Zelda Guest Appearances

ZELDA GUEST APPEARANCES

Today, let's go over all the major guest appearances of Legend of Zelda characters in other properties. We'll start with the most obvious: Super Smash Bros. Naturally, Legend of Zelda has had a major presence in the series from the beginning, starting with Link in the first game, with a recreation of Zelda's castle from Ocarina as a stage. From there, Zelda, Ganondorf, and Young Link were added in Melee, Zelda coming with a gimmick of transforming into Sheik, alongside Great Bay from Majora's Mask and a generic ruins-style stage called Temple. In Brawl, all returned except for Young Link, who was replaced by Toon Link. Tetra's ship from Wind Waker and the Bridge of Eldin from Twilight Princess appeared as the stages. The same returned again in 4, with no new additions, and Gerudo Valley from Ocarina, a train from Spirit Tracks, and Skyloft from Skyward Sword all became new stages. Finally, Ultimate brought back Young Link, and added in the Great Plateau Tower from Breath of the Wild. Also Tingle, Midna, Ghirahim, Skull Kid, and the moon from Majora's Mask all acted as assist trophies at different points.

Another prominent guest appearance came from Namco-Bandai's Soul Calibur II, where Link appeared as a version exclusive guest fighter, with Heihachi Mishima taking his place in the PS2 version, and Spawn taking his place in the Xbox version. Link's moveset there was mostly built on various sword attacks, but it did incorporate his bombs, bow and arrows, and boomerangs as well. In general, basically built on stuff we've already covered.

Across Nintendo, Link has appeared as a guest in Mario Kart 8 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, riding a motorcycle based on Epona, and with a racetrack built around Hyrule, featuring Deku Babas in place of Piranha Plants, Keese in place of Swoops, and Rupees in place of coins. Several of 9-Volt's minigames have also featured the Legend of Zelda in the Wario Ware series, a minigame based on Legend of Zelda appeared in Nintendo Land, and the character Crazy Tracy from Link's Awakening played a part in Captain Rainbow. Finally, the Wii U version of the game Scribblenauts Unlimited featured several cameos from Legend of Zelda characters.

And I think that's about it! Here's what we've got:

I guess quite a bit, but nothing truly new brought to the table.

Thanks for reading! I guess there's not much need for any character updates, so I guess we can move on to . . . the television cartoon. If you'll excuuuuuuuuse me, I'd better go get that started.
