Character Sheet: Wiggler (Yoshi Miscellaneous)

WIGGLER

Today, let's begin our last round of Yoshi games with the character updates. It will be almost all revisions this time, but it shouldn't be too many. Here we go:

1. Mario (Revision)
2. Princess Peach (Revision)
3. Bowser (Revision)
4. The Koopalings (Revision)
5. Koopa Troopa (Revision)
6. Goomba (Revision)
7. Piranha Plant (Revision)
8. Boo (Revision)
9. Blooper (Revision)
10. Lakitu and Spinies (Revision)
11. Monty Mole (Revision)
12. Chargin' Chuck (Revision)
13. Yoshi (Revision)
14. Baby Mario (Revision)
15. Baby Bowser (Revision)
16. Kamek (Revision)
17. Shy Guy (Revision)
18. Ukiki (Revision)
19. Wiggler

Much like Chain Chomp from the previous run, Wiggler finally just barely managed to make the cut. Strangely enough, here the species only acted as one of the many sorta-playable characters in Tetris Attack. However, allowing him to adopt some of the moves from that game filled up the remaining spots that he had never quite manage to fill until now. Let's check him out, shall we?

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Panel
This one comes straight from Tetris Attack and mirrors the character's abilities to throw eggs to disrupt the opponent, but combining it with the actual panels of the game. Wiggler will chuck a panel into the air as a projectile, which when hit, will cause a flower to sprout from the opponent's head. (Just like Lip's Stick, which comes from the Japanese version of said game).

Side B: Charge
Wiggler's most iconic attack. Wiggler will turn red and charge across the stage at top speed, ramming into anyone who gets in his way. You can change direction while charging.

Up B: Flying Wiggler
Wiggler will sprout two large butterfly wings and flutter into the air. The wings will carry him some distance before he falls back down.

Down B: Egg-odil
This one is based on Wiggler's partner in Tetris Attack, but also for Wiggler's affinity with flowers in general. Wiggler can plant an Egg-odil in the ground where he is standing, which will sprout after a few seconds, grow its yellow orbs, and finally fire them off in random directions as a projectile. Basically, Wiggler laid a trap.

Final Smash: Mechawiggler
Mechawiggler from Super Mario Odyssey will charge across the screen several times using the portals he summons in Odyssey. As he charges, he will often shoot off random bursts of electricity as well.

Entrance: waking up from sleep, much like Sunshine's version and several others.

Taunts: Getting mad and turning red for a second, maybe extending himself like the Tropical Wigglers from Odyssey. Maybe coming apart and playing with his pieces like in Sticker Star.

Thanks for reading! Next up, let's work with our Rosters for a second.

Character Sheet: Ukiki (Yoshi Miscellaneous)

UKIKI

Today, let's begin our last round of Yoshi games with the character updates. It will be almost all revisions this time, but it shouldn't be too many. Here we go:

1. Mario (Revision)
2. Princess Peach (Revision)
3. Bowser (Revision)
4. The Koopalings (Revision)
5. Koopa Troopa (Revision)
6. Goomba (Revision)
7. Piranha Plant (Revision)
8. Boo (Revision)
9. Blooper (Revision)
10. Lakitu and Spinies (Revision)
11. Monty Mole (Revision)
12. Chargin' Chuck (Revision)
13. Yoshi (Revision)
14. Baby Mario (Revision)
15. Baby Bowser (Revision)
16. Kamek (Revision)
17. Shy Guy (Revision)
18. Ukiki (Revision)
19. Wiggler

There's really nothing to say here. Ukiki appears as a support for Lunge Fish in Tetris Attack and that's pretty much it.

Here's what we've got so far:

Standard B: Thief

Side B: Watermelon Seeds

Up B: Monkey Jump

Down B: Bomb Drop

Final Smash: The Chimp

Entrance: Just bouncing in place the way he normally does.

Taunt: His iconic screech from 64, sitting and eating a watermelon, so on.

Thanks for reading! Next up, we'll cover our only newcomer this time: Wiggler!

Character Sheet: Shy Guy (Yoshi Miscellaneous)

SHY GUY

Today, let's begin our last round of Yoshi games with the character updates. It will be almost all revisions this time, but it shouldn't be too many. Here we go:

1. Mario (Revision)
2. Princess Peach (Revision)
3. Bowser (Revision)
4. The Koopalings (Revision)
5. Koopa Troopa (Revision)
6. Goomba (Revision)
7. Piranha Plant (Revision)
8. Boo (Revision)
9. Blooper (Revision)
10. Lakitu and Spinies (Revision)
11. Monty Mole (Revision)
12. Chargin' Chuck (Revision)
13. Yoshi (Revision)
14. Baby Mario (Revision)
15. Baby Bowser (Revision)
16. Kamek (Revision)
17. Shy Guy (Revision)
18. Ukiki (Revision)
19. Wiggler

As versatile as Shy Guys time and time again prove themselves to be, this is probably one of the few times they didn't really offer up much. Basically, they appear in Tetris Attack, specifically as Fire Guys, in Topsy Turvy swinging around maces, and in Touch and Go as basic Shy Guys. That's pretty much it.

Here is their current moveset:

Standard B: Snifit

Side B: Mace

Up B: Fly Guy OR Pogo Stick

Down B: Spear and Shield

Final Smash: Pirate Ship

Entrance: Drifts to the ground via parasol.

Taunts: A number of their appearances playing around in the background of various games offers up a number of possibilities.

Next up: Let's cover the Goombas.

Character Sheet: Kamek (Yoshi Miscellaneous)

KAMEK

Today, let's begin our last round of Yoshi games with the character updates. It will be almost all revisions this time, but it shouldn't be too many. Here we go:

1. Mario (Revision)
2. Princess Peach (Revision)
3. Bowser (Revision)
4. The Koopalings (Revision)
5. Koopa Troopa (Revision)
6. Goomba (Revision)
7. Piranha Plant (Revision)
8. Boo (Revision)
9. Blooper (Revision)
10. Lakitu and Spinies (Revision)
11. Monty Mole (Revision)
12. Chargin' Chuck (Revision)
13. Yoshi (Revision)
14. Baby Mario (Revision)
15. Baby Bowser (Revision)
16. Kamek (Revision)
17. Shy Guy (Revision)
18. Ukiki (Revision)
19. Wiggler

Today, let's cover Kamek. Kamek appears in Yoshi's Safari, Tetris Attack, and Yoshi Touch & Go as a boss character, mostly behaving the way he normally does: teleporting, flying around on a broom, and casting spells. Not much to work with, but it is what it is.

Here's his moveset:

Standard B: Magic Spell

Side B: Broomstick

Up B: Teleport

Down B: Hammer

Final Smash: Boss Battle

Entrance: Swoop in on his broom and do his little chuckle.

Taunts: Hold up his wand and wave it around for a second, is a good one. His chuckle, as mentioned before. Maybe cast a little magic and surprise himself.

Next up: Let's go over the Shy Guys!

Character Sheet: Yoshi (Yoshi Miscellaneous)

YOSHI

Today, let's begin our last round of Yoshi games with the character updates. It will be almost all revisions this time, but it shouldn't be too many. Here we go:

1. Mario (Revision)
2. Princess Peach (Revision)
3. Bowser (Revision)
4. The Koopalings (Revision)
5. Koopa Troopa (Revision)
6. Goomba (Revision)
7. Piranha Plant (Revision)
8. Boo (Revision)
9. Blooper (Revision)
10. Lakitu and Spinies (Revision)
11. Monty Mole (Revision)
12. Chargin' Chuck (Revision)
13. Yoshi (Revision)
14. Baby Mario (Revision)
15. Baby Bowser (Revision)
16. Kamek (Revision)
17. Shy Guy (Revision)
18. Ukiki (Revision)
19. Wiggler

We finally get to Yoshi, the star of the show! He appeared in all of the games this time around, obviously, although some definitely felt more like Mario games than Yoshi games. In Yoshi, he really just hatches from the eggs you form. In Yoshi's Cookie, he mostly appears in cutscenes playing with balls of dough. In Yoshi's Safari, Mario rides him across set tracks. In Tetris Attack, he is one of the many characters appearing along the side that you are "supposedly" playing as. Yoshi's Topsy-Turvy and Yoshi Touch & Go he plays a bit more normally, although it is more or less the general Yoshi moveset.

Here's his moveset!

Standard B: Egg Lay

Side B: Egg Shot

Up B: Helicopter

Down B: Ground Pound

Final Smash: Yoshi Herd

Entrance: He hatches from an egg.

Taunts: That cute little dance he does when he completes a level would be a pretty good one. Honestly, a lot of his cute movements and behaviors would work. The same goes for his new games. Cute is definitely a good descriptor here.

Next up: Let's take care of Baby Mario!

Character Sheet: Bowser (Yoshi Miscellaneous)

BOWSER

Today, let's begin our last round of Yoshi games with the character updates. It will be almost all revisions this time, but it shouldn't be too many. Here we go:

1. Mario (Revision)
2. Princess Peach (Revision)
3. Bowser (Revision)
4. The Koopalings (Revision)
5. Koopa Troopa (Revision)
6. Goomba (Revision)
7. Piranha Plant (Revision)
8. Boo (Revision)
9. Blooper (Revision)
10. Lakitu and Spinies (Revision)
11. Monty Mole (Revision)
12. Chargin' Chuck (Revision)
13. Yoshi (Revision)
14. Baby Mario (Revision)
15. Baby Bowser (Revision)
16. Kamek (Revision)
17. Shy Guy (Revision)
18. Ukiki (Revision)
19. Wiggler

Today, let's cover Bowser a bit. He appears several times actually in this round of games, appearing as an alt baker in Yoshi's Cookie, and the main villain in Yoshi's Safari, Tetris Attack, and Yoshi's Topsy-Turvy. Across all of these games, he is seen piloting a giant mech, stomping, throwing shells, breathing fire, casting spells, and dropping enemies to attack you. Plus all the basic Tetris Attack stuff. Not much new, just your standard Bowser really.

Let's see what we've got:

Standard B: Fire Breath

Side B: Boulders

Up B: Shell Spin

Down B: Slam Down

Final Smash: Giant Bowser

Entrance: Bowser will land in his Koopa Klown Kar.

Taunts: His evil laugh from Super Mario 64, many of his taunts from Odyssey and other games, holding up a captive something or other, the list goes on.

Next up: Let's cover the Koopalings!

Tetris Attack

TETRIS ATTACK

Tetris is alot like Super Mario Bros. 2 in a lot of ways. It started out as a puzzle game called Panel de Pon over in Japan, a puzzle game starring a cute little fairy named Lip (of the famous item Lip's Stick). When brought over to America, it was reskinned with Yoshi characters and named after another puzzle game it only bore slight resemblance to.

In this game, blocks rise up from the bottom, and you have to switch between horizontal pairs of blocks in order to line them up to get rid of them. In the versus mode, you could cause blocks to fall from the ceiling on top of your opponent's stack and add that one extra layer, and with a certain amount of points, you can throw an egg at your opponent for damage.

The game has a loose narrative of Bowser having put a spell on several of Yoshi's friends with Yoshi having to beat them at the game in order to free them, so each "friend" acts as a sort of boss with a partner attached to form a duo. These duos include Yoshi and a Baby Yoshi, Lakitu and a Goonie, a Bumpty and Dr. Freezegood, Poochy and a Grinder, a Flying Wiggler and an Egg-odil, Froggy and a Clawdaddy, Gargantua Blargg and a Fire Guy, a Lunge Fish and a Flopsy Fish, and Raphael Raven and a Shy Guy. After you've beaten them all, you fight Hookbill Koopa, Naval Piranha, Kamek, and Bowser each in succession as the main bad guys. I wouldn't necessarily count much of this toward any of them, unless say one of the characters already had a partial moveset and this would give them just the boost they need to become playable, like maybe Wiggler or someth--Ooohh!

Here's what we've got so far:

Characters:
Mario: hold and switch around plates, pump switches, play with dough
Yoshi: hatch from egg, play with dough, throw egg, play Tetris Attack, drop blocks
Peach: pump switches
Bowser: pump switches
Goomba
Piranha Plant
Boo
Blooper
Lakitu
Poochy
Grinder
Wiggler: fly, Egg-odil partner
Shy Guy: fire guy
Kamek: cast spells
Bowser: cast spells

Stages:
A stage based on the game, with switching platforms and falling eggs?
This probably helped inspire Cookie Land-type stages that came later, so . . . that?
A stage based on this game perhaps

Items:
Yoshi Eggs
Ball of Dough
Cookies
Panels
Blocks
