Otenba Peach-hime

OTENBA PEACH-HIME

Here's an interesting one. Certainly one I couldn't pass up in my coverage of all this. Otenba Peach-hime (roughly translated as Tomboy Princess Peach) was written by Sayuri Jo and published by Shogakukan, and ran from 1992 to 1994. It basically asked the question "What if Peach had been a tomboy and liked to play really messed-up pranks on her friends when she was a child?" Yeah. That's pretty much it. It was a line of comedic comic strips that showed Peach pulling pranks on her friends. First up, throughout the whole series, she wields a magical wand that leaves a rainbow behind wherever she swings it. Then, some of her most notable pranks include inviting her friends to take a shower and switching out the water for . . . cicada pee (ew), trapping Wario in a hammock full of sap, and hiding a bunch of caterpillars in a blanket at a sleepover. Definitely a different take on Peach for sure, but one with a distinct flavor just right for a Smash fighter.
