Character Sheet: Mikau

MIKAU

Today, we begin the third (and probably last) big character haul of the Zelda series, assuming the Tingle and CDi games, the remakes, the animated series, and the comics don't add in anything too drastic. Our list covers twenty-eight familiar faces, and they are:

1. Linkle

2. The Youth

3. Wild Zelda

4. Wild Impa

5. Twili Midna

6. Lana

7. Darmani

8. Yunobo

9. Mikau

10. Sidon

11. Teba

12. Riju

13. Hestu

14. Epona

15. Tingle

16. Agitha

17. Purah & Robbie

18. Yves

19. Terrako

20. King Rhoam

21. Wild Fairies

22. Monk Maz Koshia

23. Cia

24. Astor

25. Volga

26. Wizzro

27. Manhandla

28. Sooga

Today's should be easy as well. Ruto has moved on to a brand new moveset, and now Mikau, as the only playable Zora in the main games, picks up her old one. Mikau is a musician from the land of Termina and the lover of his band's singer Lulu. When Lulu's children are stolen by pirates, he sets out to rescue them only to fail and die. Link finds his body, and Mikau's spirit entrusts him with his mask to rescue the eggs. Most of the core Zora moveset came from him, so it's only fitting he carries the moves now.

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Fin Blades

Literally his main attack move, so of course it stays.

Side B: High Speed Swim

A move spammed by many a player while swimming in Majora's Mask, a perfect fit here too.

Up B: Waterfall

Not something particularly seen from him, though he can at least launch himself from the water and waterfalls are a big part of Zora representation, so . . .

Down B: Blue Shield

His main line of defense, of course it stays.

Final Smash: Zora Hall Concert

He will strike his guitar. A cutscene will then play of his band performing, showing most of the band members doing their part before Mikau finishes with an epic guitar solo. The final chord will launch everyone standing too close away.

Entrance: He will burst from a puddle onto the ground, or we could have Link put on his face.

Taunts: Up, he will hold his guitar up in the air and belt out a few chords. Side, he will hold his guitar at waist level and practice some notes of his song. Down, Lulu's babies will come out and swim around him.

Thanks for reading! Next up, we have a certain charming young Zora prince to cover.

Character Sheet: Yunobo

YUNOBO

Today, we begin the third (and probably last) big character haul of the Zelda series, assuming the Tingle and CDi games, the remakes, the animated series, and the comics don't add in anything too drastic. Our list covers twenty-eight familiar faces, and they are:

1. Linkle

2. The Youth

3. Wild Zelda

4. Wild Impa

5. Twili Midna

6. Lana

7. Darmani

8. Yunobo

9. Mikau

10. Sidon

11. Teba

12. Riju

13. Hestu

14. Epona

15. Tingle

16. Agitha

17. Purah & Robbie

18. Yves

19. Terrako

20. King Rhoam

21. Wild Fairies

22. Monk Maz Koshia

23. Cia

24. Astor

25. Volga

26. Wizzro

27. Manhandla

28. Sooga

Today, let's cover Yunobo, Daruk's descendant in the modern day in Breath of the Wild, and Link's companion as he makes his way up Death Mountain to board Vah Rudania. He's also one of the only major named Gorons whose name doesn't start with "Dar-." I don't know, man, it feels weird. He is nice and friendly, but clumsy and lacking confidence in himself, even though he definitely knows his way around a cannon.

Young Yunobo's biggest weapon is the cannon that he fires himself out of. From there, he is a big fan of rock roast, using it to give himself energy, can slap people with his big rough hands, can bounce up and down like many of his race, can throw a rocket fist forward, can leave a create a crater in the ground, summon lava, create a barrier, and throw rocks. All pretty standard Goron stuff, but unique in certain ways to him.

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Rocket Fist

He will pull his fist back as fire flares up around his wrist, releasing it after a few seconds for a devastating punch.

Side B: Double Slap

He will slap his big hands forward, clapping an opponent between them. This will not send an opponent flying, but will deal heavy damage and disorient them for a short time.

Up B: Goron Cannon

He will roll up into his cannon. For easy recovery, if you just tap it, he will fire immediately upward, but for a projectile attack set on the ground, you can hold it and then can aim the cannon around and fire at will.

Down B: Rock Roast

He will pull out and devour a rock roast, healing some damage and giving him an extra boost of strength for a short time.

Final Smash: Vah Rudania

It would make sense for him to inherit Daruk's moveset, though if we want, we can mix it up a bit. Daruk's will be a bit more under control, functioning as if he is piloting it, while Yunobo's will be out of his control, climbing up in the background and firing down on the stage as it does when Link and Yunobo are trying to board it. This logic should be able to follow with Sidon, Teba, and Riju as well.

Entrance: He will tumble out on top of a pile of rocks, then rub his head in embarrassment.

Taunts: Up, he will pull out a rock roast and take a long whiff. Down, Daruk's ghost will appear and slap him on the back. Down, he will curl up as if going to sleep.

Thanks for reading! Next up, let's cover the rock star from the land of Termina, Mikau!

Character Sheet: Darmani

DARMANI

Today, we begin the third (and probably last) big character haul of the Zelda series, assuming the Tingle and CDi games, the remakes, the animated series, and the comics don't add in anything too drastic. Our list covers twenty-eight familiar faces, and they are:

1. Linkle

2. The Youth

3. Wild Zelda

4. Wild Impa

5. Twili Midna

6. Lana

7. Darmani

8. Yunobo

9. Mikau

10. Sidon

11. Teba

12. Riju

13. Hestu

14. Epona

15. Tingle

16. Agitha

17. Purah & Robbie

18. Yves

19. Terrako

20. King Rhoam

21. Wild Fairies

22. Monk Maz Koshia

23. Cia

24. Astor

25. Volga

26. Wizzro

27. Manhandla

28. Sooga

Today is a really easy one, because the moveset's already been made, our fighter just gets to inherit it from Darunia and Daruk who have gone on to new movesets of their own, while he gets to be the catchall for the generic catchall "Goron" moveset based solely on the mainline games. Though, seeing as he is the only actually playable Goron (in a sense) in the mainline games, it does seem only fair. As for who this character is, Darmani appeared in Majora's Mask as a Goron hero who had tried and failed to save their village from the freezing winter that had befallen them. Link encounters his body and is entrusted by the hero's spirit to carry on his mission and wear a mask that will transform Link into said hero's body.

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Giant Punch

A natural fit, all Gorons have some pretty solid strength behind them.

Side B: Roll

Of course. It is one of the core moves Link gains when transformed into this character.

Up B: Ground Pound

Also a pretty solid standard for us to go on.

Down B: Bomb Flower

These are everywhere Gorons live in the games, so naturally this is an easy fit.

Final Smash: Biggoron

Considering this is exactly how Darmani died in the original game, I think it's only fair he dish it out on his various opponents.

Entrance: He will wake up from sleeping as a rock and sit up. (Still good with this, though if we wanted to have Young Link put on the mask, I guess that works too).

Taunts: Up, his spirit will float up out of his body and hang there in midair. Side, he will pull out his drums and play a tune on them. Down, he will roll up into a rock as if to sleep.

Thanks for reading! Next up, another Goron hero getting his own place in the sun.

Character Sheet: Lana

LANA

Today, we begin the third (and probably last) big character haul of the Zelda series, assuming the Tingle and CDi games, the remakes, the animated series, and the comics don't add in anything too drastic. Our list covers twenty-eight familiar faces, and they are:

1. Linkle

2. The Youth

3. Wild Zelda

4. Wild Impa

5. Twili Midna

6. Lana

7. Darmani

8. Yunobo

9. Mikau

10. Sidon

11. Teba

12. Riju

13. Hestu

14. Epona

15. Tingle

16. Agitha

17. Purah & Robbie

18. Yves

19. Terrako

20. King Rhoam

21. Wild Fairies

22. Monk Maz Koshia

23. Cia

24. Astor

25. Volga

26. Wizzro

27. Manhandla

28. Sooga

Today, let's move on to the friendly sorceress from the Valley of Seers, or at least, her good half: Lana. Lana appeared as an original character in Hyrule Warriors, a character relevant to the game's plot as the banished personified goodness of the game's initial antagonist, Cia. Also, if my theory about Cia, Volga, and Wizzro having initially been planned to be Veran, Onox, and Vaati holds true, then my guess would be that Lana initially came from the three oracles, the seven maidens from Link to the Past, or Saria (for the second moveset, at least).

In game, Lana comes with three distinct movesets: her spellbook (focused mostly on barrier magic), her spear (focused on nature), and her summoning gate that she can pull monsters from (three of whom are playable on their own, so I'm not sure what to do here, exactly). This gives her the power to summon protective walls that she can hop between or form into a cube and ride around on, the ability to cause trees, including the Great Deku Tree and its babies, to sprout from the ground. She can also send a flurry of pages forward, summon wind, lighting, water, and ice, and use a Deku Leaf and Deku Seeds.

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Barrier Spell

She will summon a wall of light to act as a shield in front of her. The wall will linger for a short time, and she can wall jump off of it if needed.

Side B: Wind Gust

Based on . . . several moves, she will pull out a Deku Leaf and blow a strong gust forward, that will then turn into a whirlwind with several pages of her book flying in it.

Up B: Summoning Gate

She will jump into the summoning gate herself, popping out on the other side some distance away and creating a temporary point for teleportation.

Down B: Baby Deku Tree

She will grab a small branch growing out of the ground and pull upward. A Baby Deku Tree will then pop out of the ground, it's upward momentum knocking opponents into the air.

Final Smash: Monsters of Hyrule

Lana will place four summoning gates all over the stage. She will then do her little dance that she does as Dodongo's claws, Manhandla's vines, Gohma's laser beam, and Argorok's fire breath wreak havoc around her.

Entrance: She will emerge from a summoning gate.

Taunts: Up, she will do a part of the little dance that she does. Side, she will pull out her spell book and flip through it. Down, she will peer into her summoning gate just as a Cucco flies out and knocks her backwards.

Thanks for reading! Next up, the fallen hero of the Gorons of Termina!

Character Sheet: Twili Midna

TWILI MIDNA

Today, we begin the third (and probably last) big character haul of the Zelda series, assuming the Tingle and CDi games, the remakes, the animated series, and the comics don't add in anything too drastic. Our list covers twenty-eight familiar faces, and they are:

1. Linkle

2. The Youth

3. Wild Zelda

4. Wild Impa

5. Twili Midna

6. Lana

7. Darmani

8. Yunobo

9. Mikau

10. Sidon

11. Teba

12. Riju

13. Hestu

14. Epona

15. Tingle

16. Agitha

17. Purah & Robbie

18. Yves

19. Terrako

20. King Rhoam

21. Wild Fairies

22. Monk Maz Koshia

23. Cia

24. Astor

25. Volga

26. Wizzro

27. Manhandla

28. Sooga

If I have a kink . . . Twili Midna might just be a part of it. I'm just gonna . . . try to keep my mind on the moves. This is the true version of Midna, the regal queen of the Twilight Realm deposed by Zant and transformed into an imp. She only briefly appears at the end of Twilight Princess, but got added in as DLC to Hyrule Warriors, giving her a full and complete moveset outside of the regular Midna.

This moveset includes: the Mirror of Twilight, which will float around her and blast a beam of light, the ability to summon a bridge and a cannon from another location, a shattering tear, the ability to summon wolves to attack for her, and the ability to summon Twilight wherever she desires. I mean, that's more than enough for me.

Here's what we've got so far:

Standard B: Mirror of Twilight

She will cause the Mirror of Twilight to float up in front of her and blast a powerful beam of light at a 45 degree angle downward.

Side B: Shattering Tear

She will wipe a tear from her eye and fling it forward. It will have a tiny little hitbox, but it will be able to travel forward some distance, and will strike with tremendous force if it hits.

Up B: Twili Teleportation

She will teleport through Twilight, the way she can as regular Midna, and the way she transports other things from elsewhere.

Down B: Bridge

She will summon the broken bridge and smash it down in front of her, sweeping it back and forth for a second to add on additional damage.

Final Smash: Twilight Realm

She will summon a large sphere of Twilight around the stage, transforming everyone on the stage into wandering spirits. I believe someone else had something similar (I think it was Zant), and, yeah, I'm okay with that.

Entrance: She will rise from the ground as if having just recently been knocked out.

Taunts: Up, she will hum her little song that she hums. Side, she will summon a wolf and scratch its chin. Down, she will cover herself in her cloak.

Thanks for reading! Next up, our major ally from the plot of Hyrule Warriors!

Character Sheet: Wild Impa

WILD IMPA

Today, we begin the third (and probably last) big character haul of the Zelda series, assuming the Tingle and CDi games, the remakes, the animated series, and the comics don't add in anything too drastic. Our list covers twenty-eight familiar faces, and they are:

1. Linkle

2. The Youth

3. Wild Zelda

4. Wild Impa

5. Twili Midna

6. Lana

7. Darmani

8. Yunobo

9. Mikau

10. Sidon

11. Teba

12. Riju

13. Hestu

14. Epona

15. Tingle

16. Agitha

17. Purah & Robbie

18. Yves

19. Terrako

20. King Rhoam

21. Wild Fairies

22. Monk Maz Koshia

23. Cia

24. Astor

25. Volga

26. Wizzro

27. Manhandla

28. Sooga

My favorite version of my favorite Zelda character. Let's do this. Impa only appears as an old woman in the original Breath of the Wild game, telling you the story of what happened a hundred years before, and yet, frustratingly, never even showing up in any of the flashbacks. Age of Calamity remedied all of that though, introducing us to the young version of Impa, best friend and bodyguard to the princess, who has a moveset far more akin to the ninjas of Naruto than the more real world-based moveset of her regular series counterpart.

Among her various moves, she can throw her hat as a projectile, disappear and teleport, unleash a series of quick cuts, lay down explosive seals, create a number of shadow clones of herself, light off fireworks, fly around with a glider, stun foes with the Sheikah eye, and ride around on a giant toad, all of which have their roots mostly in the folklore surrounding ninjas, just like Naruto, so I imagine it's more of a "pulling from the same place" sort of thing rather than banking on the anime's popularity. Or both. Both is good.

Here's what we've got so far:

Standard B: Shadow Clones

She will cause two shadow clones of herself to appear and follow her around, mimicking her movements. They will last for as long as they survive, though they are incredibly weak to attack.

Side B: Quick Cuts

One of my favorite moves of hers, she will dash forward super-fast, leaving her hat behind still floating in the air, fire off a bunch of quick cuts, and then return to her starting position in time to catch her hat again.

Up B: Sheikah Teleportation

She will disappear in a burst of papers with katakana on them, and then reappear much higher in the air.

Down B: Fireworks

She will set three fireworks that will then fire off in different directions and explode upon impact.

Final Smash: Giant Toad

Like the great sage Jiraiya and the hero he was based on, Impa will summon up her giant toad that will hop around across the stage and squish the various opponents.

Entrance: She will float down with her full-body glider.

Taunts: Up, she will hold herself in a meditative position and perform hand symbols. Side, she will switch her hat from her head to her back and vice versa (this will remain in place until you press it again). Down, she will kneel down in the ninja-style way.

Thanks for reading! Next up, the tall, humanoid original version of Midna.

Character Sheet: Wild Zelda

WILD ZELDA

Today, we begin the third (and probably last) big character haul of the Zelda series, assuming the Tingle and CDi games, the remakes, the animated series, and the comics don't add in anything too drastic. Our list covers twenty-eight familiar faces, and they are:

1. Linkle

2. The Youth

3. Wild Zelda

4. Wild Impa

5. Twili Midna

6. Lana

7. Darmani

8. Yunobo

9. Mikau

10. Sidon

11. Teba

12. Riju

13. Hestu

14. Epona

15. Tingle

16. Agitha

17. Purah & Robbie

18. Yves

19. Terrako

20. King Rhoam

21. Wild Fairies

22. Monk Maz Koshia

23. Cia

24. Astor

25. Volga

26. Wizzro

27. Manhandla

28. Sooga

Today, we add in a new distinct version of Zelda, this time the one coming from Breath of the Wild, you know, the overly curious British one with a passion for science but a distinct inability to access the powerful magic wielded by her ancestors. While her appearance in Breath of the Wild may have been a bit lacking for a strong moveset, her Age of Calamity moveset more than made up for it.

Wild Zelda's moveset built almost entirely upon the Sheikah Slate, using it in a bunch of creative ways more than any of her comrades did. This gives us creative options building off of the magnesis, stasis, cryonis, and bomb runes, with a handful more of other options such as the master cycle that she had a whole moveset based on and what little light magic she could use.

Here's what we've got so far:

Standard B: Magnesis

She will fire up Magnesis and cause a bunch of metal to fly up into a big jumbled ball that the player can then swing around in any direction.

Side B: Master Cycle

Zelda will speed forward on the Master Cycle, spinning out at the end of its length and sideswiping anyone standing too close with its wheels.

Up B: Stasis Launch

Everyone's favorite usage of the stasis rune. Zelda will hop on top of a platform frozen by Stasis, with an upward arrow that grows bigger for however long you hold down the command before releasing it and sending Zelda flying sky high.

Down B: Walking Bomb

She will send out her walking bomb that will walk forward for a short time, spitting out smaller bombs all along its way. Zelda can detonate them remotely at any point she feels like it.

Final Smash: Light Magic

The spell she used to keep Ganon in place for a hundred years. She will put forth her hand, catching the nearest opponent with it. We will hear that little sound byte of her wishing to save everyone, and then the opponent will be launched in a burst of light.

Entrance: Zelda be teleported down via Sheikah tower.

Taunts: Up, she will hold up her Sheikah Slate above her head and turn it a couple of times. Side, she will hold up the slate and snap a picture. Down, she will spot a frog on the ground and dive after it.

Thanks for reading! Next up, a brand new version of Impa from the same game!
