Character Sheet: Baby Mario (Yoshi Main Series)

BABY MARIO

Today, let's get started on the Mario spinoff series/prequel and all the characters that appeared there. As before with the Donkey Kong series, this will result in a split roster, but for now, let's just cover them all together.

1. Yoshi (Revision)
2. Bowser (Revision)
3. Kamek (Revision)
4. Koopa Troopa (Revision)
5. Shy Guy (Revision)
6. Goomba (Revision)
7. Piranha Plant (Revision)
8. Boo (Revision)
9. Blooper (Revision)
10. Lakitu and Spinies (Revision)
11. Monty Mole (Revision)
12. Yarn Yoshi
13. Baby Mario
14. Baby Bowser
15. Bandit
16. Ukiki
17. Chain Chomp

This one is going to be more of a conglomerate character, just like the Koopalings or Timber. I suppose you could call it Mario Babies instead, but as Mario will be the face of the slot, I'm giving its name to him. The other color swaps include, in order: Baby Luigi, Baby Peach, Baby Daisy, Baby Rosalina, Baby Wario, Baby Waluigi, and Baby Donkey Kong. These all have the same moveset as none of the babies had quite enough to work off of, but together they did.

Baby Mario is the main baby we see throughout the games, almost a constant presence in the Yoshi series riding on Yoshis back and helping out on occasion. Baby Luigi appears in most as well, but is generally the "damsel in distress" character. In Yoshi's Island DS, Baby Peach, Baby Donkey Kong, and Baby Wario also appear with distinct abilities. All of them can float around in a bubble and cry loudly enough to get the attention of Kamek's minions. Baby Mario can run super fast with his cape and can float either with said cape or with his diaper. Baby Peach lends her parasol to allow Yoshi to fly great distances. Baby Donkey Kong can cling to vines and charge forward through obstacles. Finally, Baby Wario carries around a giant magnet that he can use to draw in gold and metal objects.

Here's what I came up with:

Standard B: Super Cape
The baby will whip its golden cape in a similar move to Mario's current Side B. This works much more for Baby Mario, as the cape appears in almost all of Baby Mario's appearances.

Side B: Baby DK Charge
The baby will thrust their shoulder forward and barrel across the stage, knocking into opponents. This is based on Baby DK's main ability in the DS game.

Up B: Baby Peach Parasol
The baby will pull out Peach's parasol that she uses in the DS game, while a strong wind will blow based on the winds from the same game, and carry the baby high into the air.

Down B: Baby Wario Magnet
The baby will pull out Wario's giant magnet from the DS game, which will then pull all items in the area toward them for as long as they have it out.

Final Smash: Temper Tantrum
While giving it to Baby Mario with his full Super Cape activated is tempting, with it acting similarly to Sonic's Super Sonic move, I thought I'd get a bit more creative. Instead, I thought all eight babies might appear on stage, floating in bubbles, and all crying at the top of their lungs. While the noise will be distracting, after a few seconds, a number of Toadies will swoop in, grabbing all playable characters and babies except the currently playable one and carry them all offscreen.

Entrance: The stork will arrive at a Stork Stop, with the baby in question hopping out of the carrier.

Taunts: Rolling around and being cute. Waving a rattle around. Floating in a bubble for a second.

Thanks for reading! Next up, let's cover the odd baby out, Baby Bowser!
