24. Wiggler
25. Chain Chomp
26. Birdo
27. Petey Piranha
28. King Boo
29. Paper Mario
30. Yoshi
31. Baby Mario
32. Baby Bowser
33. Kamek
34. Shy Guy

Today, let's cover the Wiggler species. As is relatively common now, the Wigglers play notable roles in several games, generally having been ticked off in some way and the Mario brothers having to calm them down and then gain their help to get through an area. This type of plot appears in Dream Team, Paper Jam, and kind of in Bowser's Inside Story. Not really much new to say, as the Wigglers in question do a lot of what we expect of them anyway, although I did take notice of a ground pound they liked to do to make shockwaves occur this time.

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Panel

Side B: Charge

Up B: Flutter

Down B: Earthquake
I guess I already covered that part. Ah well.

Final Smash: Mechawiggler

Entrance: waking up from sleep.

Taunts: Bouncing a ball on his nose, rolling his body segments here and there.

Thanks for reading! Next up, let's cover the Chain Chomps.

Character Sheet: Chargin' Chuck (Revision)

 CHARGIN' CHUCK

This will largely be our last run of revisions, for the Mario series at least. Now that the RPGs are over, pretty much every game left is either something we've already covered for the most part (Remakes, etc.), or run on a core game mechanic not unique to any one character (the Sports games). 1. Mario
2. Luigi
3. Professor E. Gadd
4. Princess Peach
5. Toad
6. Toadette
7. Bowser
8. Dry Bowser
9. Bowser Jr.
10. Koopalings
11. Koopa Troopa
12. Dry Bones
13. Goomba
14. Piranha Plant
15. Boo
16. Cheep Cheep
17. Blooper
18. Bob-Omb
19. Lakitu
20. Monty Mole
21. Spike
22. Hammer Bro
23. Chargin' Chuck
24. Wiggler
25. Chain Chomp
26. Birdo
27. Petey Piranha
28. King Boo
29. Paper Mario
30. Yoshi
31. Baby Mario
32. Baby Bowser
33. Kamek
34. Shy Guy

Today we cover Chargin' Chuck. Not much to say here. A squad of them appear as a miniboss in Paper Jam, but that's about it, and once again, instead of using all the sports stuff appearing throughout their first appearance, they're all once again boiled down to the most iconic move and that's it.

Here's the moveset:

Standard B: Baseball Pitch

Side B: Charge

Up B: Jump and Clap

Down B: Dig

Final Smash: Team Blitz

Entrance: He will charge through a block

Taunts: You could probably pull a few from actual football and other sports. Like a war dance, or a huddle, or the lineup position, and so on.

Next up: Let's cover Wiggler!

Character Sheet: Hammer Bro (Revision)

 HAMMER BRO

This will largely be our last run of revisions, for the Mario series at least. Now that the RPGs are over, pretty much every game left is either something we've already covered for the most part (Remakes, etc.), or run on a core game mechanic not unique to any one character (the Sports games). So, once these are done, I will do character sheets for new characters added and just a general sum up for everyone else. With all that said, let's get into it:

1. Mario
2. Luigi
3. Professor E. Gadd
4. Princess Peach
5. Toad
6. Toadette
7. Bowser
8. Dry Bowser
9. Bowser Jr.
10. Koopalings
11. Koopa Troopa
12. Dry Bones
13. Goomba
14. Piranha Plant
15. Boo
16. Cheep Cheep
17. Blooper
18. Bob-Omb
19. Lakitu
20. Monty Mole
21. Spike
22. Hammer Bro
23. Chargin' Chuck
24. Wiggler
25. Chain Chomp
26. Birdo
27. Petey Piranha
28. King Boo
29. Paper Mario
30. Yoshi
31. Baby Mario
32. Baby Bowser
33. Kamek
34. Shy Guy

Honestly, coolest thing to happen for this group was that they got Yo-Yo-wielding, Chain Chomp-throwing, and Limbo variant. Cool beans.

Here is the moveset so far:

Standard B: Hammer Toss

Side B: Boomerang

Up B: Sledge Jump

Down B: Sumo Stomp

Final Smash: Amazing Flyin' Hammer Bro

Entrance: Floats down on its platform

Taunts: Jumping around and tossing a single hammer would fit maybe. Maybe something reflecting how hyper they are in Odyssey.

Next up: Let's cover Chargin' Chuck!

Character Sheet: Spike (Revision)

SPIKE

This will largely be our last run of revisions, for the Mario series at least. Now that the RPGs are over, pretty much every game left is either something we've already covered for the most part (Remakes, etc.), or run on a core game mechanic not unique to any one character (the Sports games). So, once these are done, I will do character sheets for new characters added and just a general sum up for everyone else. With all that said, let's get into it:

1. Mario
2. Luigi
3. Professor E. Gadd
4. Princess Peach
5. Toad
6. Toadette
7. Bowser
8. Dry Bowser
9. Bowser Jr.
10. Koopalings
11. Koopa Troopa
12. Dry Bones
13. Goomba
14. Piranha Plant
15. Boo
16. Cheep Cheep
17. Blooper
18. Bob-Omb
19. Lakitu
20. Monty Mole
21. Spike
22. Hammer Bro
23. Chargin' Chuck
24. Wiggler
25. Chain Chomp
26. Birdo
27. Petey Piranha
28. King Boo
29. Paper Mario
30. Yoshi
31. Baby Mario
32. Baby Bowser
33. Kamek
34. Shy Guy

Not much to say for this one really either. Spikes be Spikes. One inclusion of note I guess is the NPC from Origami King who technically joins you in battle if you enter a fight while guiding him back to his Shy Guy and Goombone friends.

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Swallow

Side B: Spike Ball

Up B: Clubba

Down B: Butt Bash

Final Smash: Macho Spike

Entrance: It might be fun to have him swing in on one of those spike bar trapezes from a few Mario games.

Taunts: His general ability to deepthroat pretty much anything gives me a few ideas.

Thanks for reading! Next up, let's cover the Hammer Bro species!

Character Sheet: Monty Mole (Revision)

MONTY MOLE

This will largely be our last run of revisions, for the Mario series at least. Now that the RPGs are over, pretty much every game left is either something we've already covered for the most part (Remakes, etc.), or run on a core game mechanic not unique to any one character (the Sports games). 1. Mario
2. Luigi
3. Professor E. Gadd
4. Princess Peach
5. Toad
6. Toadette
7. Bowser
8. Dry Bowser
9. Bowser Jr.
10. Koopalings
11. Koopa Troopa
12. Dry Bones
13. Goomba
14. Piranha Plant
15. Boo
16. Cheep Cheep
17. Blooper
18. Bob-Omb
19. Lakitu
20. Monty Mole
21. Spike
22. Hammer Bro
23. Chargin' Chuck
24. Wiggler
25. Chain Chomp
26. Birdo
27. Petey Piranha
28. King Boo
29. Paper Mario
30. Yoshi
31. Baby Mario
32. Baby Bowser
33. Kamek
34. Shy Guy

Not much to say for Monty Moles either. They appear, and that's about it.

Here's their moveset:

Standard B: Rocky Wrench

Side B: Bullet Bill

Up B: Pop Up

Down B: Tuck In

Final Smash: Monty Tank

Entrance: Pop out of a hole in the side of a cliff.

Taunts: Crouch down inside the tank and glance around. Maybe make his little squeak noise.

Next up: Let's cover the Spikes!

Character Sheet: Lakitu & Spinies (Revision)

 LAKITU & SPINIES

This will largely be our last run of revisions, for the Mario series at least. Now that the RPGs are over, pretty much every game left is either something we've already covered for the most part (Remakes, etc.), or run on a core game mechanic not unique to any one character (the Sports games). So, once these are done, I will do character sheets for new characters added and just a general sum up for everyone else. With all that said, let's get into it:

1. Mario
2. Luigi
3. Professor E. Gadd
4. Princess Peach
5. Toad
6. Toadette
7. Bowser
8. Dry Bowser
9. Bowser Jr.
10. Koopalings
11. Koopa Troopa
12. Dry Bones
13. Goomba
14. Piranha Plant
15. Boo
16. Cheep Cheep
17. Blooper
18. Bob-Omb
19. Lakitu
20. Monty Mole
21. Spike
22. Hammer Bro
23. Chargin' Chuck
24. Wiggler
25. Chain Chomp
26. Birdo
27. Petey Piranha
28. King Boo
29. Paper Mario
30. Yoshi
31. Baby Mario
32. Baby Bowser
33. Kamek
34. Shy Guy

Not much to say for this one. They don't even show up particularly regularly this time. But they are there, so they're here. At least we know they'll have an important role in the next round of games.

Here is his moveset again:

Standard B: Spiny

Side B: Fishing Rod

Up B: Cloud Nine

Down B: Lightning

Final Smash: Lakithunder

Entrance: Floats down from above with its iconic sound.

Taunts: We haven't covered the Mario Kart series yet, but it's 3-2-1 opening makes a lot of sense, or maybe waving the flag at the end of a lap. Also tucking down behind his cloud and shifting his eyes back and forth for a second. Maybe pulling out a camera and checking its quality?

Next up: Let's cover the Monty Mole enemy!

Character Sheet: Bob-Omb (Bobby)

 BOB-OMB

This will largely be our last run of revisions, for the Mario series at least. Now that the RPGs are over, pretty much every game left is either something we've already covered for the most part (Remakes, etc.), or run on a core game mechanic not unique to any one character (the Sports games). So, once these are done, I will do character sheets for new characters added and just a general sum up for everyone else. With all that said, let's get into it:

1. Mario
2. Luigi
3. Professor E. Gadd
4. Princess Peach
5. Toad
6. Toadette
7. Bowser
8. Dry Bowser
9. Bowser Jr.
10. Koopalings
11. Koopa Troopa
12. Dry Bones
13. Goomba
14. Piranha Plant
15. Boo
16. Cheep Cheep
17. Blooper
18. Bob-Omb
19. Lakitu
20. Monty Mole
21. Spike
22. Hammer Bro
23. Chargin' Chuck
24. Wiggler
25. Chain Chomp
26. Birdo
27. Petey Piranha
28. King Boo
29. Paper Mario
30. Yoshi
31. Baby Mario
32. Baby Bowser
33. Kamek
34. Shy Guy

Not much to say for this one. The Bob-Ombs who appear in this round of games are basically all just regular Bob-Ombs. With one notable exception. You all know who it is. May he rest in peace. Of course, he will gain a color swap just like the other two Bob-Omb companions. Outside of that, he doesn't bring anything new to the table with the possible exception that Bob-Ombs exploding is permanent now, I guess. (Nobody tell Bombette and Bobbery).

Here is their moveset:

Standard B: Explosion

Side B: Cannon

Up B: Albatoss

Down B: Bomb Squad

Final Smash: Big Bomb

Entrance: They will drop in via a parachute.

Taunts: That weird sound the pink ones made when you talked to them in 64 is probably good. Some of the actions of Bombette and Bobbery too. Maybe even sitting down and crossing their feet like Bobby.

Thanks for reading! Next up, we'll cover the Lakitus!

Character Sheet: Blooper (Revision)

 BLOOPER

This will largely be our last run of revisions, for the Mario series at least. Now that the RPGs are over, pretty much every game left is either something we've already covered for the most part (Remakes, etc.), or run on a core game mechanic not unique to any one character (the Sports games). 1. Mario
2. Luigi
3. Professor E. Gadd
4. Princess Peach
5. Toad
6. Toadette
7. Bowser
8. Dry Bowser
9. Bowser Jr.
10. Koopalings
11. Koopa Troopa
12. Dry Bones
13. Goomba
14. Piranha Plant
15. Boo
16. Cheep Cheep
17. Blooper
18. Bob-Omb
19. Lakitu
20. Monty Mole
21. Spike
22. Hammer Bro
23. Chargin' Chuck
24. Wiggler
25. Chain Chomp
26. Birdo
27. Petey Piranha
28. King Boo
29. Paper Mario
30. Yoshi
31. Baby Mario
32. Baby Bowser
33. Kamek
34. Shy Guy

Not much to say here either. Bloopers be bloopin'.

Here is the moveset:

Standard B: Ink

Side B: Surf

Up B: Inkjet

Down B: Tentacle Slap

Final Smash: Gooper Blooper

Entrance: Maybe float onto the stage, referencing how they can fly in The Lost Levels.

Taunts: Ink a little the way they do in Mario Kart. Wave a tentacle around. Float upward in the same animation from the original games.

Thanks for reading! Next up, we'll cover the Lakitu enemy, or rather your companion Lakilester!

Character Sheet: Cheep Cheep (Revision)

CHEEP CHEEP

This will largely be our last run of revisions, for the Mario series at least. Now that the RPGs are over, pretty much every game left is either something we've already covered for the most part (Remakes, etc.), or run on a core game mechanic not unique to any one character (the Sports games). So, once these are done, I will do character sheets for new characters added and just a general sum up for everyone else. With all that said, let's get into it:

1. Mario
2. Luigi
3. Professor E. Gadd
4. Princess Peach
5. Toad
6. Toadette
7. Bowser
8. Dry Bowser
9. Bowser Jr.
10. Koopalings
11. Koopa Troopa
12. Dry Bones
13. Goomba
14. Piranha Plant
15. Boo
16. Cheep Cheep
17. Blooper
18. Bob-Omb
19. Lakitu
20. Monty Mole
21. Spike
22. Hammer Bro
23. Chargin' Chuck
24. Wiggler
25. Chain Chomp
26. Birdo
27. Petey Piranha
28. King Boo
29. Paper Mario
30. Yoshi
31. Baby Mario
32. Baby Bowser
33. Kamek
34. Shy Guy

Not much to say here. I guess Sushie really was Cheep Cheep's last chance to get into this thing. Good for them.

Here is their moveset:

Standard B: Squirt

Side B: Surf

Up B: Leap

Down B: Water Block OR Porcupuffer

Final Smash: Tidal Wave

Entrance: Hopping out of the water and flopping around a bit.

Taunt: Floating in the air and swimming around with a blank stare for a second, swimming through the air in a circle with a circle of coins following them, so on.

Thanks for reading! Next up, let's cover their fellow marine enemies, Bloopers!

Character Sheet: Boo (Revision)

 BOO

This will largely be our last run of revisions, for the Mario series at least. Now that the RPGs are over, pretty much every game left is either something we've already covered for the most part (Remakes, etc.), or run on a core game mechanic not unique to any one character (the Sports games). So, once these are done, I will do character sheets for new characters added and just a general sum up for everyone else. With all that said, let's get into it:

1. Mario
2. Luigi
3. Professor E. Gadd
4. Princess Peach
5. Toad
6. Toadette
7. Bowser
8. Dry Bowser
9. Bowser Jr.
10. Koopalings
11. Koopa Troopa
12. Dry Bones
13. Goomba
14. Piranha Plant
15. Boo
16. Cheep Cheep
17. Blooper
18. Bob-Omb
19. Lakitu
20. Monty Mole
21. Spike
22. Hammer Bro
23. Chargin' Chuck
24. Wiggler
25. Chain Chomp
26. Birdo
27. Petey Piranha
28. King Boo
29. Paper Mario
30. Yoshi
31. Baby Mario
32. Baby Bowser
33. Kamek
34. Shy Guy

Strangely, Boos don't really appear all that much in this run of games. I suppose it's not that weird. Outside of Paper Jam, the Mario & Luigi games tended to populate themselves with their own unique enemies each time based on the concept behind the game. As such, Boos don't have too much to offer here.

Here is the moveset:

Standard B: Obake Candlestick

Side B: Bomb Boo

Up B: Boo String

Down B: Vanish

Final Smash: Boolossus

Entrance: Appears out of nowhere

Taunts: Just the basic cover-your-face animation. That screech of theirs needs to be included too. When they flash and show off a blue coin for sure. Maybe Bow's haughty laugh behind her fan.

Next up: Let's cover the Cheep Cheeps!

Monday, October 5, 2020

Character Sheet: Piranha Plant (Revision)

 PIRANHA PLANT

This will largely be our last run of revisions, for the Mario series at least. Now that the RPGs are over, pretty much every game left is either something we've already covered for the most part (Remakes, etc.), or run on a core game mechanic not unique to any one character (the Sports games). So, once these are done, I will do character sheets for new characters added and just a general sum up for everyone else. With all that said, let's get into it:

1. Mario
2. Luigi
3. Professor E. Gadd
4. Princess Peach
5. Toad
6. Toadette
7. Bowser
8. Dry Bowser
9. Bowser Jr.
10. Koopalings
11. Koopa Troopa
12. Dry Bones
13. Goomba
14. Piranha Plant
15. Boo
16. Cheep Cheep
17. Blooper
18. Bob-Omb
19. Lakitu
20. Monty Mole
21. Spike
22. Hammer Bro
23. Chargin' Chuck
24. Wiggler
25. Chain Chomp
26. Birdo
27. Petey Piranha
28. King Boo
29. Paper Mario
30. Yoshi
31. Baby Mario
32. Baby Bowser
33. Kamek
34. Shy Guy

Not much to say for this one. Piranha Plants are Piranha Plants. Everything there is to say, the surprising amount there was, has already been said. That said, I loved the Piranha Planet variants.

Here's his moveset:

Standard B: Fireball

Side B: Ptooie

Up B: Fly

Down B: Poison

Final Smash: Naval Piranha

Entrance: Pops out of a pipe.

Taunts: Chomping around the way he does. Doing the iconic up and down movement. Maybe the sleep animation.

Next up: Let's cover the Boos!

Character Sheet: Goomba (Revision)

 GOOMBA

This will largely be our last run of revisions, for the Mario series at least. Now that the RPGs are over, pretty much every game left is either something we've already covered for the most part (Remakes, etc.), or run on a core game mechanic not unique to any one character (the Sports games). So, once these are done, I will do character sheets for new characters added and just a general sum up for everyone else. With all that said, let's get into it:

1. Mario
2. Luigi
3. Professor E. Gadd
4. Princess Peach
5. Toad
6. Toadette
7. Bowser
8. Dry Bowser
9. Bowser Jr.
10. Koopalings
11. Koopa Troopa
12. Dry Bones
13. Goomba
14. Piranha Plant
15. Boo
16. Cheep Cheep
17. Blooper
18. Bob-Omb
19. Lakitu
20. Monty Mole
21. Spike
22. Hammer Bro
23. Chargin' Chuck
24. Wiggler
25. Chain Chomp
26. Birdo
27. Petey Piranha
28. King Boo
29. Paper Mario
30. Yoshi
31. Baby Mario
32. Baby Bowser
33. Kamek
34. Shy Guy

Not much to say here. Goombas are Goombas. They will be Goombas. The only thing really worth mention is Private Goomp, a member of Bowser's backstabbing trio, and a crinkled paper Goomba who fills a . . . similar role in Paper Jam (Was he supposed to be them?). That's about it really.

Here is the moveset again:

Standard B: Goom Spear

Side B: Kuribo's Shoe

Up B: Paragoomba

Down B: Stack Up

Final Smash: Goomboss

Entrance: Pops out of chestnut shell.

Taunts: The little hop around and squeak from Super Mario 64 for sure. Maybe a wink like Goombella does. Of course Tattle as a secret taunt.

Next up: Let's check out the Piranha Plant.

 DRY BONES

This will largely be our last run of revisions, for the Mario series at least. 28. King Boo
29. Paper Mario
30. Yoshi
31. Baby Mario
32. Baby Bowser
33. Kamek
34. Shy Guy

Not much to say here. Dry Bones appear, as you'd expect, and mostly act as they always do. What more can I say?

Here is the character's moveset:

Standard B: Bone Throw

Side B: Shell Spin

Up B: Para Bones

Down B: Shell Cage

Final Smash: Zombie Horde

Entrance: Starting out as a pile of bones before coming together.

Taunts: Falling apart and coming together, tossing his head around, so on.

Next up: Let's cover the Goombas!

Character Sheet: Koopa Troopa (Revision)

 KOOPA TROOPA

This will largely be our last run of revisions, for the Mario series at least. Now that the RPGs are over, pretty much every game left is either something we've already covered for the most part (Remakes, etc.), or run on a core game mechanic not unique to any one character (the Sports games). So, once these are done, I will do character sheets for new characters added and just a general sum up for everyone else. With all that said, let's get into it:

1. Mario
2. Luigi
3. Professor E. Gadd
4. Princess Peach
5. Toad
6. Toadette
7. Bowser
8. Dry Bowser
9. Bowser Jr.
10. Koopalings
11. Koopa Troopa
12. Dry Bones
13. Goomba
14. Piranha Plant
15. Boo
16. Cheep Cheep
17. Blooper
18. Bob-Omb
19. Lakitu
20. Monty Mole
21. Spike
22. Hammer Bro
23. Chargin' Chuck
24. Wiggler
25. Chain Chomp
26. Birdo
27. Petey Piranha
28. King Boo
29. Paper Mario
30. Yoshi
31. Baby Mario
32. Baby Bowser
33. Kamek
34. Shy Guy

Not too much to say for this one. Koopas appear throughout, though actually not that often as enemies, since most of the time Bowser is not the main threat. Paper Jam and Origami King are generally the biggest appearances, and during those, they're pretty basic Koopas. I suppose we could mention the comic relief character Corporal Paraplonk, but he doesn't add much either.

Here is the character's moveset:

Standard B: Koopatrol Spear

Side B: Shell Spin

Up B: Paratroopa

Down B: Shell Shield

Final Smash: Air Raid

Entrance: Starts out in his shell, before emerging using the standard animation.

Taunts: Giving a thumbs up and making the iconic Koopa sound, stepping outside of his shell and looking it over while in his underwear, maybe sleeping like a Snooza Koopa. Or maybe some of the companion moves, like Koops rubbing the back of his head.

Next up: Let's update the echo fighter, Dry Bones!
