WARIO WORLD
Wario World was the Wario series's attempt at making the jump to 3D that would sadly be largely forgotten in the wake of its more successful Wario Ware series. The game debuted on the Game Cube and featured Wario trying to get his treasure back after a cursed jewel comes to life and kicks him out of his castle.
Wario is your main playable character in this game, his moveset being able to run, jump, climb poles, butt bash, deliver a forward punch, pick up and throw enemies, spin enemies around really fast, roll like a ball, and suck objects in. The only real supporting characters are little creatures called spritelings that you have to rescue, but they don't do much from there.
The Black Jewel is the main villain of the game, but sadly, its final boss battle is severely lacking in variety enough to build something off of. Basically it just hovers in midair and fires lasers at you, occasionally making shockwaves. Good for a boss battle or assist trophy I suppose, but that's about it.
The game is divided into four worlds with two worlds inside them. Each small world ends in a boss fight, and then the larger world ends in a third boss fight. These include: Greenfist, a hulking muscleman who charges and punches at you; Sandworm, a giant sandworm who swims around in the sand and spits spikeballs; and Dino Mighty, a dinosaur that will jump, slam, and sweep its tail; followed by Brawl Doll, a weird angel baby who slaps you and spits stars at you; Clown-a-Round, a clown that rides on a ball and can throw fists and his ball at you; and Dual Dragon, a pair of dragons that double team you with one breathing fire and the other spitting balls at you. Next up is Winter Windster, a giant head thing that has freezing breath and can drop rocks on you; Spideraticus, a giant spider that can shoot lasers and balls of web; and my personal favorite boss (who I don't understand how he isn't a meme yet) Red Brief J, a tall, musclebound pig dude in a speedo who struts around the stage like he's hot stuff, throwing giant punches, shooting fire, slamming down, and spinning really fast. He's great. I love it. Lastly we have the Mean Emcee, who spins really fast, charges at you, and hides in cups; Ironsider, who jumps around and sends fists after you; and Captain Skull, a pirate who shoots cannonballs and hookshots at you.
As for enemies, the game has this weird thing where each world has the exact same set of four enemy types, but they look completely different from each other in every world, and you'd never suspect they were the same thing. These are Magons, basic mook enemies; Cractyls, basic flying enemies; Triceratopses, big enemies with clubs they swing at you; and Ankirons, tank enemies with big gun turrets. They keep their names from the first world, which has a dinosaur theme. From there, we also have Bone Fists, disembodied skeleton arms that shoot finger guns; Sword Fish who swim; Elephants who charge; Caged Beasts who swipe at you; Cobras that bite; Angler Manglers, giant walls full of teeth; Icicle Mites who walk around; Land Manta Rays who swim; Monstrous Magnets that fly around and stick to walls and can also fire off electric blasts; Wind Winder, wind spirits that blow air; Rams who charge; Ninja Crows who hop around; Wheel Mice, who run in spinning wheels; Terrible Portraits that throw lightning and rocks; chained-up Vampires that wobble around and spin fast; Witches who appear in mirrors; Big Scorpers who bite; Flying Shovels that work like the magnets; and Laser Jigglefish that shoot lasers. There are also a couple of recurring "mini-bosses," one being the Stone-cold Statue that spins around, shoots lasers, and breathes fire, and the other is the Gem-bodied Creatures that can spawn smaller gems and shoot lasers.
As mentioned before, there are four worlds in this game, each with two smaller worlds within. The first world is Excitement Central, featuring Greenhorn Forest and Greenhorn Ruins, both forest/jungle levels with dinosaur elements. The next is Spooktastic World, with Horror Manor, a haunted house, and Wonky Circus, a carnival level. The third is Thrillsville, with Shivering Mountains, an ice level, and Beanstalk Way, a sky level. The last is Sparkle Land, with Mirror Mansion, a funhouse level, and Pecan Sands, a desert level. And of course, we also have Wario's Castle and Treasure Horde, and a small hubworld outside of it that connects to all the others.
All kinds of treasure is available as items, as well as bombs, springs, and garlic as a healing item.
