Character Sheet: Goomba (Goombario/Goombella)

GOOMBA

Today, let's let the floodgates burst forth. The RPGs, being RPGs, have proved a wellspring of brand-new characters and possible major revisions of pre-existing characters. Since there are so many, I will start by covering all of the revisions first. Here they are:

4. Toad
4e. Toadette
5. Bowser
6. Bowser Jr.
7. The Koopalings
8. Koopa Troopa
8e. Dry Bones
9. Goomba
10. Piranha Plant
11. Boo
12. Blooper
13. Lakitu and Spinies
14. Monty Mole
15. Hammer Bro
16. Wiggler
17. Chain Chomp
18. Birdo
19. Petey Piranha
20. Yoshi
21. Kamek
22. Shy Guy
23. Bandit

Today, let's talk about the Goombas, or rather your two main Goomba companions in the first two Paper Mario games: Goombario and Goombella. There are actually quite a few Goombas floating around in these games as enemies, most with unique properties. For instance, you have your Paragoombas, Goombas wearing spike hats, and the new darker-colored Gloombas. Also in the PAPER Mario games, Goombas tend to show off a lot of the PAPER gimmicks of those games, often being the ones to fold into points, stack up, or roll up into a wheel.

And then there's Goombella and Goombario themselves. Both come with the Tattle ability, giving you information on the opponents you are facing. This could function as a fun secret taunt on a Paper Mario stage, with both Goombella and Goombario giving you commentary on the fight. They both also come with a basic headbonk technique and a multibonk technique. Goombella can also appeal to the audience with one move and boost your stats a bit as a result. That's about it though really.

Here is the moveset again:

Standard B: Goom Spear

Side B: Kuribo's Shoe

Up B: Paragoomba

Down B: Stack Up
To be honest, not much changed on these really. Most of these are solid representations in their own right.

Final Smash: Goomboss
As this is his first true appearance, I should at least make note of it.

Entrance: Pops out of chestnut shell.

Taunts: The little hop around and squeak from Super Mario 64 for sure. Maybe a wink like Goombella does. Of course Tattle as a secret taunt.

Next up: Let's check out Piranha Plant.
