Character Sheet: Jolene

JOLENE

Alright, so we did have one more semi-big character list in us. Let's get into it! This is all characters I could pull out originating from the Legend of Zelda manga, or were given just enough of a boost by the manga to make it into our rankings. They are:

1. Maple

2. Jolene

3. Ricky

4. Captain Stalfos

5. Manga Link

6. Riruto

7. Manga Zelda

8. Raska

9. Tou

10. Ghanti

11. Gonza

12. Kala

13. Captain Arjuna

14. Sir Raven

15. Biri

16. Com

17. Gump

18. Shemlon

19. Rouro

20. Ganon's Minion

21. Ganon's Heart

22. Ganos

23. Haggis

Next up is Jolene, another secondary character from the games who got a boost in her manga portrayal. In the games, Jolene is a pirate captain dead set on hunting down Linebeck for unspecified reasons, though there is some hint that they were lovers and he ran out on her. The manga adaptation by Himekawa Akira is much more blatant about this, with her acting as part of the effort to save Linebeck after he becomes possessed by Bellum.

Across the game and manga, her abilities don't vary too much, with her attacking the S.S. Linebeck frequently with her ship's cannons and then dueling Link with her twin swords, generally in a jumping slash or in a block. However, her presence in the manga did remind me that she is very much a close associate of Linebeck, so there are parts of his moveset that can just as easily be attributed to her, so, I think we can make it.

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Ship's Cannons

One of her ship's cannons will appear and fire a projectile forward at high speed, just like Linebeck's. but probably a little stronger.

Side B: Jumping Slash

She will leap forward and slash with her twin blades, just like in the game.

Up B: Tornado

Borrowed a bit from Linebeck, but let's be honest, if he can be warped around the map by tornado, I'm sure it's a common trend for pirates like her too.

Down B: Guard

She will hold up her two blades in an X-shape in front of her, blocking and parrying any hits coming her way.

Final Smash: Pirate Ship

Her ship will appear in the background, racing up to the stage and bombarding it as if she had spotted Linebeck aboard it. (Bonus points if Linebeck was actually in the fight).

Entrance: She will stand at the prow of her boat and jump off.

Taunts: Up, she will stand proudly with her sword in the air. Side, she will cross her arms and look off to one side. Down, she will let out a frustrated growl.

Thanks for reading! Next, yet another companion from the Oracles games who got a boost.
