LINKLE
Today, we begin the third (and probably last) big character haul of the Zelda series, assuming the Tingle and CDi games, the remakes, the animated series, and the comics don't add in anything too drastic. Our list covers twenty-eight familiar faces, and they are:
1. Linkle
2. The Youth
3. Wild Zelda
4. Wild Impa
5. Twili Midna
6. Lana
7. Darmani
8. Yunobo
9. Mikau
10. Sidon
11. Teba
12. Riju
13. Hestu
14. Epona
15. Tingle
16. Agitha
17. Purah & Robbie
18. Yves
19. Terrako
20. King Rhoam
21. Wild Fairies
22. Monk Maz Koshia
23. Cia
24. Astor
25. Volga
26. Wizzro
27. Manhandla
28. Sooga
Today, we'll be covering Linkle, a gender-flipped version of Link at least in concept, though she seems to be a separate person from him in canon. She appears only in Hyrule Warriors and its two re-releases, acting as the main character for the additional story mode in Warriors Legends. She came with two distinct movesets, one based on twin crossbows, and the other based on the Pegasus Boots.
With her crossbows, she could use regular bolts and bomb arrows that she could fire in several different directions. She also had a very strong focus on her legs, with her Pegasus Boots moveset almost entirely built around them and her crossbow moveset incorporating several as well. I'm . . . not going to dwell on the implications of the game designers' preferences with that. Either way, she has about every kind of kick you could think of, from dive kicks, roundhouse kicks, forward kicks, spin kicks, somersaults, backflips, and running knee hits. She could also use a Cucco to float around a bit.
Here's the moveset I came up with:
Standard B: Four-Point Crossbows
This will be based on her attack where she shoots her crossbows in four different directions, but suited more for Smash. This move will cause her to fire two shots, one ahead and one behind her, then another two shots, one above and one below her.
Side B: Fiery Kick
She will flap her Pegasus Boots and kick forward with a spiral of flame around her, carrying her forward and doing damage.
Up B: Cucco Float
Much like Malon and Link, she will pull out a Cucco that will flap upwards with her. She will probably get a bit more lift, boosted by her Pegasus Boots.
Down B: Roundhouse Spinning Kick
She will throw a strong kick forward, dealing heavy damage on the first strike, and then carry it around for several subsequent smaller strikes both in front of and behind her.
Final Smash: Giant Cucco
The Giant Cucco playable in Hyrule Warriors will pop its head up out of a portal, with Linkle retreating back in fear before it bursts out and rampages around the stage.
Entrance: Linkle will run on, check her upside down map for a second, and decide she's here.
Taunts: Up, Linkle will grin and wave at the camera. Side, she will perform a number of quick kicks. Down, a Cucco will run around her feet and she will fall over.
Thanks for reading! Next up, the avatar boy and girl from the BS Zelda games!
