Character Sheet: Bandit (Yoshi Main Series)

BANDIT

Today, let's get started on the Mario spinoff series/prequel and all the characters that appeared there. As before with the Donkey Kong series, this will result in a split roster, but for now, let's just cover them all together.

1. Yoshi (Revision)
2. Bowser (Revision)
3. Kamek (Revision)
4. Koopa Troopa (Revision)
5. Shy Guy (Revision)
6. Goomba (Revision)
7. Piranha Plant (Revision)
8. Boo (Revision)
9. Blooper (Revision)
10. Lakitu and Spinies (Revision)
11. Monty Mole (Revision)
12. Yarn Yoshi
13. Baby Mario
14. Baby Bowser
15. Bandit
16. Ukiki
17. Chain Chomp

Today, let's get into the brand-new enemy characters from the Yoshi series. First up is the Bandit, a Shy Guy-esque enemy with a penchant for stealing things, most importantly the babies Yoshi carries on his back. This enemy actually doesn't appear that much throughout the series, only really in the first Yoshi's Island and Yoshi's Island DS, but he certainly makes an impression in both.

In the first game, they appear trying to steal your baby here and there, but one also appears in a number of minigames, tossing around a giant pink ball or racing you to pop the most balloons. What also boosts the Bandit's chances is the existence of a number of enemies sharing his body type and characteristics, but doing different things. These include the Green Glove, who catches thrown projectiles and throws them back; the Slugger who bats away thrown projectiles; Zeus Guy, who throws lightning; and the Grunt, who wears a spiky hat on his head.

Let's see what we can do with all that:

Standard B: Green Glove
This one is based on the Green Glove enemy and also the Bandit's penchant for stealing items. He will grab a projectile and will then be able to fire it back at any opponent. This works similarly to Villager's Pocket move.

Side B: Zeus Guy
The Bandit will charge up a bolt of electricity that he will then throw superfast at an enemy. The bolt will explode on impact.

Up B: Balloon
This is based upon his mini-games in the first Yoshi's Island. He will pull out a balloon, that he will then hop on top of, popping it and launching himself into the air.

Down B: Slugger
This one is more of a shielding move. If simply tapped, he will hold out a bat that will bounce an oncoming attack off of it, but if held down, it becomes a counter move as he swings the bat to knock out the oncoming enemy.

Final Smash: Stock Thief OR Move Thief
My idea for this one functions one of two ways. One possibility (Stock Thief), is that when activated, the bandit will hop off the stage, appearing at the front of the screen and giving the viewers a sneaky eyebrow before taking one stock from each player besides himself. Another possibility (Move Thief) is that he will run around the stage quickly, picking the pockets of every character and "stealing" their standard B move, meaning that that move will be deactivated for a short time. He will then be holding above his head an emblem of that move (i.e. a fire flower for Mario's, etc.) and the players will have to chase him down in order to get the move back.

Entrance: Popping out from behind a corner, with a sneaky look.

Taunts: A sneaky eyebrow wiggle for sure, maybe crouching and looking around.

Thanks for reading! Next time we'll cover Ukiki the monkey!
