Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team and Blue Rescue Team

POKEMON MYSTERY DUNGEON: RED RESCUE TEAM AND BLUE RESCUE TEAM

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon is yet another Pokemon spinoff series, and arguably the most successful spinoff in the franchise. Basically the core of the game is that you play as a Pokemon, with no human characters whatsoever. Technically speaking, you play as a human who's been turned into a Pokemon, because . . . the game designers felt you needed a reason to see yourself in a Pokemon's shoes? I guess.

At the start of the game, you take a personality quiz that determines what Pokemon you become, with the options being Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Pikachu, Meowth, Psyduck, Machop, Cubone, Eevee, Chikorita, Cyndaquil, Totodile, Treecko, Torchic, Mudkip, and Skitty. Basically, all the starters, plus a few of the other most iconic basics. You then also gain a partner Pokemon who will be your constant companion throughout the games, and very much the game's heart. For them, you can choose Pikachu or one of the starters.

The main crux of the gameplay is that you and your partner, and other Pokemon you recruit, work your way through mazes full of wild Pokemon, getting into battles where you and your teammates have a few basic attacks to fend the wild Pokemon off with. You have quite a few Pokemon you can recruit, but the most notable is Absol, who acts as a full story party member for most of the game's third act.

The plot of the game revolves around a legend of a human who pulled a Ninetales's tail and left their Gardevoir to suffer the Ninetales's wrath, with the human being cursed to be reborn as a Pokemon. When said human is reborn, a great calamity will befall the land, involving Kyogre and Groudon. Your main character is believed to be said human, and ends up shunned by the community, but in the end it turns out to be the Gengar who has been causing problems for you since the beginning. Who are you? Why did you get turned into a Pokemon too? That question is never answered as far as I know.

Lots of other Pokemon play minor roles as NPCs throughout the game, such as the top rescue team in the area, comprised of an Alakazam, a Charizard, and a Tyranitar, and the various shopkeepers that live in Pokemon Square, including the Kecleon Brothers, a Persian, and a Kangaskhan. I'm not going to go too much into all of these, as most of them are basically covered already with the regular Pokemon movesets. Most of the game's bosses can be summed up as "the Legendaries."

As for stages, outside of Pokemon Square and your own base, you have Tiny Woods, Thunderwave Cave, Mt. Steel, Sinister Woods, Silent Chasm, Mt. Thunder, Great Canyon, Lapis Cave, Rock Path, Mt.
