Character Sheet: Veran

VERAN

Today, we begin a new round of character sheets, all primarily appearing in the 2D titles from Oracles to Tri Force Heroes. We have quite a few, though not as many as the 3D titles. Among them are:

Now, for the villain of Oracle of Ages, a counterpart of Onox. This time, she is a demonic witch who can possess people's bodies, allowing her to use Link to lead her to Nayru by hiding in Impa's body, and then transporting herself into Nayru's body, taking her back in time, and manipulating Queen Ambi into building a tower that will drastically change the future of Labrynna.

First up, we have her main gimmick of being able to possess people. That may take some fancy coding, but I think it could be a solid mechanic for her. She can also summon enemies, most notably Dark Links (something that makes me wonder if Cia might have originated as a moveset for Veran). She can also throw dark energy balls, transform into fairy, turtle, and spider forms during her final battle, and travel through time, thanks to Nayru.

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Possession

A core mechanic somewhat similar to Kirby's, but not, wherein she will transform herself into her ghostly form and take over the body of an opponent, allowing her to take over their controls and fight as them for a short time. I feel like that would have to be balanced somehow, like limiting the time or giving the opponent the ability to shake her off, but we'll see.

Side B: Dark Orb

She will summon a dark orb and fire it forward as a projectile, burning her opponents with dark fire.

Up B: Fairy Form

She will transform into her fairy form and fly upward before reverting to her regular self.

Down B: Dark Link

She will summon a pair of Dark Links before and behind her that will lunge forward with a slash and disappear.

Final Smash: Changing the Future

Just like Nayru and Ralph, I feel like the most potent Final Smash is for her to jump through a time portal, and then have random characters disappear and lose a stock. Possibly with the Dark Tower appearing in the background or something..

Entrance: The Oracles games' version of Impa will appear and then collapse as Veran rises from her body.

Taunts: Up, she will transform into her fairy form and float around. Down, she will transform herself into Queen Ambi for a second. Down, she will disappear into shadow and reappear.
