Character Sheet: Doof & Automaton

DOOF & AUTOMATON

There's not much point to a big returning character review this time around, so let's cover the small handful of characters we were able to pull from the Legend of Zelda cartoon series created by DiC, and the few western comics published under the Zelda series banner. We have eleven to add, including:

1.     TV Link

2.     TV Zelda

3.     King Harkinian

4.     Queen Seline

5.     Roam

6.     Sing

7.     Doof & Automaton

8.     Sleezenose

9.     TV Ganon

10.  Goriya

11.  Water Monster

Today, let's cover Doof, North Castle's resident handyman and aspiring magician. He wishes to learn magic in order to bring an automaton to life and give him a hand around the place, but he just can't manage to keep it together for more than a couple of minutes. Link tries to use him for "shenanigans" that end up getting Zelda captured, and Doof uses his automaton to aid in the rescue after the fact.

I suspect that the character will act similarly to Pokemon Trainer, with Doof standing in the background, directing the automaton with his magic, while the automaton does all the fighting. Outside of generally animating the robot and moving it around, and of course, falling apart, the machine can also wrap someone in a bear hug and attack with a broom. Doof also constructed a very poorly made fake Moblin for the above mentioned shenanigans, so . . .

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Bear Hug

The automaton will grab the nearest fighter and pull them into a hug, dealing damage by crushing their spines.

Side B: Broom

It will use a broom like a melee weapon, swinging it around and striking an opponent with it.

Up B: Animate

Basically, Doof will cast his animation spell on the robot and the pieces will come apart, rising into the air and forming back together.

Down B: Collapse

A defensive move with a bit of hit potential. Basically, when an attack is coming its way, Doof will release his hold on the robot, causing it to collapse and take no damage because, well, its just a bunch of metal pieces now. But, because they're just metal pieces, they will bounce and cause a little damage to anyone standing nearby.

Final Smash: Full Animation

Doof will put all his might into casting the spell, and dozens of metal pieces will start flying in from every direction, striking any fighter in their path, before the spell fails and the pieces explode out from it again.

Entrance: Doof will cast the spell and raise his automaton.

Taunts: Up, Doof will dance around excitedly as the robot stands at attention. Side, the robot will sweep the floor a little bit. Down, the robot will fall apart, revealing the fake Moblin inside it.

Thanks for reading! Next up, a sniveling little thief with the weirdest nose I've ever seen.
