Character Sheet: Linebeck

LINEBECK

Today, we begin a new round of character sheets, all primarily appearing in the 2D titles from Oracles to Tri Force Heroes. We have quite a few, though not as many as the 3D titles. Among them are:

1. Four Links

2. Ravio

3. Princess Hilda

4. Toon Zelda

5. Din

6. Nayru

7. Ezlo

8. Minish/Picori

9. Linebeck

10. Oshus & Ciela

11. Ralph

12. Alfonzo

13. Madame Couture

14. Subrosian

15. Onox

16. Veran

17. Vaati

18. Bellum

19. Chancellor Cole & Malladus

20. Yuga

21. Lady Maud

22. Byrne

Honestly, though, how was he not in Hyrule Warriors? Anyway, today, we are talking about Linebeck, a cowardly pirate who acts as your ride throughout Phantom Hourglass, taking you all over the map on his small steamboat, the S.S. Linebeck, and kinda ending up as your final boss when his body is used as a puppet by Bellum.

Although he could easily be a gimmick rep, I'd prefer to keep all of his moves to those connected to his boat, if I can. Across the game, we see a lot of the same basic principles as connected to the King of Red Lions, such as a ship's cannon, a salvage arm to look for treasure, and the ability to warp via tornado (so his moveset will certainly be similar to Daphnes's, at least), along with an anchor, and a drill that can be attached to the front. He also likes to hide in a box whenever confronted by Jolene.

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Ship's Cannon

He will pull out his ship's cannon and fire it, using much the same animation seen in the game with its usage.

Side B: Hull Drill

Just because I want to be more creative than using the salvage arm again (even though it's totally something Linebeck would use), let's have the front of his ship's hull, with the drill attached, and have him plow forward with it spinning.

Up B: Tornado

Pretty basic, he'll be flung spinning skyward by a tornado from the game.

Down B: Hideaway

Apparently spotting Jolene on the horizon, he will hide himself inside of the large box contained inside his ship. This box can be destroyed if hit hard enough.

Final Smash: S.S. Linebeck

A tidal wave will crash over the stage, Linebeck's ship appearing and plowing across it, striking everyone near the ground.

Entrance: He will poke his head up out of his box.

Taunts: Up, he will open a treasure map and hold it up to get a better look at it. Side, he will cross his arms arrogantly, then look back with a fearful look. Down, he will open up a treasure chest and look excited.

Thanks for reading! Next up, a pair of other major companions from Phantom Hourglass.
