Character Sheet: Yoshi (Paper Mario+)

YOSHI

Today, let's let the floodgates burst forth. The RPGs, being RPGs, have proved a wellspring of brand-new characters and possible major revisions of pre-existing characters. Since there are so many, I will start by covering all of the revisions first. Here they are:

1. Mario
2. Luigi
3. Princess Peach
4. Toad
4e. Toadette
5. Bowser
6. Bowser Jr.
7. The Koopalings
8. Koopa Troopa
8e. Dry Bones
9. Goomba
10. Piranha Plant
11. Boo
12. Blooper
13. Lakitu and Spinies
14. Monty Mole
15. Hammer Bro
16. Wiggler
17. Chain Chomp
18. Birdo
19. Petey Piranha
20. Yoshi
21. Kamek
22. Shy Guy
23. Bandit

Today, let's talk about Yoshi. Now, there's not really much to talk about, not for lack of representation, but more simply because everything in that representation is all pretty basic Yoshi stuff. The Yoshis appear in nearly every game in the series in some capacity, most of the time (Super Mario RPG, Paper Mario, Sticker Star and Color Splash) their appearances are basically as alternative NPCs in one section of the game, while in Thousand-Year Door, you get a juvenile Yoshi as a companion, and all of his moves are your basic Yoshi fluff. He eats an enemy, he flutter jumps and ground pounds, he throws eggs, and he calls in a stampede. All cool, but nothing we haven't covered before.

Here's his moveset:

Standard B: Egg Lay

Side B: Egg Shot

Up B: Helicopter

Down B: Ground Pound

Final Smash: Yoshi Herd

Entrance: He hatches from an egg.

Taunts: That cute little dance he does when he completes a level would be a pretty good one. Honestly, a lot of his cute movements and behaviors would work. The same goes for his new games. Cute is definitely a good descriptor here.

Next up: Let's cover his nemesis Kamek!
