Character Sheet: Dark Samus

DARK SAMUS

And now, we have another set of characters, this time hailing from the Prime series of games. You'd think a series like Metroid wouldn't have that many, but we're pretty close to fifty now. Our new ones include:

And now, we come to the (technically) titular character of the Metroid Prime series, and the primary antagonist overall. Dark Samus began life as the Metroid Prime, a Metroid mutated by Phazon on the planet Tallon IV, until she was defeated by Samus and ended up scanning and copying her power suit. Dark Samus then spent the next two games hounding Samus, infecting three of her friends and using them to spread Phazon throughout the galaxy.

Although an echo fighter was a perfectly reasonable move on Smash's part, Dark Samus's battles across the series are diverse and varied in the abilities she shows off. First, she has lasers, beams and waves of dark energy, the ability to surge forward at high speed, shields, the ability to disappear and turn invisible, the morph ball, hyperbeam, and spray beam abilities, the ability to float, energy orbs she can use as projectiles, blasts and explosions of phazon, a jetpack, tentacles and pillars that sprout out of the ground, and the ability to warp, absorb energy, and duplicate herself. The real trouble here is picking just four.

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Phazon Blast

She will shoot a blast of Phazon at her opponents, similar to Samus's own arm cannon. The biggest difference though is that when it hits, it will start to make the player sluggish and wear down their health for a short time.

Side B: Phazon Tentacles

Dark Samus will raise her arms and glowing blue tentacles will burst from the ground around her, throwing anyone nearby upward.

Up B: Warp

Dark Samus will warp and teleport to a new location on stage.

Down B: Duplication

Dark Samus will split herself into three, which will leap outward and then rush back together, damaging any in their way when they do so.

Final Smash: Phazon Meteor

One of the Phazon Meteors from Corruption will come crashing onto the stage, demolishing everything in its path.

Entrance: Dark Samus will rise from a blob of Phazon.

Taunts: Up, she will float into the air and glow with Phazon. Side, she will clench her fist and then swipe sideways. Down, she will briefly take on her X-ray-looking appearance.

Kirby Hat: Her helmet.

Kart: Based on a dark version of Samus's ship.

Special Move: She will leave a trail of Phazon behind her that will spread across the track and slow players down.

Spirit Battle: One-on-one on Phaaze.

Victory Screen: Phazon will spread across the world with Dark Samus floating in the center of it.

Losing Screen: Dark Samus will start to break down and disappear, losing her form.

Color Swaps: Her normal colors, an offbrand Samus color, a pink color, a green color, a white color, a gold color, a black color more in line with the dark creatures of Planet Aether, and her X-ray-looking form.
