Zelda Roster Select Screen

ROSTER SELECT SCREEN

And again, just like with the Mario Roster, the rosters would be displayed over a large universe map, that shifts as you click on them, this one taking you over the map of Hyrule itself. I guess, who would be your main of all time from those already said for this one?

Tingle All-Star Mode

TINGLE ALL-STAR MODE

And here's the all-star mode, based upon the games they each came from:

1.       Tingle, on Clocktown

2.       Uncle Rupee, Pinkle, Aba, Oinker, and Yamori, on Rupeeland

3.       Tingle’s Troupe, Segare, and Majiyo, on Picture Book

Tingle Adventure Mode

TINGLE ADVENTURE MODE

One day, Tingle is hanging out in his house, playing with Barkle and fantasizing about going on an adventure again and remembering his old love interests, when his old book Balloon Trip of Love starts to glow. It suddenly explodes, characters and elements flying everywhere as Tingle and Barkle take cover. After it is over, he finds that the world of the book has invaded the real world, encountering his scarecrow buddy Kakashi stuffed in his mailbox.

The pair decided to go around, collecting up everything from the book and sending it back. There are three main levels to this game, and it largely acts as a money manager/dating simulator game like before. At the start of each level, Tingle finds another member of his troupe in awkward locations from their hard landing, and encountering Pinkle, Aba, and Yamori around the map, each able to be hired on to help as well. Each level ends with a boss fight: first against Segare, leading Tingle to think that Majiyo is behind all this; second against Majiyo, her defeat allowing Uncle Rupee to rear his ugly head and reveal himself as the one that brought the book to life in order to get Tingle to collect rupees for his again; and finally against Uncle Rupee himself.

After he’s defeated and everything’s put back in the book, Tingle and his troupe hang out in his house, Buriki exploring his video games, Kakashi trying to avoid having his straw eaten by Barkle, Lion eating the contents of his fridge, Pinkle and Aba catching up on old times, and Yamori hiding under Tingle’s mattress, before a loud explosion directs their attention to a cloud of dark, evil magic forming in the direction of Hyrule in the distance, leading the quartet to head that way out of curiosity.

Tingle Classic Mode

TINGLE CLASSIC MODE

There really is no Tingle game I’m intensely familiar with by any means outside of the research I did for this, so I’ll just try to fake it as well as I can. Something along the lines of:

1.       Rupeeland, for the first area

2.       Pirate Ship, vs. Captain Stalfos

3.       Great Deku Tree, vs. Aba

4.       A bug-themed area (we don’t really have one yet); vs. Yamori

5.       Gerudo Valley, vs. Oinker Horde

6.       Rupeeland again, vs. Uncle Rupee

With characters resembling the various bodyguards you can hire as support. And that’s really all I got.

Tingle Assist Trophies

TINGLE ASSIST TROPHIES

Only one today, but here he is:

a.       Teddy Todo: He will become an automatic partner to his summoner, following them around movement by movement and attacking at the same time they attack.

Tingle

TINGLE

As far back as Majora’s Mask, we encounter one of the most polarizing characters in the Zelda series, either beloved or reviled by the fanbase. We first meet him in Clocktown, a man who claims to be a fairy, who spends most of his time floating around Termina on a balloon, making maps of the landscape below.

This is Tingle. He would recur time and time again, in Wind Waker and most of the handheld games, often as a mapmaker but also serving other roles such as trying to steal crystals from you. He would even see a set of four spinoffs starring him, just enough to make his own roster.

As a fighter, Tingle will be a bit of a gag character, with erratic oddball movements and a light, floaty playstyle. His moveset will pull from his game appearances, his moveset in Hyrule Warriors, and his own set of games.

Likelihood rating: Strong

Tingle/CDi Returning Characters

 TINGLE/CDi RETURNING CHARACTERS

Alright, now that those games are finished up, let's go through our list and update any characters in dire need of an update (or more accurately, any that appeared that already have a moveset laid out).

So, right off the bat, we have Link and Zelda both returning, mainly as the protagonists of the CDi games. While the movesets generally try to grasp the concepts of the core games with the items used, it's just different enough that it could become it's own moveset, but I don't have a clear person to take it on though. There is a lot of design inspiration in these games pulled straight from the TV show, such as Link's characterization, Zelda's design, and King Harkinian being the name of Zelda's father, so I'd like to hold off, and incorporate ideas from these when I get to that, if that's okay.

Tingle is another returning fighter, being the protagonist of all major Tingle games. He has a lot of returning moves, such as his balloons, his maps, his bombs, and his fireworks, all of which I included before, and a lot of the new stuff I think I'd like to save for characters more unique to these games, however, if the slingshot was not already part of it, I'd like to incorporate that somehow, and the fight cloud is pretty iconic seeing it's almost basically the only move in the first game. More on that when we get to Pinkle, I think, as she'd make a solid echo fighter.

Ganon, or "Gannon" I guess, appears as the villain of the three CDi games, though his boss battles are pretty basic, and I think I like his moveset as is already. Though, when we get to the TV show version, I might factor in his flaming skulls just like Link and Zelda.

Outside of that, a lot of core enemy types that currently have movesets appeared throughout this set of games, but with nothing particularly noteworthy added to them, so I think we'll leave them as is.

Thanks for reading! Next up, I think we'll tackle that Pinkle echo fighter immediately.

Ripened Tingle's Balloon Trip of Love

RIPENED TINGLE'S BALLOON TRIP OF LOVE

Despite what the title may tell you, there is basically little to no balloon-based gameplay. Really, it's just a point-and-click game with some money management aspects that doubles as a dating simulator. At the end of the day, it's just The Wizard of Oz starring Tingle, and follows Tingle as he gets sucked into a magic book where he has to make his way through a mystical land, accompanied by three companions, and win the love of the kingdom's princess. I . . . don't get it.

Anyway, Tingle is our main character, and his gameplay is, again, pretty basic, though at times he can use various touchable items, such as a baseball, a slingshot, rope, and a train car. He can also make scary faces, and uses balloons to travel between book chapters in cutscenes. Tingle's main companions are: Kakashi, a small scarecrow who can crawl, pick things up, get thrown by other players, and get carried away by crows; Buriki, an alien robot who can scan things, connect to electricity, and trip into things; and Lion, a very strong lion who can lift bells, knock trees over, and pick vegetables. Not quite enough on their own, but . . . together?

As for our NPCs, Barkle returns, but still doesn't do much. Your main potential love interests that you can woo are: Sensei, a caring village girl; Azusa, a train enthusiast; Iona, a seed saleswoman; Liar, a strange creature that only speaks in lies; and the Princess herself. I would also like to call attention to Yamori, a ninja who appeared in both story-based Tingle games. In the first, you could hire him out as a bodyguard where he wielded a ninja blade. Here, you can find him hiding in multiple locations and taking various disguises, and will reward you when you find him. He can also leap really high, attach himself to a kite, and throw smoke bombs. There . . . might be something there.

And now for our villains. We first meet Segare, a dashing prince who competes against us to win the hand of the princess. He is seen wielding a sword and riding a horse, leaping high, piloting a giant mech equipped with rocket launchers and a ramp, causing all manner of sabotage and vandalism, and pulling up a spiked wall to block Tingle in. He turns out to be the son of Majiyo, the witch that gave Tingle the book in the first place, who wants to collect energy called Feropon, given off by a man deluding himself into believing he has a chance with someone way out of his league, and picks Tingle as the perfect target. (Not gonna lie, I kinda snickered). She can shapeshift, teleport, become gigantic, float, send out bee, worm, and snake creatures to attack, and she takes on a final form in her boss fight.

The story mostly takes place inside a giant book, with letters all around Winnie the Pooh-style, and you work your way through a pretty generic Wizard of Oz-style landscape, complete with a farm, a forest, a train station, and a castle.

And I think we've just about covered it. Here's what we've got so far:

Characters:

Tingle: fight cloud, money management, fireworks, make maps, fly with balloons, drop bombs, cook, shovel, bat, stretch and leap, rupee blast, baseball, slingshot, rope, train car, scary face

Pinkle: potential echo fighter or gimmick rep

Tingle's Balloon Fight

TINGLE'S BALLOON FIGHT

There's not much to say here today. Tingle's Balloon Fight is basically just a remake of the old NES Balloon Fight with Tingle superimposed over the players and an added rupee-collecting mode. That's really all there is to it.

Freshly-Picked Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland

FRESHLY-PICKED TINGLE'S ROSY RUPEELAND

Today, let's get into some of the more infamous games of the Zelda franchise, namely, the four Tingle games and the three CDi games. We'll get the less bad ones out of the way first, meaning we're starting with Tingle. Freshly-Picked Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland was a spinoff game starring Tingle, that was honestly more of a "money management simulator" more than anything else, where you had to collect as much rupees as you could, but you had to spend rupees to unlock ways to make more rupees so you had to balance it all.

Your main character is Tingle, whose main combat mechanic is basically "get close enough to an enemy to start a fight cloud animation where you basically have to do nothing." Again, the money management is the important stuff here. However, you do have the ability to launch fireworks, make maps, fly with balloons, and drop bombs. You could also cook, use a shovel to dig, use a bat as a weapon, stretch yourself out in a leap, and fire rupees as projectiles.

As for supporting characters, you have Pinkle, your "girlfriend" who acts as your save option, and your dog Barkle, who mostly just hangs out and acts cute. Then there's Aba, a young swordswoman who teaches you the main battle mechanics. Those battle mechanics are very simple, but they are there. I'd say there's a distinct possibility that either she or Pinkle could act as a gimmick rep. There's also the Grand Fairy, Pinkle's mother, and is basically a Great Fairy.

A major mechanic of the game is that you can hire out a bodyguard to follow you around and give you another body to enter into fight clouds with. Teddy Todo is the first you meet of them and helps present the concept to you, and from there, there's like thirty of them and none of them really do anything all that special. Honestly, they would probably work best as an assist trophy mechanic or a move of whoever gets to be gimmick rep.

Your main villain, and mentor for most of the game until you discover his true intentions, is Uncle Rupee, a man who first presents himself as a wise sage in rags who tells you that to reach the mystical world of Rupeeland, you must collect as many rupees as you can and dump them into a pool. You come to find out there never was a Rupeeland and he was just using you as a pawn to get rich, steadily upgrading his attire and surroundings through various social classes each time you bring him more rupees, until he is basically a wealthy billionaire lounging on a golden sofa. In his boss battle, he flies around on his sofa, shooting lightning, using tables as shields, sending his cats to attack, taking on three forms including a grand form, a green cloud, and a giant head form. He is also protected by two bodyguards with rupee guns.

Since I don't think he can quite take on actual Moblins, Tingle's main adversaries are the Oinkers, smaller pig enemies who are seen throwing bombs, using swords and shields, casting spells, rolling around on balls, spinning with their swords, getting into a circle and raging together, and calling in more Oinkers, while their chief can throw meteors, float, slash, and cast waves of magic. Other enemies are general knockoffs of Zelda enemies or actual animals, like Antlions, Ants, Otters, Crabs, Crocodiles, Squirrels, Bunnies, Catfish, Cockroaches, Cows, Rats, Bats, Spiders, Bears, Moles, Turtles, Sheep, Penguins, Ducks, Sharks, Lizards, Owls, Bees, Camels, and Turkeys.

The bosses include a giant Death Bug, a pirate Captain Stalfos (similar to other versions but with a fireball attack), a Bana Bana plant, a Dora Dora dragon, and an Ultra Death Bug. The mini-bosses include a ghost ringleader, and a floating head called Baron.

The game takes place across three continents with several major dungeons and towns to visit. You start in Tingle's Room just outside of Port Town, with the Western Pool to one side where you deposit all of your Rupees. The dungeons include Hero's Shrine, Pirate Hideaway, Deku Temple, Insect Cavern, and Desma's Labyrinth, with Captain Stalfos's ship acting as a mini-dungeon. Other notable locations include Sunshine Seashore, Cape Treasure, Lon Lon Meadow, Deku Forest, Gooey Swamp, Mount Desma, Fairy Garden, and the Auros Ruins.

I think we've covered just about everything, here's what we've got so far:

Characters:

Tingle: fight cloud, money management, fireworks, make maps, fly with balloons, drop bombs, cook, shovel, bat, stretch and leap, rupee blast

Pinkle: potential echo fighter or gimmick rep

Aba: potential gimmick rep

Character Sheet: Tingle

TINGLE

Today, we begin the third (and probably last) big character haul of the Zelda series, assuming the Tingle and CDi games, the remakes, the animated series, and the comics don't add in anything too drastic. Our list covers twenty-eight familiar faces, and they are:

1. Linkle

2. The Youth

3. Wild Zelda

4. Wild Impa

5. Twili Midna

6. Lana

7. Darmani

8. Yunobo

9. Mikau

10. Sidon

11. Teba

12. Riju

13. Hestu

14. Epona

15. Tingle

16. Agitha

17. Purah & Robbie

18. Yves

19. Terrako

20. King Rhoam

21. Wild Fairies

22. Monk Maz Koshia

23. Cia

24. Astor

25. Volga

26. Wizzro

27. Manhandla

28. Sooga

Love him or hate him, he's . . . definitely a thing. First appearing in Majora's Mask and regularly making appearances in all games with a more cartoony bent, Tingle is a middle-aged man who claims to be a reincarnation of a fairy and spends his days dressing up in a leotard and floating around on balloons (Although both fairies and reincarnation are both a thing in this universe, so I'm not sure why anyone acts like he's weird). Many hate him, many love him, I'm . . . indifferent. Let's get into it.

While I'm sure his own spinoff games will bring more to the table, we'll just work off of Hyrule Warriors and the main games for now. These abilities include inflating a balloon to carry him upward, bouncing and rolling with said balloons, dropping a bunch of balloons as bombs, creating and selling maps, smacking you with a bag of rupees, and slamming down a golden trophy of himself. I think we can do things with that.

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Rupee Smash

He will pull out his bag of rupees and smack you with it. This hit will cause a bunch of rupees to burst from the bag, which any player will be able to pick up, adding to their point total at the end of the match.

Side B: Balloon Roll

He will start rolling forward with his balloons. An extra tap will allow him to bounce off his balloons and up into the air.

Up B: Balloon Float

The most natural move for this character, he will inflate his balloon and float upward. He can then linger at the move's highest point for as long as he likes. Just like in-game, this balloon can be popped by any attack, sending him falling back down to the ground.

Down B: Trophy Smash

He will pull out his golden trophy and slam it down hard on the ground, with a sweet spot that will do heavy damage.

Final Smash: Balloon Bombs

Based on both his balloon bombs from Warriors and his common Assist Trophy ability in current Smash, he will do his little dance, with a burst of balloons behind him that will then fall from the sky as bombs.

Entrance: He will be floating in the air until his balloon pops and he falls to the ground.

Taunts: Up, he will do his little dance of "Kooloo limpah!" Side, he will pull out a map and take down some sketches. Down, a bunch of rupees will appear and he will gather them all up.

Thanks for reading! Next up, another WTF character brought to our list by Hyrule Warriors.
